Thanks for this one! The highland areas of CR are so special and really worth a visit. The refuge of Monteverde itself can often be a bit overcrowded, but the smaller ones nearby like Santa Elena and the one shown here are highly recommended. And it's always kinda breathtaking to see the Quetzal...
Costa Rica its a great country...i live in the city Alajuela and i can see the half of the birds that you show in the video...but in my backyard. One day i see 2 Toucans.

Haha, thanks, I guess :) The nicer shots are made with a digiscoping setup, my phone through my scope. When things get shakier and grainy I've had to switch to my camera which has seen better days ;)

You could argue that Costa Rica is a tourist trap ;) I guess it depends on what you're looking for. If you want to experience authentic tico culture, it's not the place of course. Santa Elena is a town that caters to people (mostly tourists) who want to experience this natural gem. For sure, I could personally do without the ziplining, hanging bridges, and whatnot. But I'd be hesitant to call an area with such ecological diversity a "tourist trap". That's a label I reserve for Manuel Antonio (just kidding, kind of). For birders (and the channel is about birds after all), I'd be hard pressed to recommend a better place to see a Three-Wattled Bellbird, for instance. I'd say the popularity is justified. If I switch to making culture-based travel videos I'll reconsider :D

I’m from Monteverde and live in Chicago and believe I do not like here at all I’m just being responsible with my duties and that’s it but I miss it and a lot! So why don’t you go on your mental Trap and leg people do whatever they want ? Bye!
@@jabirustories what happens is that authentic tico culture is never a product. Because it's the authentic one, it doesn't come to you because you pay for it, but because you're part of the culture. You can't for example, buy the experience of an old guy from the rural area, you can't buy the love for cooking of a random señora, or the stories of the past about how we ended up being like this. Also culture changes and it's dinamic, our culture is integrating with yours which is also the reason why prices are leveling with the cost of living of parts of the us, and why we have better internet and many more things
