    As someone with sensitive skin (and migraines), I hate all the perfumes and essential oils they put in skincare, as well as the fact that they use something instead of parabens. BRING PARABENS BACK! Love your rant on the topic :)

    Saw the title of the video this morning while making coffee and got real excited. Then I saw the length of the video and decided to save it for bedtime. Both my dogs started barking as they hadn’t heard me laugh that hard in quite a while. I f-ing loves these types of videos from you - just raw and real and straight to the point. love it. I actively look for preservatives in my skincare because I want working, longer-lasting ingredients - not mold. It is though a bit of a struggle to find nonclean products but also cruelty-free with the science behind it.

    My hands, particularly my palms have been peeling like crazy due to all the washing and disinfecting lately. Kerasal, or its sister Uresal ointment has been very helpful in aiding with the peeling, but also with softening my hands. I use it for my feet after showers and also spread it on my hands. It has made a difference. Caroline's oiling of her hands reminded me of this :)

    THANK YOU for answering the question about "medical grade" skincare!! A lot of dermatologists in the US recommend using only medical grade. I had a dermatologist tell me that Clinique's cleansers and moisturizers were destroying my skin and that their vit C serum was worthless. She sold me on ZO and Skinbetter that i was purchasing for a year from her (cost me thousands of $$ BTW!!!) I saw no difference and did not know what to think. I thought I was just aging badly.

    Do you have any recent videos that you mention your fave moisturizers, foundations and concealers? I'm particularly interested in a very moisturizing moisturizer without hyaluronic acid, for dryer weather. Products that don't disappear after applying them as if you've put nothing on, but prefer products where you can feel the moisture lingering on your skin, with a slighty glowy appearance, not dull and matte, yet not tacky and sticky either, but more fatty and smooth with a nice spreadability. For example, if I use The Ordinary with HA, I have to apply an oil under it or it's too dry and I don't like using HA in dry weather, only if it's rainy out. Would appreciate any suggestions and just to see your favorites. Thanks!! 💜

    • @LLulu145
      @LLulu145 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      PS An example of a product I'm not a fan of is Cerave renewing night cream in the purple jar. It goes on dull and matte and waxy and if you put product over it it pills off as if it doesn't penetrate the skin. Hate it. I do like the texture of lush dream cream, but it's slightly heavy and hate the fragrance but I'm stuck using it as a night cream, even day cream in smaller amounts because I can't find anything else that does it for me.

    • @Stofje15
      @Stofje15 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you tried skin food light from Weleda? I've been using it for about a year, and it's been brilliant on my irritated, spotty skin. The light version sinks in quite well, but doesn't disappear on me, and I can layer oils or HA under it as needed, and that works beautifully too.

    • @LLulu145
      @LLulu145 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Stofje15 thanks so much, I have tried it and it's ok for me but not exactly what I'm looking for. I used the light version as well and I found it to be a little tacky and didn't like the way it wore under makeup, especially around my eye area. But I still have it and use it at night. I have also tried a pomegranate moisturizer by weleda also that I think I liked more. I may just try the clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion again. I haven't used it in many many years but I remember liking it. I think the original was supposed to have been more moisturizing though, which I'd probably like better. Thanks again, I appreciate it.

    I have to say. I've always kept certain products in the fridge simply for that lush cooling feel when I use them. Hydrating mist? In the fridge! My sheet masks? Fridge! One of my cleansers? Fridge! I *loooovvveeeee* getting out of a toasty warm bed and having a deliciously cool facial first thing on a morning. Aside from how it feels? No, keeping products in the fridge isn't necessary and does nothing to make a product work better or make it last longer.

    Love your advice, but I will have to disagree about Oxybenzone. I live in Florida where we basically live sunscreen and myself, my friends, husband, etc. could not understand the rashes we were getting on our skin, especially on the chest, inner thigh, and other places when using sunscreen. I started using Oxybenzone-free sunscreen and have shared the elimination of the rash with all close to me. It has been a game changer, no more rashes and we only use Oxybenzone-free sunscreen. We still use chemical sunscreens, just without this ingredient.

      Gillian Wills Thank you for that. No, I get the Oxybenzone Free in the same brand, Neutrogena, and the ingredients are relatively the same minus the Oxybenzone. Same with my friends who had a similar problem. They are taking it out of most sunscreens here now. It started last year, and has increased significantly this year.

