    Just got my Mal. She is 7 months old and came from a Breeder. She was very timid and knew no commands. After watching this video and after just 1 hour, she is a different girl. This video has been fantastic to not only show how the dog should behave but how I should get her to obey commands. Many thanks

    That's pretty impressive that your Mal pup is training so well, as they're a stubborn breed. How's she doing these days? Will she obey without the food reward? How's the raw diet?

      Hello, I will be doing an update video tomorrow =)
      She still doing really good with the raw diet, she is a little stubborn but she loves to travel so if we show her the leash she work wonders cause she know we are taking her for a walk or a car ride later.

    Hey you made a very good job. Super trained dog and super arragement.
    Secondly... Venus have wonderful colours.
    I'd like to have a Malamute, too. But I don't know if I had enough time...
    I have a question.
    How many time do you have?
    What is your occupation?
    And when do you train your dog?
    How often you can go outside with her?
    (sorry for bad english, I'm German...)

    I just purchased an 11week old Alaskan Malamute from Petland. She's very loving and sweet. I have a Toy Fox Terrier that has been introduced to her. Right now I understand she's getting use to her new home. When should I begin trying to train her? I want her to be an inside dog, so my first step is potty training. My Toy Fox Terrier was easy to potty train. How should I teach her basic commands? We don't have a fence and I don't want to use an electronic fence. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Her name is Kanga because my Toy Fox Terrier is named Roo (my wife named them). So now we have Kanga and Roo.

      Paul Flanagan Inside dog? You dont let your dogs out?

    • @paulf7536
      @paulf7536 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MrH4rper We let both our dogs out three to five times a day to use the bathroom, play and stretch. My toy fox terrier is yard trained and now Kanga is becoming yard trained. It's a slow process, but with much love, care and commitment, Kanga is learning and becoming a part of the family.

    is it easy to have a Alaskan Malamute..

    • @frostproductions
      @frostproductions 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It isn't easy to have any dog in general cause it is a big time commitment and very expensive. They require lots of exercise, brushing, shed a lot, make sure they have somewhere cool to relax in cause they get hot easily and become pretty big. These are the main cons. The pros are that they are good companions, in my experience our dog was so sweet and very well behaved but every dog is different. Since I'm a dog person everyday I see them definitely fills me with joy so it helps a lot. It can motivate exercise since the dog will need it. There are many factors but these are the main things that come to mind. Mine didn't bark only really a little howl when he got excited 🥺

    I am thinking on getting a malamute pup soon^^ I was wondering.. when you said train them on day one.. do you mean training like this? Or is it best to take them to a pup training place?

    • @TheMalamutePack
      @TheMalamutePack  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Star Butterfly Diaz both, we train her at home from the second day we got her...once she got all her shots and she was 4 months we took her to puppy class not for training but for socializing, they are a big breed the sooner you make them social with tiny dogs the better, you don’t want to wait until they are way bigger than the small dogs and they become bullies or aggressive. Also I recommend to at least once a week take them to interact with other dogs and children if your are planning to travel with them. Keep them social and teach them manners around smaller dogs and kids, their size is intimidating when they are full grown you want to be able to control them. They’re are wonderful dogs but very stubborn not a firs timer type of dog. The need lots of training & a lot of exercise daily for a happy healthy life... good luck with your puppy... if anything you can write me on IG it’s easier to respond 😊😊😊

    • @NekoSakuraBlossom
      @NekoSakuraBlossom 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Malamute Pack The Malamute Pack wow thanks so much for the speedy response 😊 this is very informative and helpful so I appreciate this a lot. One more thing.. I have a rabbit.. will that be an issue? Cause I’m sure they can be trained to be good around prey animals right? 🙂
      Cause I want my bunny to be save and secure too. I love malamutes so I want to make sure she/he will be okay around her. I never owned a doggie before so I’m pretty much a novice person but I am around dogs all the time at shelter since I volunteer and walk them all the time^^ never an Alaskan Malamute though.

