I gave AEW almost 3 months to win me over in 2024 after abandoning the product in 2020. I started just prior to All in this year...and while that PPV was excellent the product as a whole was very poor. I mainly checked out AEW because of how terrible Smackdown was on a weekly basis and somehow I enjoyed Dynamite and its PPV's even less. So I stopped watching both AEW and SD. Hot take: Ricochet didn’t plan on this character. He was trying to be cool and backfired and he came off like a dweeb. He got lucky and stumbled in to this heel character.
The fact that this is the most character development Ricochet has ever gotten is disappointing on a whole other level. Also, this isn't a Drew McIntyre situation. He's not on the same level as Drew.
Personally, the idea of having a good tournament suggested to be on the same par as a G1 and have the reward be your least important mid card title is strange enough but having it take place solely to build to a match that doesn’t need it is a weird route.
Rico was in PWG right before getting signed to WWE. At that time he was PWG Champion and a heel, and a very good heel champ at that. This not his first heel run, and im very happy to see him embracing his arrogant side again. Welcome back King Ricochet
Good point, I was there for his match with Lio Rush where Rico worked heel. It was good stuff. But monthly shows are a bit different than the weekly promo-heavy heel work he’s gonna have in AEW.
In a normal wrestling company, yes. But AEW overthink everything and Mox will retain to show how dominant he is plus Adam isn't an aew original. He's just there to legitimize the Mox title reign
@@MattKeller that doesn't make any sense at all. Danielson wasn't an original - he won the title. Swerve wasn't an original - he won the title. Heck, Mox isn't even an original, he came over a short time after the company began. Not to mention every single Death Rider segment kills ratings every single time. My bet is that Edge beats Mox, Christian cashes in, so that Darby has an opponent he can beat credibly. Edge, FTR, and a returning Sting fend off the Patriarchy to help Darby become champ. Not saying I like the booking, but that's 100% how it's going to go.
@@daringtravelergames Sorry but there's very little chance TK let's Mox and the death riders run rampant just to lose to Adam so he can lose to Christian so he can lose to whoever. Would make the whole thing pointless. It IS pointless thanks to terrible booking, but TK doesn't realize that. He thinks this is great and things are about to turn around for the entire company. Btw I'm talking about the person to beat Mox to restore AEW's honor in the storyline, the stuff you listed is irrelevant, that's the past.
Honest prediction (admittingly take this from someone else for props to them can't remember their name so apologies) Copeland beats Mox for the title and then Christian Cage cashs in on him with the case he won in the casino ladder match. A great "robbery at the end, sets up the next big rivliry, could eventually lead to the two reuinitingas a tag team.
The thing about AEW for me is that if I turn on a PPV I'm probably gonna enjoy it due to the often very good to great matches. However, there's nothing that makes me feel like I *need* to watch an AEW PPV in the same way as a WWE one.
The Adam Cole, MJF feud makes absolutely no sense now...Cole turned on MJF revealing himself as "The Devil" and now all of a sudden Cole is a Face because MJF is a Heel. At the end of the day, nobody cares about The Undisputed Kingdom. The only ones I can name right off the top of my head writing this are Adam Cole and Kyle OReilly. Where's Wardlow???
I think RaterFTR is a solild next for Mox but not as a team for the main title. Let them go for the trios first and tell Mox 'live your fantasy we will break everything around you down'. Anyone who is willing to step up against Mox during has their back up all the time, think that way a lot of younger talent can step up. Have a solid match against Mox and lose because of the experience difference. Do that till someone gets over by the crowd or things need a change and put Darby in as a surprise contender after being off with injury or whatever. My motn was def Ospreay vs Fletcher closely followed by Mercedes vs Kris. I loved the Okada matches but something is missing there and I still dont know what because it is damn good.
They've been trying and giving up on the invasion/takeover since Brandy and Niyla were collecting scalps for the Nightmare Collective. The only story they've committed to is the story of them trying to make a takeover story work.
@@MDestron2282 he also didn't say best out of a bad lot. It's just another example of the AEW fanbase gaslighting themselves into thinking something is good.
@@WrestleJuice plenty, yes but not nearly as much as people claim, and it travels in all directions. we see the bad faith and pay it no mind, hopefully.
@WrestleJuice Yeah, just to clearify my hot take. I'm not saying all AEW complaints are bad faith. No one is prefect. I'm just saying the ones that are bad faith are insane to me. Like seeing the same people that complained about nothing happening on Rampage and Collision. But now they are complaing that the C2, Death Rider segments, and stars like Toni Storm are on those shows.
Putting Ricochet into the finals with Okada and having him do the superman thing would have completely restored peoples faith in him. But they let Ospreay do it instead even though he didn't need it. To be fair i don't think Ricochet could have pulled it off as well as Ospreay did, but still should have been their choice since okada winning was a given and all of it was overshadowed by the return of Kenny Omega anyways.
Please stop with Hangman in main events. In ring, he's nothing special. His character work is awful. When he was champ, his run was bad. I don't mind Edge v Mox but they should be pushing Swrve, Hobbs, Wardlow, Darby, White, Ospreay, OkadaTakeshita in the main event. (maybe Lashley too?). Guys who have characters we can root for. Sadly OC still does some slow kicks which ruin an emotional match for me because he could be compelling too. They have the talent but now they have to give us a reason to care.
I actually agree that this is really good character development from ricochet it’s just I don’t like the character it makes me want to look at some thing else which is what I’ve been doing since he started basically, when he starts talking I switch to something else and then I go back for the parts of the show that I do like so I don’t feel the need to complain about some thing just because I personally don’t like it🤷🏽♀️ at the same time it gets tiring being told by people that you have to like something because it’s development, and if you don’t you’re a wwe shill 🙄 the truth is you can watch or not watch any of these wrestling promotions anyway that you want to like me watch the parts you enjoy and discuss them and just look at some thing else when the parts you don’t enjoy or on the screen I never understand why we feel the need to force our opinions on other people.
I'm glad someone is finally talking about the poor commentary team. I don't think TK will address but that whole table needs to be re-worked outside of Nigel. I enjoy JR cuz there are some basics to commentating that he does immediately and others don't seem to get. So I don't mind him on 1 or 2 matches per ppv but him doing sit down segments would be great.
You are dead on about AEW commentary. Nigel and Taz are wonderful. Excalibur and Tony are painful. JR is a Trainwreck but I kinda enjoy the randomness a little.
Hit the nail on the head with AEW needing to pick thier guys and run with them. Mox has become a crutch for TK. Everytime times are hard, he turns to Mox to be champion and features him predominantely. He did it with the Punk situation and hes doing it now with declining ratings. Mox isnt the answer. They need to focus on the future.
I doubt AEW will ever even approach what they were doing 3 years ago.. The big voices in the fanbase just make it not worth it and they have a thing with taking joy in running casual fans off
Rico reminds me of todays version of TJP No matter how much cool stuff TJP did, and tattoos he got je always felt corny. Rico can fly and dresses like a secret agent but he still can't shake looking like a dork in cool costume
Hot Take: IDCW TF Yall think, JR is still the man! Not 1 person commentating in AEW will have even a tenth of the respect, the amount of legendary calls, ect. as JR! What do you expect him to say, when everything hes seeing is so phony & literally has no reasoning involved!? But yea, your boy Xcalibur is just perfect 🤦🏾♂️
Tony needs to step down as head of creative. It's beyond embarrassing now. The vast majority of wrestling fans are ignoring the product for a reason. Tony doesn't know what he's doing and the "journalists" who go to these scrums just encourage him with their arse licking.
AEW just does not know how to book baby faces. Darby leaving brass knuckles for Commander, Undisputed all taking out MJF, none of this is good baby face psychology. The reason AEW has a lack of baby faces in the main event scene is because they do not know how to build storylines for baby faces simply put
I'm sorry but a new face getting embarrassed by a main event face makes no sense. Why not introduce Ric as a heel and do this story...... Then join Hurt. Or better yet, use an actual heel like MJF for the embarrassing storyline. Then have Rico turn on Swrve as a face tag team..... Rico turns and joins hurt synd...... The issue with AEW is they don't develop faces and heels, they do a single story then pretend it doesn't exist for the next story if it is a story I hope Rico gets a push but they have dampened the crowds fire towards Rico so quickly.
And nah kenny isn’t on his last stretch lol maybe his last stretch as a full time athlete but doubt he’s done after this contract. I’m sure he will be given a legends type of contract or if you want to call it part time. Also he’s not facing okada at revolution. Surprised you even said that when they obviously gave the frame of all in between them
I’m not convinced by the Ricochet stuff. Unlike Hangman and McIntyre, he’s not a good enough promo and character guy to drag himself out of an intentional burial situation. Yes he could be involved with the Hurt Syndicate, but he’ll just be the high flyer of the group and stuck there. Until they’re done and Ricochet is back to being mid-card “make them look great” hand

Ricochet doesn't need to buy into the humiliation; He needs to ignore it, just think everyone's jealous, and lean into the Pretty Ricky schtick. People are jealous that he looks good bald, that he's so athletic, he's charismatic, he's better than them. He doesn't need a Joker arc. "No, it's the children who are wrong!"
