UK Coarse Fishing Making a Hand-Carved Float from a Single Piece of Driftwood

Here I hand carve a small chubber-style fishing float from a piece of driftwood I found on my local beach. Towards the end of the video you can also see some other floats I made, where the body is hand-carved from driftwood and using a bamboo skewer as a stem. If I dare, the intention is to use these floats for various coarse fish, trout, and grayling in local rivers. I like to think that the piece of driftwood I found on the beach came from one of the rivers that I'll fish it in!

Excellent job. Please can I ask what varnish you used?

Thanks a lot. Sorry, but I honestly cannot recall what varnished I used. It may have been multiple coats of a single mix rod whipping varnish (i.e. the type where you don't need to pre mix two parts). I think some people use clear yacht varnish.

@@anglersbureau thanks for the reply, I like to make the odd float from time to time but always struggle to know what varnish to use. Lovely floats mine are not in the same league. ATB.
