Slow Day At Kansas Rocks

- Originally this day was going to be a 101 course. In my local Jeep club I put out an open invitation for any newcomers that wanted to take their Jeep off-road. We had almost 30 people say they were going. The day of only a handful of new drivers showed up. We warmed up on easy trails and the new guys wanted to go harder. Because our group was small we covered a lot of the park and got to watch the bigger guys play. Nobody broke and this was the first trip my entire family was able to go on. In this video my daughter is 13 months and my son is four years old. We had a great family day and met some new friends.

In another video he got stuck at the bottom of a muddy hill. We had to put a winch cable around his front axle to pull him out.

Even though the turnout was less than expected (10% of what was supposed to be there) we still made the best of it. I didn't get footage from the first half of the day because we were moving so fast. We hit 70% of the park and it wasn't until the afternoon when slowed down to watch the bigger Jeeps try harder obstacles. We still got to show three new Jeepers the ropes so the day was a success. My wife and family got to spend the day in the woods with me, but unfortunately my wife confided in me that she's done with crawling. She used to really enjoy it but her opinion has changed in her four-year hiatus (had kids). That's why I'm getting into Overlanding, because she said that kind of stuff she really enjoys (the scenery and slower pace).

Looks like a lot of fun, but the clean up on those Jeeps must be a real pain.

It's a great park. They just purchased an additional 160 acres. Check out their upcoming Frostbite event on Feb 25th. It's their biggest event of the year.

I've done the same thing with my doors off. Crawled through mud and never got stuck. Mud flinging was at a minimum.
Wouldn't do it again though.