    • @TheMalamutePack
      @TheMalamutePack  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Star Butterfly Diaz when we got Venus & Apollo we had a pet skunk wish is the same size of a bunny and we introduced them together since day one no problem ever, they used to play together all the time even when Venus was full grown and Apollo was almost full grown when she pass away during a hurricane (she had a heart attack from the scary noise, skunks are easily scared and the hurricane was too much for our baby to handle) ... so if you introduce them since day one I don’t think you will have trouble... now I don’t recommend to get another baby bunny after the Malamute is full grow cause they are not going to see the new baby as a sibling they can think is a toy ...
      If you are a first time do a lot for research please and make sure you have the time, energy & money Malamutes are wonderful but very stubborn and they need long walks everyday remember they’re breed to run miles and miles on Alaska, if you don’t walk them and have their energy level low they can become destructive like huskies. Sadly a lot of them end up in shelter cause people don’t know how much work go into them. ...

    • @NekoSakuraBlossom
      @NekoSakuraBlossom 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Malamute Pack aw that’s sad :( I will definitely research more on them. It’s a relief the malamute pup will be good with my bunny. She’s seven right now and full grown so she’s very chill. Plus she’s not free roam, she’s let out occasionally. It will be a nice buddy for her to socialize with🙂 I’ll make sure to take the pup to a park trail for long walks^^ really hope I get one soon❤️ thanks again! This is really great and helpful information ☺️

      john millares I hear that you have to just be thorough, consistent and work long and hard at it. Alaskan Malamutes are known for their stubbornness. Lots of training and handling when the dog is young really pays off when the pup grows up. I have a down payment on one from a breeder, the pup is supposed to be born any day now and in 8 weeks I will be able to pick her up.

    • @TheMalamutePack
      @TheMalamutePack  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ricardo Navarro can be separation anxiety, try giving her a jackpot of treats each time she goes in her kennel make it only a happy place not a punishment. First give her a bunch of treats with te door of the kennel open, wait a few hours do it again this time close the door and let her inside for 20 minutes, let her out, then another jackpot inside her kennel close the door for 40 minutes, let her out. Do this over and over for longer period of time. Until she loves her kennel. My boy loveeeeeee his kennel cause he knows every time he goes in he gets treats.
      A lot a patients, training not happens over night, good luck 😊😊😊
      Remember they get scared too, new places are scary. Also she is 3 months she still can have potty accidents let her out every 4-6 hours to avoid potty accidents

    • @TheMalamutePack
      @TheMalamutePack  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      KillerKlown690 pet botanics training rewards ... they’re really small treats so it’s easy for the dog to chew on them fast, so they don’t get distracted eating the treats instead of training

      He is teething, like a human baby they need things to bite, if he is biting your hand get him a rubber type of toy like kong. Put it in the freezer with cheese or peanut butter (make sure the peanuts butter is free of xylitol) and when he goes to bite you tell him no firmly and then wait for him to stop and as reward give him the frozen kong. Cold rubber toys are great for the teething stage, the massage the gums & provide the dog entertainment.

    • @frostproductions
      @frostproductions 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheMalamutePack he has a bone which he loves. One is real and the other is a fake rubber bacon scented one . He ate one of them within 3 days ish. He doesn't seem to be into the second one even though it is a real bone.
      We play with tug toys a lot and let him roam around the yard with us for hours he is high energy but super fun. We plan to take him for hikes when he is old enough ❤
      It is my first puppy. I had a one year old mal before who I adopted from the shelter with my family and we had him for 15 years before he passed nearly 3 years ago. He was a good boy who never bit.
      Thank you so much for the tips. I will make sure to try that right away

    When is the ideal age to get a puppy

    • @TheMalamutePack
      @TheMalamutePack  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nani Hernandez after their 1st round of shots, most reputable breeder will give them at 8 weeks, if you are traveling with them most airlines have a 10 weeks policy. Don’t buy for pet shops or puppy mills please, verify is a reputable breeder or if you want you can look for a rescue some have puppies cause they have rescue a pregnant dog. Mine are from a reputable breeder 5 years after getting Venus she still in touch with us and got Apollo from her too.
