    My wife and I have been going down to the region since early 2000. We have gone up and down from Playa to Puerto Mujeres. Started with all of the Palaces (Cancun, Moon, Sun), then Iberostar Grande, Excellence (3 times), Secrets, and have always made day trips to Isla. Now we have gone over two times and just stayed at PRIVILEGE ALUXES and are now heading back in Oct for a week. Soggy Peso, Bally Hoo , Tiny Gecko etc. Love it over there. Your videos keep us focused. LOL. Keep it up.

    1st time going to Isla Mujeres we were stuck in Memphis airport via a tornado. By the time we got to Cancun it was LATE.....got lucky to make the last ferry over. No more layover flights....nonstop only for us. So yes get an early flight to travel to Isla Mujeres.

    Great tips! You convinced us to try Isla Mujeres, will be staying at Secreto. You have become our defacto travel guides. Keep up the good work!
    Looking forward to your thoughts on Barbados.

    Awesome video Jen and Eric, wow what a wealth of information. And I agree about skipping the all-inclusives (although they cab be fun at times) but wow the best vacations we’ve had were while renting a place and finding cute restaurants to eat.

    We went for the first time in 2023 and stayed at Privileges Aluxes. It offers all inclusive, or not. We chose the all inclusive option, but when we go this year we have decided to not get it, because as they say on here, there are plenty of great places to eat, and quite frankly the food at Aluxes wasn't as good as the food elsewhere on the island. That said your normal room rate at Aluxes does include a breakfast buffet that was excellent, eggs to order etc,

    I really enjoy your informative videos! On one of your visits to Isla Mujeres, you mentioned that one particular spot didn't accept American credit cards. I wish you would have included whether or not American cash was accepted at that particular spot. I still don't understand if you save money by using pesos, compared to American dollars.

    • @SchmoopsAdventures
      @SchmoopsAdventures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You absolutely save money using pesos because the merchant will never give you a favorable exchange rate. You are correct, we should have expanded on that topic

    • @SchmoopsAdventures
      @SchmoopsAdventures  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mattyp2123 that depends hugely on your habits. Are you fancy foodies that drink a lot of do you spend all day at the beach drinking water and getting tacos for lunch? Think about what you would spend ona week off at home and convert to pesos. Personally we budget $200 usd a day and always have money left over

      @SchmoopsAdventures  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That really depends on how much you spend on the average Jennifer and I budget for $200 a day US and we convert it before we come. We always have a little leftover and we just save it for next time if you’re not drinking much and you’re planning on eating tacos and spending the day on the beach. You can spend a lot less money

      @@SchmoopsAdventures Must Visit Beaches (not in any particular order):
      Pigeon Point
      English Man’s Bay
      Cambleton Bay
      Pirate’s Bay (go to Charlottesville and take a short boat ride or walk the path thru the rainforest)
      Castara
      Store Bay (right next to the airport)
      Attractions:
      Charlottesville (quaint village/town)
      Buccoo Reef (snorkeling)
      Nylon Pool (snorkeling)
      Various tours of waterfalls, mountainous rainforests etc.
      There are many others of course but I’m not sure how much time you have.
      Since you guys are foodies, please realize that Trinidad and Tobago is famous worldwide for its very unique cuisine which is the byproduct of its diverse cultural history. The food is amazing.
      Must try dishes:
      Roti (I recommend the dhalphuri style shell filled with your choice of curried chicken, beef, goat, or shrimp)
      Doubles
      Bake and Shark
      Buljol
      Crab and dumplings
      Callalou
      Pelau
      Rum Punch!!!! (this one goes without say. It’s very different than what’s served in North America, and of course they’ll use good Trinidad rum, not Bacardi :) )