Oh, hey made the hot takes. Just want to clarify what I meant for momentum. I meant ring in and creatively they have it. They have the pieces, like you said and they been using them to put on good shows. I just feel that because its AEW and there are so bad faith takes about them right now. Its a harder up hill climb. Like I dont even think Copeland is the long term PPV plan much less the guy to beat Mox. I think it just something to load up that first Max Dynamite. But I seen people complaing about an ex WWE being the savior. Yet Cope coming out here makes sense. It's a logical chain reaction. FTR saved Orange, FTR got jumped because of it, and FTR and their buddy came back to get even.
Are you kidding me ..... they killed him, he left the WWE to become the biggest joke in wrestling.... they buried him last night there no coming back .... AEW exposed all his flaws. The promo sucks. Wrestling is mid - and choreographed personality of Sponge Bob ....Mjf .... when in history of wrestling has baby faces used the number advantage to beat down a heel after the heel pinned the baby faces clean ... this booking is comical ...... Mone match was ridiculous... how many finishers can you use in one match how many times can you get dropped on your head and no sell 2 second later power bar back at full. It was a spot fess There was logic just to win with a roll up are you kidding me 😮

Mox isn't beating edge. It's telegraphed so hard that Edge is winning the title so Christian can cash in.
Oh wow, I didn't consider that, but that's very, very possible
I would absolutely HATE this lol
If AEW actually has a real plan in place with this Ricochet thing I wouldnt be surprised if hes a babyface by the end of next year
The D-Riders story is so Mid that after Private Party got the titles they’ve been relegated to backstage segments.
A lot of stage cues where late last night. To many people standing around waiting for music cues.
Worlds End wasn't perfect, I would've flipped either the Mone VS Kris result or the MJF VS Cole result, but it was still another great show
I see rated ftr winning the trios titles.
I’m happy for FTR - glad they are back in a prominent place. Wishhh it was with someone else lol
Jay white got robbed!!! I was there. My seats were by the stage. One of my favorite shows I’ve been to.
I feel like it’s really obvious that Christian is cashing in on whoever beats Mox
TK needs to find his nWo so he can draw more comparisons to wcw
In a world post Luigi the last thing I need to see on my TV is Sasha’s character
Crazy how Ricochet's best character work has been outside of WWE. Both from Lucha Underground and recent AEW heel-up.
So his best character work was as a mute and randomly pretending to be a prat with a goofy laugh? 🤦♂️🤡
Real solid character work. 🙄😆
@@gmac673 He didn't say it was solid. Just that it was his best. I'd argue that it was his only character development.
@@MDestron2282 he also didn't say best out of a bad lot. It's just another example of the AEW fanbase gaslighting themselves into thinking something is good.
Let’s agree that wwe creative didn’t invest in him as character.
"bad faith" is a crutch used by fans to avoid facing the reality that not everyone likes what they like.
Yeah but then there’s ACTUAL bad faith. Which there is plenty of.
@@WrestleJuice plenty, yes but not nearly as much as people claim, and it travels in all directions.
we see the bad faith and pay it no mind, hopefully.
I see way more bad faith than actual criticism.@@timmutohfan
@GM_Sanjit_Ramesh I see it more from pro-aew accounts, is that what you mean?
What i hope hapens at all in omega vs okada darby mox thunder rosa vs toni storm ospreay vs takeshita
Athena vs mercedes
Taz was sorely missed on commentary when he was gone
AEW has always had all the pieces to the puzzle! It’s just now it has a few thousand pieces & TK can’t seem to put it together
The star ratings will be less hot & fresh :(
Ice cold!
@@WrestleJuice not as cold as…
Those other guys
I'll be shocked if Uncle Dave doesn't give Okada/Ospreay at least 6.5
Ricochet as Prince Puma is unmatched that's where I first experienced him as a wrestler and they did a perfect job of making him the guy.
Adam Copeland was better in Haven.
You are dead on about AEW commentary. Nigel and Taz are wonderful. Excalibur and Tony are painful. JR is a Trainwreck but I kinda enjoy the randomness a little.
💯 on commentary they are terrible minus Nigel and taz
Hit the nail on the head with AEW needing to pick thier guys and run with them.
Mox has become a crutch for TK. Everytime times are hard, he turns to Mox to be champion and features him predominantely. He did it with the Punk situation and hes doing it now with declining ratings.
