    Very simple to catch = A is NAM, B is ToneX. Usually ToneX is often less gainy.

      Maybe not that simple after all.

    B: Much more harmonics than A. In my opinion B wins. . For me B sounds very similar to the real amp. Nice to read the varied comments too. Often we forget that with age some frequencies are not perceptible.

    I'm not going to lie and say I heard a clear difference or preferred one over the other. They sound pretty much identical to my ears. Definitely close enough to work with. I guess the feel while playing might inform a decision on one platform over the other, but from purely a listening experience, they are the same to me. So, given that there is no NAM pedal yet and the Tonex is inexpensive, an easy choice. I hope that some day someone will write an app that can take the exports from Kemper, NAM, Tonex, etc. can convert from one to the other.

    I'd guess A is NAM and B is Tonex. I've used both and they're great. Lately I'm using Tonex almost exclusively for the amount of amps offered, especially from trustworthy 3rd party companies such as JS. It's also less CPU intensive and has better workflow for me.

    I think the clip A was less saturated but sounded closer to the real amp than the clip B, which had a little different highs - at least to my ears.

    I like B better and bet it is NAM. A has that typical ToneX highend sucking. In the end I was a bit shocked how much better the real amp soundend and how close A & B are... Gnak, I will now listen again, it seems I go against the mainstream opinion :-). After third listening (1st impression after listening on the phone: B=NAM, 2nd listening on monitors & headphones: B has more high content, A has typical highs sucking from ToneX, 3rd listening: I get the arguments why A has a nice round sound, but still believe B is NAM, maybe because I decided that for me while 1st & 2nd listening :-).)

      I can't even believe these people who say they can't hear a difference or heard the opposite

    I listened nearfield with some entry-level monitors and could not hear any significant differences. If I had to pick, I'd say I very slightly prefer B. However, I'd be happy with any of these two sounds.

    I use a Tonex pedal but would ne more than happy with either. Both sounded very close to the original source

    A sounded a little “hyped” to me and I assume was NAM. B sounded “less processed” to me. Somewhere in the middle would sound better. I assume Tonex algorithm will continue to improve.

  • @Sea_Jay

    Both sound really good. I could only detect the slightest difference in clip B. I'd play any of them and be happy!

    Clip A = NAM (closer to real amp), Clip B = Tonex (loss of high end)

    Really… the difference is so small thru my stereo I would pick A or B based on the price… or the % of return! Hahaha! Anyone can tell how many unit of the tonex and the NAM are defective/returned/…?? Are they both as reliable as the other?

    A sounded better than B, B was a bit darker and less clear

  • @picksalot1
    @picksalot1 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Both were very close. On the long clip, I initially thought "A" sounded a little darker than the real Amp, but that switched on the other clips. 🤷 I'll guess "B" was NAM.
    We have good solutions for just about every use scenario and budget. Thanks 👍

    All 3 sound amazing! Clip A is a tiny bit brighter relative to the real amp. It was hard to hear the difference between B and the real amp. I think B is a tiny bit warmer relative to clip A though. They are all really close. Buy the cheapest one and add in some EQ to taste and you're set!
    I have no idea which is which!

    I really barely hear any differences if any. All sound great. For fun, I’ll guess A is ToneX and B is NAM.

    But in mix demo i like NAM more.

    B has an upper mid hump to it. I'm going with A = NAM; B = Tonex.

    Clip A by a hair. I can't imagine anyone would be able to tell the difference in a mix.

  • @dutch2g

    Nam wins…but it doesn’t really matter…both sound good, ease of use and availability of amps and price are more important.

    There's something unnatural about the decay of notes played on the tonex that appears to be demonstrated in null tests (listen to how tonex gets louder as the note trails). NAM does this much better, and is the reason why I'm moving away from Tonex. It's still great for low to medium gain tones, but for anything high gain, it falls apart on many amplifier types.

  • @РоманСтаврогин

    B - tonex

  • @effektgeraeteinfo
    @effektgeraeteinfo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    These comparisons really annoy me because they have no value at all. The three recordings could just as well all come from the real amplifier with minimally altered EQ. That's how minimal the differences are in direct comparison. It makes no difference at all in the mix and the average listener couldn't care less.
    These tests are only for people who are not interested in the music but only in technical gobbledygook.

      Or, you could view it as the time and effort that Jason has put in has been very useful and has incredible value in illustrating your position, which is I assume that modellers are now incredibly close to the real thing?
      I’ll just say thanks Jason for a great comparison.

    I like them both but prefer to use Tonex as I find Nam incredibly CPU hungry. For what it's worth, I do prefer the Tonex plugin over the pedal as the presets seem to have more width. Maybe it has to do with the pedal running at 44.1 versus 48 or 96 in the Daw with the Tonex plugin.
