@@tsubasaX_ There are thousands of Hispanic actors with great repertoires who can play scary, menacing, subtle characters. It's a compliment to say that no one else could do it, but do you know how many actors there are?
Just like Breaking Bad I shut out the whole world when watching Better Call Saul I get this numb feeling in my stomach, it's good, just so intense, seems so real, no other show has ever seemed so real to me and so intense, best shows ever!
Fring was even more terrifying in BCS. The way he threatened Nacho’s dad and even showed some of his rage (albeit in a scaled down way) to his minimum wage Los Pollos staff whom he usually only shows his affable side to was frightening. So good
It sounds like there was tension between him and Mando on set that day, which surprises me because they seem like the two most chill people on the show
I think if you put any two people in that environment, the cold weather , wind, everyone tired , you are going to say things you dont mean to say and do things you dont mean to do . The human condition.

Gus has you all fooled. He’s been scheming and evolving ever since he was forced to pay $2 for more cheese. He went from having to pay up charges for cheese to OWNING Nacho. You’re not fooling me gus. I hear those rolling Rs cutting through your attempt at sounding American.
He was in the Steppenwolf production of “Balm in Gilead” with Glenn Headley, Gary Sinese, Steven Bauer, Mark Margolis, and the inimitable Laurie Metcalf, directed by the brilliant John Malkovich. I saw it in New York in 1984, and I have worshipped each and every one of them since. The scenes at Don Eladio’s place in Breaking Bad are particularly exciting for me since they’re like a Steppenwolf reunion!
Came here from seeing Giancarlo's character pop up in community. I'm honestly infinitely grateful to him and everyone else involved in better call Saul. The last few weeks have been some of of the best weeks of entertainment I have ever experienced and I'm going to savour every moment of the last 3 episodes.
I feel like I am going crazy sometimes, am I the ONLY one who doesn't see Gus Fring as the bad guy? I am always behind him 100% even against Walt (Sorry).
Gus was more stable than Walt. More loyal too, as long as you didn't overstep or screw up. Gus was a careful businessman. He hired people who were happy making money and had no desire for more power. Look at the people Gus chose to hire: Mike Ehrmantraut. Gale Boetticher. Werner Ziegler. These guys were happy to make money and stick to the jobs they were paid to do. They were all low-key, professional, and tight-lipped (Gale might have potentially been an exception but we never got to see that play out). Gus was generally good to his employees. Gus only tried to kill Walt because Walt was dishonest and a real loose cannon who was bad for business. And Jessie knew too much, was loyal to Walt, and his drug addiction made him a massive liability. He only killed Victor because he overstepped his authority in learning to cook, and that's the first sign of being power hungry (he was also seen by multiple witnesses in Gale's apartment - sloppy). In short, I'd rather work for Gus than work with Walt any day.
I first found out about giancarlo back in the day, he was in a movie called 'Fresh'. It's an intense was movie. If you wanna see a young Giancarlo you should check it out.
I can only speak for myself here but I loathe the possibility of WW in Better Call Saul in any way. Lame ass fan service, too cheesy too forced. Getting Gail was good enough for me. At least I guess if they ARE gonna do WW, I hope they wait as long as they can. They're sure to get another few seasons, bridging the gap to breaking bad so soon in this current season would be garbage in my humble opinion
we've already had 3 seasons of the past. i wanna see what happens to saul after breaking bad took place, instead we're still hung up on events whose outcome we already know and characters who died on TV half a decade ago or more.
Giancarlo ..born in Denmark..has a background in theater from his mother who was an African American from Alabama and father a carpenter from Naples Italy, you do the math
I think Giancarlo must be confusing directors with somebody from a different episode. The director of this episode was Michelle MacLaren, one of the most seasoned Breaking Bad directors, definitely doesn't match the description he's giving.
Yeah, not sure what that was about. The director of the first episode is also a woman, and the director of the third episode is kind of a TV veteran who's really respected for his work, like the episode Chicanery (meaning it's unlikely he was 'frightened')
I wondered that too. However, I also remember hearing that Tom Schnauz directed some reshoots, and his description of the director would make sense then.
This actor has come a long way from having to play Spike Lee in "Do The Right Thing" SPOILER ALERT- No one did. Man that movie was overrated. It was almost good, but Giancarlo Esposito had to play a character that was like Spike Lee in real life while Spike Lee played "the hero" (GFR)
Johnston Steiner I met a traveller from an antique land Who said: “Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert . . . Round the decay Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
I'm a bit confused as to why Gus w/b upset with Nacho for what he did. Hector and he are not exactly friendly themselves. If anything Nacho s/h been offered a promotion, imo.
bartofilms nacho would obviously be fucked if Hector, or anyone else in the cartel found out what he did. So Gus took the opportunity to blackmail him for his own gain
He wants Hector to suffer. He wants to be the one to finally take Hector out but only after causing his as much pain as Hector caused him when he murdered his partner/lover(?)
There is an even better show to be made post BB and the plot should go something like this: The cartel finally find Jimmy and instead of killing him, they take him to their kingpin, who presents him an opportunity to make good by working for them as their money launderer created from their blue meth distribution. The kingpin is actually a queen-pin so to speak, a very beautiful & powerful Latina in her mid 30's, she is the new boss in town. Jimmy, asks the question: How are you even able make blue meth without a great cook like Walter White? The queen-pin smiles and says: My husband is the cook. That's when Jesse appears, and says: Sup..... BITCH!!!
What if he is why are people so against self confidence even in the form of arrogance if it is not disrespecting someone else you should feel however you want about yourself. People who lack confidence or self belief are only ones who see arrogance and confidence as an issue.

Really wish they do a Gus Prequel show. Lot of backstory you could do. His rise in Chile then to the Usa.
Yes.
they can't, no one else can play gus
they’d have to recast, and that would just ruin it.
I think just a movie would be enough
Gus was originally a General in Pinochet 's regime before he launched His Pollos Hermanos business

I'd pick Gus over Walter White towards the end of Breaking Bad. Walter White was just consumed by ambition.
Gus was more stable than Walt. More loyal too, as long as you didn't overstep or screw up. Gus was a careful businessman. He hired people who were happy making money and had no desire for more power. Look at the people Gus chose to hire:
