    I have to admit. I cut to the beat a lot, so this tip hurts a bit, I'm not gonna lie. But I also realise that my videos are different, even though my inspiration is in film, not gaming. Maybe I can get away with cutting to the beat because of my less hectic editing style, but I also run the risk of trailerfying my videos. Either way, great video and tips. Something to think about.

    • @jessesenko
      @jessesenko 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks! Yeah just something to think about and be conscious of. Generally I’m speaking from a narrative film perspective, but I do like your term “trailerifying” I’ll steal that :)… not everything has to be hype all the time. It’s not my vibe generally.

    I’m a VFX artist for a living and my only rationale for wanting something shot 12k is for retention of detail in blue/green screen VFX plates and latitude for reframing in post.

    • @jessesenko
      @jessesenko 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That's what seems to be coming through. I've also heard vfx folks arguing that 12k is even a bit much to wrangle sometimes... but I have NO clue. Not my world, but would love to integrate more VFX into my work.

    Man. I’ve never not been sick of young men who claim to be “filmmakers.” I went to film school and I’ll be honest, it wasn’t all that great. What it did teach me is that there is a huge difference in actual filmmaking and content creation. Peter McKinnon and the whole lot have really fucked it for us. Orange and teal, cool transitions, speed ramping and drone footage creates this sense of pseudo emotional and quite vapid content. Cameras are getting so good, that it’s relatively easy to get a pretty shot but without the proper attention to detail, that’s all it is.

    • @jessesenko
      @jessesenko 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      it's slick videography, not "filmmaking". Thanks for watching!

  • @Biosynchro
    @Biosynchro 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I also wish that film producers would stop with the weird LUTs. Like dirty green or teal and orange. Colour theory is not an aesthetic, or an explanation, or a reason. Let the light do the talking. At least black and white is immune from LUT syphilis. Music has become pollution. Selective focus has become a thoughtless parody. 'Full frame' has become an obsession for people who either don't watch movies, or for people who pretend to understand optics. This video is an enema that was needed years ago. Thanks!

    Hey! Just responding to your request for specialty cases about 12K, LTT uses it to be able to pull closeup inserts from the A roll, and I have honestly done this but without the 12K (because $$). I like the style and I think it would be worth it to have those punch ins be high rez, LTT gets really good results with it. So there’s a specialty case for 12K, specifically for people who aren’t concerned with filming separate B roll. I of course film separate B roll all the time, but it would be nice to have that resolution when the “punched in TH-cam insert look” is what I want. Some might say “then it should be low rez for realism”, but that’s why I like the high rez, because it kind of does to the video what Peter McKinnon (and a few priors) did to vlogging; take a thing like that’s not supposed to look good and make it look good, and it makes it something new! Forcing low quality to look amazing is a type of art in some cases. I have a couple of times either reframed an A or B roll shot and gotten gold, literally by doing what you’re not supposed to do (which is the basis of many great innovations in filmmaking)
