Oh no! I love your listicles! Now I have to call you 3 listicles Jesse. Or tri-sticle. I really don’t want to say triple-sticle but I think it needs to be said
You make very enjoyable, watchable videos. Your presence and delivery are spot on perfect, comfortable. Vibe is juuuuuuuuuust right. Humor is dry and sardonic which is right in my wheelhouse. Thanks very much for all the work you put in to these.
I wish to increase your engagement because you are so engaging. I will watch this more than once, not just because it conveys useful information but because it is pleasurable and stimulates my thinking about solutions I have developed but do not recognize and solutions I can experiment with today. Thank you.
Me too! I know a way to lift Jesse’s engagment Like every comment on this vid and leave comments. Lots of comments. The TH-cam algorithms weight the engagment of comments and likes of comments highly. Very highly. So easy to do while watching Jesse’s brilliant video. Spread the word! Let’s get Jesse to the top!
The pouches are a great idea. I'm forever digging through tubs for barely remembered things. I've actually been buying these aesthetically, with no real purpose, just waiting for you to give me guidance… Please don't stop doing these lists, only because they are actually useful. Cheers.
Well, that was a total joy, Jesse! Thank you. I found myself excitedly writing down 'clamps as legs', 'pink dots', 'pouchify your life', and even 'look into flattering chaps?'. I'm going to seriously embrace at least half of those suggestions.
Omg. This. Is. Brilliant. In every way. The music, the lighting, your audio, your voice and rhythm of speaking, the cuts, the music, the dynamic increasing volume of music at times, your humour. Nailed it bro We cherish your vids Thank you
Thank you! So tired of people trying to sell me shite I don't need or want. I like the problem solving aspect and figuring out how to make it work without spending 100k. Love this...
I love that outdated was in quotes. Slays me how many youtube educated "filmmakers" call a camera outdated because they are always chasing after the latest and greatest.
On the topic of diopters vs tubes. For ultra macro shots I’ve always used close up diopters, because often I’ve acquired them in groups of 3 or 4. But if I were to be running and gunning, I would use the tubes. I’ve used them more in film photography, and they work great, even for making makeshift tripods, out of a hat and a tube, for self shooting spontaneously. For me, diopters have primarily been a creative tool; split diopters and prisms. Extension tubes are just durable, and quite versatile pieces of metal.
As far as pouches go- an alternative that most people probably have on hand and give extra padding are soft lunch boxes. I keep my photography camera in one and it’s great
the last tip/tool in the video is the most important and professional one tbh anyone who is watching youll end up seeing this on tons of sets with great DP's/gaffers
I freaking LOVE this video. My recent After Effects kick musta fed the algorithm to bring me here. I have 30+ rubbermaid tubs in my apt and counting, your dollar store pouch tip is going to be life changing. If your leather is too thick to work a gasket punch through it, then get yourself some hole saw drill bits that have the bit protruding as a :"center" lead for the saw.. Clamp the leather to some scrap wood that's deep enough to accommodate the leading bit if protecting surface beneath. If you can't eyeball when you're through the leather then you'll feel it when the saw teeth contact the wood. After each leather piece is drilled, move to a fresh section of the scrap wood. And wear PPE! :) Anyhoo, imma smashing that like and subscribe button. xD
I have a tiny one for paper that would never cut through leather, but had a beefier Olfa one in my hands a few weeks ago at the fabric store. Shoulda bought it! I will next time!
FYI extention tubes deteriorate the image on anamorphic lenses because they effect the flange distance. On normal lenses that just impacts focus marks, but with anamorphics that brings the anamorphic element out of calibration and makes it soft.
This was a great treasure trove of tips and equipment. I haven't done an overhead shot in a while, but I used a surface level and that worked pretty well. For the leather, could you use the large drill bits that cut a plug from the wood?
The cool thing about the mirror hack is that it makes the camera "coplanar" with the surface. A level on the camera only works if the table is perfectly level too. To trim the leather, you're talking about a hole saw? that would actually cut the hole in the centre at the same time! I also have these small diamond hole saws that might work! Will report back!
Thank you! You’ve just solved a problem I’ve had for a few months now, I love my RB67 but it’s been a nightmare to get it right on a tripod. Defo going to get a geared head now 😊😊
Yeah, if you bump that dial and it loosens, that's a lot of weight flopping over too! Lots of geared heads on Facebook Marketplace where I am (should have looked there first!) I'm probably going to pick up another one.
@@jessesenko yeah I've had a bunch of times where I've lined up my shot, tightened the ball head and then let go of the camera and it moves to a worse framing.
For labelling, I've found gaffer tape is really helpful. I got a five-color pack for $15, which is great for identifying different batteries (both for my camera and drone), as well as pouches.
God is in the details indeed. Love your attitude. Also at thrift stores you can get - high quality sometimes unused keyboards for your computer. Cheap blankets and bedsheets for diffusion and negative fill, and once in a while an expensive piece of gear that no one at the store knows what it is.
I don't know who you are, or what your channel is about. But after one video, this video, I am all in. I am signing up for wherever this channel goes. You are my people.
Canning video...do it! Sexy lighting - macro - moving camera and or moving jars - color of the jam - translucent reds glowing out of the darkness. High end product film with homemade goods - elevate personal craft!!! Nice video. Leather is a great tip.
Lol, thanks, and ironically when I was stuck in advertising I built a portfolio out of documenting trying to stay out of the grocery store as much as possible. There were many sexy mason jar shots.... lol
Speaking of spring clamps, Home Depot has full size Pony clamps for a buck a piece. This has been their standard price for a couple of years here in California. A great deal.
Wow, the same 2" ones are $4 here in Canada so I just get the Bessey ones which are just a bit nicer and a buck more! I think my small ones in the video are the 1" from home depot
Thank you for the video and the laughs, Jesse. I wish there was a simple / easy / portable way to transport foam core and large gels without having them get all janked up :(
Hah, pouches? Gotta give it a try. You did manage to fit equipment from four bins into one? It sounds too good to be true, but it sounds plausible as well😅
lol, yeah! just condensing old tech... old Apple TV I don't want to throw a way? Out of the box and into a heavy duty ziplock and into the bin. Firewire cables from 20 years ago? just save three and add them to an "obselete cables" messenger pouch. It's a revolution!

I used an RB67 for years. I never shot a single frame that the camera wasn't mounted on a Manfrotto 410 geared head. Use the same head (I have two, actually) with my full frame DSLR! Ball heads are for light-weight, small cameras! 😉
100% I took it out by the lake for that thumbnail photo and imagined it flopping over and taking the whole tripod down with the momentum. Already looking for a second one for myself. Will keep my eye out for a used 410!

Use a circle cutter to cut circles. It’s like a compass but has a blade. Olfa makes a great one and most art supply stores stock them.
