Hi, you’re very welcome. These keys are pretty terrible to be honest, we see a lot that are broken after just a few years. Leaving the feedback really helps the channel so thank you :)
Was able to repair my Ford F 150 key by using your instructions. Bought a new key from e-bay, took out my old circuit board and installed it in the new key, switched the new (uncut) blade with the blade from my old key and it works! I had the same problem with it not flipping out correctly when you press the button as you mentioned in the video, but it works and will serve well as an extra key! Thanks for your video!
Hi Jeff, thanks for the feedback. Yes there does seem to be a problem if you swap the blade over. It's as if the flip mechanism gets damaged just in swapping the blade. To be honest the keys are a complete disaster
Thanks so much. The metal piece in the back that hooks to a key chain had popped out somehow, and wouldn't snap back in without taking it apart following your instructions.
Thanks for the video. I'm going to attempt a flip key shell swap next week. Both my keys have a broken hinge. Doesn't seem too bad judging from your video. Let's hope it goes OK.
@@TheCarKeyMan Hey there. I did the swap over a few days ago. You're right, they aren't great. The roll pin hole on my new key didn't line up correctly with my old blade. Ended up having to drill the hole out just slightly. Lock button is also a little stiff. However, it's ok. I can live with that. Better than paying for new ones. Thanks again for the video. It helped a ton. :)
Would you guys have any idea how to replace the silver handle part on one of these? (The part where the ring goes) I have a spare handle, I just can't seem to get it on. Thanks!
Thank you! The second of my Ford Fusion's keys broke the same way (same issue withy the first). Any tips for how to pop out and re-insert the pin holding the key blade? Attempted once, but could not get the pin reinserted on my first key replacement attempt?
Hi Jeremiah. Will they are a bit tricky just because the pins are quite short. The hardest part is keeping the pin still while applying pressure with long nose pliers. Have you tried that?
If you do this replacement do you have to reintegrate the key with the vehicle as in does it just go back to being a key for your specific vehicle or will it have to be recoded?
Hey, great video man! Unfortunately the same issue has happened with me, just wondering if you have an updated link for a bare replacement key and for the tools for it? Thanks😁
Can you buy just the spring clip piece that the blade goes into? Since that's all that really broke it seems kind of wasteful to have to buy a whole new shell. Still so much better and cheaper than trying to get a new one from Ford though.
Hi Ken. Well the problem is that Ford don't just sell this part. If you buy a replacement case and just use that part from it, it probably won't work because it's made slightly different. But give it a go
100% of the reason this happen is the pin is holding a channel on the keyblade instead of the pin going through a solid hole on a massive torque point for the key..
I have a 2016 ford fiesta and my key broke.. the remote works fine, but I have to use my spare key to turn on my car.. can I just buy a shell that has the key and move all the components from my working remote onto it ?
@@TheCarKeyMan the blade broke.. it was inside my backpack when I fell of my bicycle and when I checked the blade had broken off.. the remote still works, but I have to use a spare key to turn on my car.. my spare doesnt have the buttons it's just a key
The trouble with the the new car keys, the pin is very skinny and it brakes very easy, usually it takes about 4 to 6 months to brake. I'm surprised it lasted a year.
You just saved me $300 as Ford was very adamite about needing a whole new fob. I will see about ordering the exact fob for my vehicle do this! Thanks again!!!
Hi Katan, yes I believe these keys are bad as soon as you get them out of the packet. There is too much wobble in the blade assembly in my opinion, compared to most other keys
You’re the best ever! You saved me hundreds of dollars. I totally wish u could tip you

Do you know what size is the star screw so i can get a bit?

So you didn’t show how you pop the blade(key) in place?

HI, yes I'm starting to see this. Bit of a poor design that it can coome out so easily. Thansk for the feedback :)

Hi, thanks for watching. The only real issue with the swapover is that the replacement cases aren't great. Godo luck ;)

Video was a great help! My key wouldn't stay closed but thanks to this video I was able to safely disassemble the fob and fix the flip mechanism.
Great stuff Gregory, glad it helped and thanks for watching :)
Do you have a link for the pin at the end? Broke the metal part of key need to just replace it
Hi, I am away at the moment, I'll have a look when I'm back of my holiday
Can I just take the back piece that includes the old circuit board and put it into my new fob? Bypassing the removal of the circuit board itself?
Ho Trevor, what fault do you have with your key?
This video saved me hundreds of dollars, thank you so much
That's great news Sarah :)

Hi, I’m sure the silver part should be moulded as part of the case, so not sure you can swap this, sorry
@TheCarKeyMan might be late, but the silver ring handle comes out cause mine did and I had to pop it back in taking the fob apart
what is the size of the torque screwdriver needed to fit into it...
Thank you! The second of my Ford Fusion's keys broke the same way (same issue withy the first). Any tips for how to pop out and re-insert the pin holding the key blade? Attempted once, but could not get the pin reinserted on my first key replacement attempt?

I cannot find the new case and pin removal kit on amazon and your link does not work.
Hi David, sorry, email me at thecarkeymanUK@gmail.com and if you still need one I can help
If you do this replacement do you have to reintegrate the key with the vehicle as in does it just go back to being a key for your specific vehicle or will it have to be recoded?
Hi, it will still work fine ;)
The link for the new key doesn't seem to be working, do you have another one?
Hi Oliver, oh sorry, will have a look at that today
Is there any way to swap out the shanks from the old key into the new keys flip mechanism?
Hi, the old blade will come out of the flip mechanism, but you may need to modify it to fit into the replacement case
Exactly what I have needed and was looking for! Thank you so much
You're welcome jason, glad it helped :)

@thecarkeyman how big is that screw?
T-6
how can i program a new key fob for a transit connect 2019 ?
Hi, it needs to be done with a laptop
Where do you find Such a tiny torque screw
They are a funny size, I haven't seen them anywhere other than part of the key
100% of the reason this happen is the pin is holding a channel on the keyblade instead of the pin going through a solid hole on a massive torque point for the key..

@@TheCarKeyMan no
How did the key break? Is it just the blade? Does it look like the key in the photo?

Great stuff, really pleased it helped you :)

Hi Cameron, yes I agree, pretty poor. Did yours break?
@@TheCarKeyMan I don't own a car yet. But I work with car keys. And the newer models always breaks.

Brilliant, cheers! Nice and clear, worked a treat

Thanks . Great video

What torqx size
Morning, sorry I'm not sure
What size torque bit????

This has happened to me. My keys currently all taped together 😒
Yes, they are not very good I'm afraid :(
Well done!
Thanks, hope it helped :)
Thanks this video saved me 580$
Really! Pleased it helped :)
Dam ive spent $500 past yr on 2 of these junk key replacements. Next time ill buy one of these and give it a knock
Yes they are terrible keys.....
But there's a chip...
The chip is mounted on the circuit board, so when you swap it, the car will stil start
I had this bad experience .What bad quality crap not even covered by 1 year warranty..
What a bunch of crooks want $320 for a new key..

A few comments above someone replied that it is a T-6
I have to do this to mine so I will find out tomorrow
