About Trajes Fatais: the team claims one of the devs of the team took the money and just abandoned the team, leaving the remaining members that did intent to make the game without money to create the game. It's not cancelled as far as i know, but don't look like it will come out any time soon.
Also, some of the former developers got together and started their own team. Believe me, they developed a new game from scratch and even got a nomination for this year's TGA. The name of the game? Pocket Bravery!
A punishing genre - for both developers and players !! For indie developers: The complexity as you say compounded with every new character (balancing!) and finally the extremely brutal reality of online communities of players in fighters being pulled by the top/big games aka "Winner Takes All" (befittingly enough). Shattered - Looks excellent in design style. Imho they really need to make the pixel art frame animations FLOW - as you say some are far from complete in this early build but it's got an interesting premise. First Cut: Samurai Duel - Saw this recently and it looks like a worthy successor to Bushido Blade style: "One Cut! One Life!" style weapon fighting games. Agree my favourite pixel art look so far by a long way! Under Night In-Birth II - The anime presentation with these types of games is always attractive with inventive characters however the style of fighting for me is way too "busy" for me though can see why this style appeals to some. All the others have some excellent features as well in all honesty. However, for 2023, if anyone wants a current indie fighting game that imho is 10/10 in quality then Pocket Bravery is my Indie Game Of The Year for 2023: Statera Studio channel just released their 2023 Colloseum Finals matches if you want a peek at some top-level players playing the game too.
@@ClemmyGames He is referring to Woolie Madden (of the Woolie Vs channel) who has a "Getting into Fighting Games" series and is a long-time member of the "FGC" (Fighting Game Community) and promoter of fighting games.
Seeing this reminded me of Hinokakera, an old indie fighting game that was actually developed by a single guy, yet it has fallen into obscurity these days.
In defense of Coreupt's spelling, this will actually be good for search engines since the proper spelling of "corrupt" could get lost easily being so generic. A purposely misspelled title will actually make it easier to find on Steam and Google, etc.
Thanks for posting another of these. I'm surprised you gave Blazing Strike the top spot, though it is neat. I'm also mildly disappointed that Dojo Masters didn't appear, since the game does look cool but has no audience. I totally forgot Shattered existed because it was (is?) just on Twitter right now.
Is Coreupts developers purposely misspelling things really that cringe? Mortal kombat has been misspelling every word that starts with a C since the 90s
2:40 Baloo?! LOL (Talespin - 1990)... Good reference 7:31 Scarecrow? This is a Cangaceiro, it's equivalent to an outlaw cowboy, only from northeastern Brazil. The character doesn't even have the characteristics of a scarecrow (Straw)
Lucy Fernandez is a character for Mugen. And also in the mugen mod KOF zillion(?) I forget what it’s called. She even uses the same stance. Must’ve been created by the team.
Umbral Core actually had a beta last year. I think it was in the summer/ fall time frame. I'm sure you can find impressions from then. It doesn't look to be a bad game.
Fighting games are not my cup of tea, but thanks again @bestindiegames for this top. I like to know the new games of every genre. Any point and click top x upcoming? event if this is a top 5, I would be more than happy.
Ehh, with a few exceptions, every traditional fighter in it is either realistic, animesque, or a mix of the two. That's NOT saying I dislike ALL of them or anything; I like Under Night In-Birth myself. But I think some variety in the aesthetic department like going for a 2000s Cartoon Network look, something akin to Samurai Jack or Billy & Mandy, would be nice. That's why out of all the fighting games that aren't sequels to pre-existing games and the like, Arcus Chroma: Origins is one I'm looking/I've looked forward to the most. Also, I disagree with your thoughts on the in-game sprites for Arcus Chroma; I just think they're neat. I have a thing for lineless art styles like Samurai Jack's.
I need only one , the best fighting game 😂 i played street fighter so intensive maybe 15 years. The other fighting games like fatal fury , samurai showdon, killer instict , king of fighters and others was just for relaxing a little . Street fighter have the best combatsystem and precision.
@@ClemmyGames if i was younger i did have friends , we play everyday together at home . Now most dont play fighting games , me also not so much . I miss the time together playing games. But other side i play also less .
Sigh....i've been waiting on Blazing Strike for what feels like forever, it's been one of my most anticipated games ever since i first saw it a few years back. I feel like the game has been pushed back at least 3 times. I wonder what the issue is?
Be nice if indie fighters offered new approach and ideas to VS games rather than derivative, recycling same exhausted MVC gameplay mechanics / air juggles... that was what made SNK team such an innovative bunch as they kept pushing new ideas to compete with Capcom team. As a result of highly competitive arcade fighting genre in mid and late 90s, we saw emergence of unique games like Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct, which opened up their own lane in a crowded space.
@@kingj9664 He's not wrong, this is something we are trying to address as well, we are looking more into what casual players who don't want to feel like a fighting game is more homework or a second job to be able to enjoy it with many options and experimental gameplay modes that aren't just focused on fighting, more of throwing hands a different way. Soul Caliber II is hailed as a great title because of Sword Master mode, fighting games focusing for more on competitive players is just tapping at the already wrung well of a small player base and it'll only lead to bringing in hardcore players overall.
@@BloodruneEnt. Still I think this guy's been a bit too harsh because there are some good looking fine games in here they look really good like 5 fours fighters and I cannot find that very discouraging that another indie creator is putting down people doing their best to make a game which funny enough his game is just a typical beta mob
@@beans9872 No they aren't and isn't slightly different they are different with art styles and even finding mechanics. Maybe you just don't recognize that because maybe you're just not a fan of fighting games

I agree on the anime fighter thing. Many have been hard for me to get into because they're extremely busy, mechanically and visually
I just wish I could convince my friends to play pocket bravery with me :/
Got it day 1 and think it’s great. Especially after some needed updates
