    The voice of CKNX was Brian Elmslie. I grew up in the early '60's with only 2 Television Stations to watch, and CKNX was one of them!

    One of the only Canadian stations to say "And now, our national anthem".

      CBLT Channel 5 in Toronto also said that phrase in 1992

      I know at least a couple others introduced the anthem too, but a lot cut straight to their respective montages after saying goodnight. At least one or two Canadian stations had no sign-off / sign-on spiels at all.

    I love old-style stills used by TV stations for station IDs, "technical difficulty" cards, sign-ons, and sign-offs.They might have been simple photos of a landscape, or of the broadcast tower used, or just a logo with a bit of calligraphy, and perhaps even included a clock to start or end the day. (CHAT TV had a Bulova clock from a jeweler to mark 12:30 pm, along with a jingle for a local bakery, for some time in the late Seventies.)

    The movie that CKNX was playing on Triple terror feature theater for the night was: "Devil dog: The hounds of hell". Just for all of you who didn't know, it was a horror film and so forth.

    Probably "O Canada" still. It may not have been official until 1980 but it was the only national anthem I knew while growing up, and that was long before 1980.

    Good Day
    I grew up not too far from Wingham, & watched a lot of CKNX programs as a Boy.
    I also listened to CKNX FM (a little bit before the programming change over).
    They sent our family a questionnaire in ?1983? which I filled out. They changed formats after that & was a very regular listener.
    CKNX AM programming was sent to the transmitter through the Bell telephone lines back then.

    The ending of Triple Terror right before the sign-off and bars is thrice as scary.

    It was used for sign off of CBC British Columbia in 1980's and in Toronto in 1989 using the original national anthem O Canada

    From what I understand, CKNX ended its original broadcasting on Aug. 31/09 and not just rebroadcasts the CFPL signal. CKNX, RIP.

    Man... for 1981, that Devil Dog print (from 78) was already pretty worn out.
    It's quality adds to the creepiness though

    Brian Elmslie or Dave Curzon on the sign off voice over , I think the Triple Terror voice may be a young John Chippa, don't think it's Bryan Allen, may be Gary Ryan......anyone? anyone?

    • @ChristopherSobieniak
      @ChristopherSobieniak 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen this before. It's a piece of silver tape that was placed over where the "cue marks" would be on these film prints to indicate when a commercial break was to happen.

    • @ChristopherSobieniak
      @ChristopherSobieniak 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JasonDelarosa2000 This is a 16mm film print that is being projected from a special telecine projector at the TV station. the "tape" I mention appears black since it's opaque when projected via a light source. It was placed there by an editor when preparing the print to show live on TV. This was before video tape replaced this job.