    I hear a lot of people say that they don’t like fragrance in a product because fragrance in an inkey list can include/hide up to 3000 different ingredients. I don’t like products that smell like Dior perfume, but I don’t have an issue with products that smell nice. 🥰

      IIRC Caroline recommended their cleanser on national TV aka This Morning.
      Quite a few Dermatologists on TH-cam recommend them, including Dr Dray and Dr Davin Lim.
      I use CeraVe PM, and I like that it is lightweight, contains ceramides and niacinamide, and is free from fragrance, essential oils, and denatured alcohol.
      For reference, I am oily combo, sensitive to fragrance, and live in a sub-tropical climate.
      There are entire threads on Reddit devoted to CeraVe, especially the Moisturising Cream aka "CeraVe In The Tub" .
      Check those out, so you can get a sense of the brand, and what the overall user experience has been like.

    Omg yes, no essential oils on an 11 year old worn eczema... especially if you don’t know about eo’s
    Best cheapest option I have used for years, something with beeswax, like a hard lotion. Lock in moisture, and beeswax as a barrier.
    Eucerin, oatmeal baths, oils after baths
    Heavy lotions on top,

    But when I was in the army, they just gave me the heavy heavy tub of eucerin

    I use natural skincare brands not because I’m scared, it’s because the experience is so much better then something mass produced. When something is made in small batches and ingredients are sourced fresh you can tell the difference. Also it feels good to support small brands. If you ever used mahalo skincare or yuli you know what I’m talking about. The 5g/vaccine talk annoys me too.

      I've never mentioned Cetaphil. You're confusing it with CeraVe!

    Caroline how come Tropic MLM is bad but Neal's Yard MLM isn't? Is there some sort of fundamental difference? Because as far as I know they're both MLM pyramid schemes 🤷‍♀️
    Asking seriously btw, not being sarcastic or trying to catch you out.
    Love these videos ❤

      TBS at Home operated alongside the main company and do huge amounts for charity. I’ve seen it first hand. They pay well and don’t mess people around spending fortunes on their first set etc. It’s almost like MLM with a conscience if that makes sense? X

    Could you say organic without gagging? I think clean has such religious overtones. Like clean eating when we all know what the food ends up as...

      nommh organic is a legal term that has to do with food and herb production. You appear to be reacting to hype and not facts. Organic and “clean beauty” are not in the same league. Apples and oranges there. One is marketing and one is a complex system with third party oversight and accountability.

    Maybe we should start calling products with inadequate preservatives: guaranteed to develop nasties.

    I hate fragranced skincare in many brands not necessarily because they make me sensitive, but simply because I hate the smells, many make me want to puke, especially when put on my face and layered with several different products😂😂😂😂I'd rather use a scented candle 😂😂😂😂

    I am disappointed, that you are not even considering whether a brand is cruelty-free. It is far more important even than clean,

    Got a newsletter from Cult Beauty a couple of days ago promoting Biossance retinol product saying that most retinols in the industry are not Vegan... Really Queen? Just when I was thinking of giving them a chance. And Cult beauty sending that email, I mean really?

    Caroline 🧐 you say chase the science and then ignore science that petrolatum and mineral oil are the least irritating barrier ingredients for skin?? Just because it’s less expensive doesn’t mean it’s a no no. Thanks for making clear your stance on essential oils. I’m with you there 😊

      Megan she didn’t say it wasn’t safe, she said she’s not a fan. It’s just a barrier but it doesn’t ‘do’ anything for skin. If you want something to protect eye and lips( the thinnest skin) from the sun, to moisturise or reduce wrinkles Vaseline won’t do anything.

    So when are you going to make a video about conventional beauty myths? just sayin... I don't understand why you and other people who don't care for "clean" beauty products continue to make these videos. No one will argue your expertise or experience as an esthetician but when you and others make these videos...you are just as scientifically unfounded as the greenwashers. Where is your data or sources that backs up anything that you are saying? And please don't tell me that a cosmetic chemist told you so.......

    Here’s the rub. PARABENS can cause skin irritations in some people just like SLS. Why won’t cosmetic companies put on their product labels such a statement? They won’t- so these companies leave it to the consumer to figure out (after we spend the $). Little risk to them since - hey just like Caroline says - safe for “most” people, just sucks for the few. When did you start shilling for the big cosmetic companies.
