The Rani is a great villainess tbh. She isn't a downright wanting world domination like the master but simply to do whatever is necessary to achieve her goals.
    Bring her back!

Imagine if Peri said the Master. The Rani would be so offended. It would be hilarious.

That would be a funny if Missy was in it. Here is what I could see.
Peri: That means... No, you can't be.
Missy: So, you do know me after all, I knew you would. Spit it out girl I can see it on the tip of your tongue.
      Peri: The Rani!
      Missy: No, I'm the Master!!
      Peri: Wait what?
Missy: Yes, I'm the Master but you can call me Missy.

To be fair they were dead for 8 years, that made it a bit difficult to bring back too many survivors. The master worked, the rani might have too. But not that many.

@@coleturner9106 But why not? It’s very plausible that more than a couple survived the War. Blowing up one’s home planet would be a good excuse to be extinct for more primitive races like humans, but a race as powerful as the Time Lords, who, according to the Doctor, have had “absolute power” for over 10 million years? I don’t buy it.

Well, if you're looking for additional options - "Night Thoughts" was a nice and creepy story if you like mansion-horror. If you'd like to re-live the fun/comedic side of 7's earlier incarnation, "Bang-Bang-A-Boom" is a really fun and lively story trimmed with the campiness of Season 24 (TV). And of course one of his praised works being "Master" which I found quite gripping and would no doubt have plenty of up-loadable bits.
Pretty sure some (or at least Master and maybe others) can be listened to for free via Spotify. Definitely give Night Thoughts a try - I do love when Doctor Who goes to the horror-movie side of things, which is probably why creepy episodes like "Curse of Fenric" stick out in people's minds. Totally glorious episode for those who have watched all of 7's era and can catch-on to all the pre-episode references, moreso if you have the uncut special edition with the gorgeous musical re-score.
If you'd like a spoiler-less teaser, paste "We have black hearts" in search and click the Curse of Fenric title/thumb of the Reverend. I've yet to listen to the 7th audio where the Doctor once again takes on Fenric.

I hope the Rani comes back in the revival era of doctor who. I know the rights are a bit of a mess but now Russell T Davies is coming back to doctor who let's hope he gives the villainous time lady a new lease of life and introduce her to new audiences like he did with the master in utopia

I'm glad that the Doctor and the Master aren't the only Time Lords to have gone Scottish, I haven't listened to this particular story (I've only just started looking into 6th Doctor stories after years of reluctance, due to his era not exactly being a favourite of mine), but if this is any indication, Siobhan certainly seems like a worthy successor to Kate O'Mara as the Rani.

Wouldn't everything just come full circle if the Rani does appear in the current series at some point and has Regenerated into a man, to play off of how both the Doctor and the Master have become women in recent years. Personally I say she should be played by Benedict Cumberbatch, he's got the intimidation factor and intelligence factor to make the perfect male Rani.

    • @SorchaSublime

I disagree. Missy was way too flamboyant and obsessed with the Doctor to have ever been the Rani. The Rani is a scientist with no morals. She's not some criminal mastermind who wants to conquer the universe. She just wants to conduct her research and run her experiments, without the Doctor being able to interfere and ruin everything.
