Yo! Creator of Hedgehog Engine Garage V1 and 2! This is actually a cool tutorial, and to be fair, way more simpler than how i did it back then...heheheh... Will be looking forward to seeing how this will end up!
i've done this myself using the teleporter nodons to make my person move really fast problem is, it tends to clip through objects, it doesn't allow for speed buildup, so you're sent darting all over the place uncontrollably, and sometimes the person's stuck in its free-fall animation on the ground while moving after jumping, this is definitely much better than what i had originally
Then there’s an issue with your inputs into the moving object. Something is applying a positive force on the Z input of the moving object without the right button being pressed.
Nice man! ive been waiting for a widespread tutorial like this! though at this point I learned to do it myself. Im happy that this can be used by new GBG fans. In addition, you can add sonic movement sprites by using the counter-digitiser method and having the walk sprite animation play as sonic is moving but not at max speed and the run animation playing when you are at max speed. this would be prominantly used in 2d sonic games
The internal stress of the scope of that project is kind of what made me stop making videos for a year so I have to keep a leash on it but I would like to continue it at some point!
To save on nodon and connections on the player, you could have made the object used for the spikes be a moving object aswell and use that instead of a seperate moving object
True, if we end up crunched for nodon might go back and optimize it. It just comes across as more intuitively readable to me that each box has its own purpose for now.
@@DaveNodon Hey can you also make a part 3 for the boost because I think some people wanna do the boost maybe the unwiished boost would be cool because the spindash and boost can so-exist
That would mean either your forward/backward input to your character is set backwards Or The force on your moving object is set to the wrong Z. If it’s Z+ try Z- and vice versa. The Z axis is forward/back so if it’s going in the “wrong Z direction” that would do it.
2:35 Or you could just connect the stick nodon(s) to a absolute nodon then connect it to a counter, since gbg runs 60 fps then if it's 0, 60, 120, and so on, increase a country by 1 (starting value is 1) then multiply that to the stick nodon.
Tried that first! Stick nodon also output negative values too and two sticks together can run values from -2 to 2 they are almost never a clean 0 or 1.
Can someone help when i run to the back of my players position i slow down instead of speeding up i rewind the video but i could not find how to fix it can someone help
@@Pablo-qw5yu if it only happens when you run towards the camera then maybe your moving object that boosts Sonic’s speed is set to “camera” movement. Instead of “world” it’s a setting that choose how the game decides its directions. It could be making the object move “forward” based on camera and not the world position

Looks fun! Didn’t get the notification for some weird reason, but I love your Game Builder Garage content. Can’t wait for Part 2!

Doesn’t work I did everything correctly but as soon as the game load, he immediately starts moving without him running

@@DaveNodon I try it

Im excited for this series!
Can you add boost bcz I'm trying to make sonic generations in gbg
Pls make recharge flashlight!
Is there a way to make item boxes like the ones in Mario Kart?
Hello there
Hi
Howdy 🤠
Thank you 😭😭😭😭
would i use y center for making the ears on the texture?
I found that if you put the connection point on a box object to center center, you can make both the tail and back spike
Is there gonna be a part 3 for your action adventure game?

How do you film this video?
I have a video on how to record switch gameplay! 😆 once you have it all set up it’s really quick to set up and record
Ok @@DaveNodon :)
when i run, my character goes backwards, what do i do?

My character only would go left and right, idk why😅 ok I just figured it! I didn’t connect my up down to forwards and backwards😂!
Maybe the stick input for the forward/backward movement wasn’t set right!
Can someone help when i run to the back of my players position i slow down instead of speeding up i rewind the video but i could not find how to fix it can someone help
Edit: I even downloaded the game to see what was different I could not find what was wrong

I forgot about gbg 💀
A lot of people are in the same boat. No level sharing platform built in really basically ruined its longevity. But we’re still here! 😆
awesome
Mine’s is going backwards at full speed what parts do I edit if this is happening

How did you put the sonic hair to the character?
2:31 I just made the player speed 2.00
When part 2?
I’m trying to do this one weekly so this coming weekend! I’ts going to focus on the spin dash, maybe spin dash + collectible rings
Ok @@DaveNodon :)
How do you fix the camra 😅
I'm kinda rusty :/
Fixed. How did you make the map tho
Sonic is moon walking
I am making a series based on this. But it is Mega Man instead of sonic (also the person’s proportions look like Mega Man’s).
Suggestion: how to add player sliding
nice one but can you please make a homing attack for part 6 and boss for part 7
I’m Sonic’s biggest fan >:(
Nuh uh
yeah sonic SPIN-offs 😂😂😂😂
Every time i do it its not 3rd person
Nice!
Some reason it didn’t work😢
Im gonna be honest. I just skipped to the sonic part