Mox isnt the answer.
They need to focus on the future.
Omega v Okada will be at All In not Revolution.
Hope Kenny has a match a Revolution
Ohhhhhh man!!!! (JR voice)
I doubt AEW will ever even approach what they were doing 3 years ago.. The big voices in the fanbase just make it not worth it and they have a thing with taking joy in running casual fans off
Rico reminds me of todays version of TJP
No matter how much cool stuff TJP did, and tattoos he got je always felt corny.
I’ve never been a fan of ricochet, and this just makes me lean further away from him
Tony needs to step down as head of creative. It's beyond embarrassing now. The vast majority of wrestling fans are ignoring the product for a reason. Tony doesn't know what he's doing and the "journalists" who go to these scrums just encourage him with their arse licking.
I quite liked Matt Menard on commentary. Get him back in there. Anything over Excalibur JFC 🙄
Not a question but. Where’s WARDLOW?!?
Injured
@ dam it
AEW just does not know how to book baby faces. Darby leaving brass knuckles for Commander, Undisputed all taking out MJF, none of this is good baby face psychology. The reason AEW has a lack of baby faces in the main event scene is because they do not know how to build storylines for baby faces simply put
PPV of the year? I’ll take Wrestlemania.
The issue with AEW is they don't develop faces and heels, they do a single story then pretend it doesn't exist for the next story if it is a story
I hope Rico gets a push but they have dampened the crowds fire towards Rico so quickly.
Rico Tate at it again
Could Edge beat Mox, and then Christian immediately cash in on Cope?
5:47 it’s not undisputed era it’s UNDISPUTED KINGDOM get your stuff together
There is just no coming back for Ricochet. He really hung himself. I cant ever see him the same way again. Hes done.
Taz came back this week
😂 power packer you're insane
The stars of aew are the ex WWE guys
You're doing your review on Monday? Sounds like you're turning into... Those *other* guys!
Oh no not….. those…. OTHERGUYS
I really want aew to flourish and wwe to continue to do great going into 2025.
why do u keep saying okada vs omega is happening at revolution when its clearly gonna be at all in
Some people love telling their life story in the comments. 😅
Omega/Okada is at All In.. not sure how you missed that foreshadowing bud...Paying attention to the product like Bryan Alvarez 🤷♀
Yeah Okada was staring at that poster like it was the wrestlemania sign only thing he didn't do was point to it
Maybe AEW should learn how to book the matches to people actually care about them! nuance isn’t a story.
@@NathanGuffey-k3t "Nuance isn't a story" No but it is a way to tell a story. Which they did. This is asinine.
Also your implying no one wants to see Omega vs Okada. Okay. Top shelf take.
@@NathanGuffey-k3t "Nuance isn't a story" No but it is a way to tell a story. Which they did. This is an asinine take.
Also this implies no one cares about Omega vs Okada. No story there clearly 🤦♂
JR was so cringey. 😬
Ricochet needs more devastating moves
The commentary is horrible, although I agree with Nigel and sometimes Taz, but Taz has nothing to work with. You can hear it in his voice.
Ricochets "Andrew Tate" and his humiliation is just blatant pandering to the exhausting kind of fans who'd bring political signs to a wrestling show.
What the hell is there to like about Nigel.. All he does is drool over Mariah May and pick on Tony Schiavone... He might be the worst one.
Dude makes me laugh man. Jeez.
Nigel is great
3:55 calling Adam Copeland underwhelming is just insulting friendo 🥵
The PPV was very good last night with (the Main Event being mid at worst) but almost every take is negative which is a drag tbh. Be happy with what we got last night.
Yeah heel richochet is so great I turn the channel when I see him
Ricochet doesn't need to buy into the humiliation; He needs to ignore it, just think everyone's jealous, and lean into the Pretty Ricky schtick. People are jealous that he looks good bald, that he's so athletic, he's charismatic, he's better than them. He doesn't need a Joker arc. "No, it's the children who are wrong!"
Friendo
I'll be honest Ricochet is the only person in 2024 to get actual heal heat as people have been going nuclear about him online.
Hardest disagree ever on excalibur. That dude is amazing
God no. Worst announcer in wrestling, has no business on national tv.
@timothyarnold1679 lmao yeah right.
@shadyhavok1 💯. Dude talks and talks and says nothing. He doesn't set up and build the story he blurts out the names of moves.
@timothyarnold1679 no way I think you just don't pay attention. Maybe he talks too fast for you?
@@shadyhavok1 nope, he's just terrible. Worse than all 3 of wwes and tnas play by play guys.
