Hey, just wanted to say thanks for making this video. Your explanation of pump vs gravity helped solve an issue with my fish pond (I inherited it and had no idea what I was doing).
Hi mate I run a nexus 320+ pump fed and I’m glad you mentioned about the water level I had people saying my water level was wrong when I started my pond & channel But what you said is spot on 👍👍
With the return you are bang on mate, on a gravity fed the inner pipe isn’t required but is for pump fed. 👍🏻 also bung another 50 ltrs of media at least in the bio section.
Great update, answer one question I had. Just started my filter revamp to a nexus 320+ and did want to have to climb a ladder to get to it. I think Evolution Aqua’s pump fed diagram is not help full as it only shows an in ground pond. Look forward to future updates. Stay safe and well 👍🏻
Love the key point in regards to the nexus height when being pump fed. I’d still would want a redundant pond return pipe in case the current return one slows down or gets blocked. But I may not know what I’m talking about as I don’t own one. Beautiful clear water and colourful koi.
Just caught up with this. Your outer chamber is fine but plenty of scope to add more media which means more surface for the bacteria. Regarding pump speed try and keep as low as possible to allow your water more time exposed to the bacteria in the nexus. It’s a polariser filter you need for your phone. You can get them that just clip on over the camera lens. A more expensive way is to buy a phone case which the filter then fastens onto that. These are generally better filters but at a higher price 😉
Yes thanks mate. I'm adding another 25ltr of k1 in spring. My air pump is only 75ltr so I can only add another 25. My thoughts exactly with flow, that's why i only run at 55%.
Nice vid if you add more K1 I'd try and keep to K1 or K+ as you'll get a better boil with media of the same size. I know you briefly mentioned a sieve but come summer and the dreaded blanket weed it would save you a lot of water and cleaning time buy installing one of those little green pump fed sieves on the inlet just above the nexus 👍
@@oliverskinner8962 obviously the k1 i would do the same anyway but the sieve situation. But I'll see what happens Come the summer if need it or not but definitely keep it in mind
@@Sharpeyskoi I do it so that I'm maxing out the overall tank water volume by having the extra water even if it only seems a little bit of water if that makes sense ⁉️ A big part of koi keeping is water manipulation and making a body of water think that it's actually bigger than it is 👍👍👍
Just add a 4" sleeve or rubber boot to return pipe iv done it only thong with raising it is when the micro gets dirty your gauge flow pipe will fill up quicker
Hi Steve. Could you tell me why is my retro fitted pond pump keeps slowing down with the flow to the outlet. I've cleaned the retrofit and pump recently. Many thanks.
My nexus is pump fed, looks identical to yours, my pump runs 100% on oase 10,000 premium, my moving bed also looks identical also, my nexus also same height as yours with top of outlet higher than the pond. Seen so many videos of crap plumbed in everywhere, has to have a bottom drain etc etc, no it doesn’t, my pond is perfectly clear pump fed, through 55uv and nexus 220+, done, needs nothing more on 2000gallon pond.
@@Sharpeyskoi my fish are 20 years old plus, the owner passed away, they lived in a 4 ft deep small pond for years with no filter, no uv as had all packed in, a neighbour used to top up the pond and chuck food in now and again, fish are perfect, 4 large koi and one small one, only reason I built my pond was to save them, lived in pump fed pond all their life. Was actually quoted nearly 30k for someone to build a pond for me, telling me it needs, and it must have this and that, stick it, built it myself and love every minute I spend with the pond 👍
Hit All from Wisconsin, USA. Very Nice setup!!
Thanks so much

That's no problem at all
Thank you my filter has completely stopped. Don’t think this is due to the filter?
Could it be then pump?
@@Sharpeyskoi yes it’s the air pump it’s broken need to replace parts inside
The moving bed looks perfect to me. It needs to be a chaotic environment for the aerobic bacteria to thrive. So it's perfect. Pond looking good!
Cheers duck. Appreciate it

Nice one mate
Iv been thinking of doing that with my return for ages now i know it works 😂
Go for it
That is Hi All. Nice to be able to spell.
😆
K1 is moving fine mate do what suits you if it works leave it not everyone's the same 😉👍
That's what I thought

Yeah that's what i'm thinking. Come spring I'm going to add to it
Great video 👍 Love my Nexus.
Thanks Phil
It's working a treat and you know what they say if it's not broke don't fix it 👍😉
Exactly
Great video mate👍👍

Thanks Steve, I know what you mean about their diagram. I hope it helps out a few pond fed keepers out there

Yep going to add to it come spring

Yes I'm going to definitely add some more k1 come spring but I have to be careful as air pump is only a 75l

Sharpey my bruva there is a way to raise the water level in a pump fed nexus or easypod 💯👌👍👍👍

Great video, how did you get your nexus 220 through your house, we have no side entrance only standard doors, didn’t want to hire a crane, thanks pete
Hi Pete we have a side gate and we took it through sideways
Is the side gate double or single and do you think your nexus would go through a single door, thanks pete
@@petepoole1827 it was single. I think nexus is 80 something centermeters on its side
