    Thank you very much for this test .
    Oscilloscopes are great for their price and behavior is very good . You are the first to test the behavior of these oscilloscopes in the bandwidth

      Bogdan546, not a problem at all. I’m glad you asked for me to do the test. I love using & playing with my scopes. If you can think of any other test, or something you’d like to see me do with one of, or both of these scopes, just leave another comment describing what you’d like to see; and I’ll try and knock it out. Thanks again for stopping by my workshop. You are welcome anytime my friend.

    Hi Atom. Great test and told me a lot about advertised vs actual bandwidth capabilities. The point at which the amplitude of the signal degrades by -3db is the maximum bandwith rating for the scope. I noticed that the signal on the ATO began shrinking at 30 Mhz and the other scope held the pattern until 50 Mhz. I'd like to see if the same holds true if you used one output channel on the signal generator and the same BNC cable with channel number one on both scopes. That should remove all variables except the scope itself. Switching the connector between each scope should give the purest test. Can the db drop be measured?

    • @atomsworkshop195
      @atomsworkshop195  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Vash, how are you? Thank you for the comment. So how do I measure the dB? I guess I’ll google it and try and find out. So are you saying it’s no good? There I am thinking it’s good because it wasn’t bouncing around. I see what you are talking about, about the amplitude drop. However, I just tested it (ATO) to see what you were saying, and it didn’t shrink until 40MHz. Infact, it goes up to 5.28v pk-pk at 30MHz (from 5.12v pk-pk). Once I’m at 60MHz it’s switches between 4.12v pk-pk & 4.20v pk-pk. So that would be a difference of .92v & 1v. I’ll have to look at the specs to see if that’s what within the allowable range that they list. I can’t grab the STO at the moment. It’s in my gun safe in the bedroom, and I don’t want to wake my wife up getting it out of there; we have to be up in about 5 hrs. I have to get some sleep, but I’ll try to do what you asked tomorrow. About using the same cable and channel one on both scopes. I’ll reed your comment again right before the test to make sure I get it right. I’m pretty tired at the moment. Already dozed off while typing this, lol. Thanks again Vash

      @@atomsworkshop195 What Vash said is correct the Bandwith of a scope is the frequency where the signal has dropped -3db (at about 70%) but you can only check that with good cabling and a good signalgenerator that is able to generate a uniform level over its whole range.

    Should use 50 Ohm terminators at the oscilloscope input to prevent reflections down the bnc to bnc cables; 'scopes expect to see a normal probe on the input.

      Hello evo evo, thanks for stopping by the channel. Unfortunately, there are no car/automotive presets on the STO. I suggested it to Micsig, but they said, at this time they have no plans to do so, and that the ATO is their automotive scope. I really wish they would give us the option to add the automotive presets to the STO. I’ve talked to quite a few people that feel the same way, and think that would be a great idea. That would be one awesome scope, if you combined the ATO & STO. Maybe if enough people suggest it to Micsig, they’ll come around and make it happen. Thanks again for the reply & for visiting my channel. You’re always welcomed here.

    Nice vids .seeing how the sensor test are programmed into the ato1104 can u test multiple sensors at the same time

    • @atomsworkshop195
      @atomsworkshop195  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello qik65, thanks for that. Yes, you can test one on each channel. So for the ATO1104, you can test 4 different sensors at once. So, say you were looking at a 350z, you could look at bank 1 cmp sensor on channel 1, bank 2 cmp sensor on channel 2, the ckp sensor on channel 3, and say an ignition signal on channel 4. Thanks for stopping by the channel.

    Hey Adam hope all is well.
    Question: when you do a quick save of a capture does the sto1104c have a way to bring that capture back up in oscilloscope mode in order to make edits?
    It seems to save them as pictures. But under "REF" it says "open in oscilloscope" when I click on it but thus far I haven't been able to find a way to do that.

      Then you can go to files, then Ref, pick one, click rename, and label it. Unfortunately the amount of text you can put in is really limited. At least on the ATO1104. I feel like you can put a little more in on the STO, but I can’t remember for sure; and I don’t have my STO1104 with me at the moment.

    • @atomsworkshop195
      @atomsworkshop195  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, when you connect it to a computer, you can open everything under files except Reference waveforms (quick save). I contacted Micsig, and unfortunately that’s just how it is.

      Hello Anton. Wow, Belarus and Russia, that’s great. I think it’s pretty cool being able to talk with people from other countries. I’m in the United States. Anyway, about your question. First I bought the ATO for automotive diagnostics. Then I noticed the STO with the knobs and buttons, and thought that would be better, for when I’m wearing gloves and what not, so I got it. However, because of the automotive presets and options to choose which amp clamp I’m using, and a few other features, I ended up going back to the ATO for diagnosing vehicles. I ended up setting my STO up inside on my electronics table for everything else (other than automotive).
      So basically, if you are going to be using it to diagnose automobiles I would go with the ATO. Of course, you can also use the ATO for other electronics diagnostics or tinkering. I hope this helps you. I recommended to MicSig, to have an option to get the ATO with the knobs and buttons, but, at least, at this time, they have no plans to do so. They told me the ATO is their automotive scope. Maybe that will change in the future, who knows. Good luck my friend.

    For a long time there is no video from you, how are you?)
    Since the purchase of STO, have you received at least some firmware update?

      Hello Vladimir. I’m ok, thank you for asking. I’ve just been real busy with moving, which kept getting delayed. All the while my electronics are in boxes. We Finally moved a few days ago, but I still haven’t had a chance to set up my lab. As for the firmware update; I don’t believe I have seen one for the STO, since I got it. However, I haven’t tried in about a month. The ATO has had one since I got it. I hope to start making videos again soon. I’ve just been so busy lately. It’s nice to hear from you. I hope you’re doing well.
