Love these signings; especially DeBrusk (his numbers were down last season because he had an injured hand most of the season). If people thought this team wasn't fun to play against last season, they just got a bit more physically punishing. Quinn Hughes should be the happiest guy about the Sherwood signing, after the way he went after him while playing for Nashville. Zadorov was a perfect fit in Vancouver last season and should work out well in Boston, but that's a contract I can see a lot of regret for on a 4-5 spot defenceman. I like the deals for Heinen and Forbort to beef up the penalty kill with depth signings, instead of just a bunch of guys. They even got some extra depth feistiness out of signing Desharnais from Edmonton.
@@jbainbridge22 You don't know shit apparently. We have 4 all stars on our team and he can easily upgrade to a 30 goal scorer this year on Pettersson wing.
I like our big heavy defence. Quinn and Hronek got physically dominated by the oilers forwards. I think Quinn learned he has to do something different. Using his and Hronek skating ability just wasn’t enough. This is probably why Izerman traded him
Matt, how about the NHL bring in a Decreasing Term Limit Rule? As a player ages after 30 the length of their long term contract starts to decrease by a year. 31yr old/7 yrs. 32yr old/6yrs. 33yr old/5yrs. 34yr old/4yrs(Tanev) This would solve your concerns about cap circumvention. The players that are healthy and still able to play after those contracts expire would still be able to sign short term contracts if their team still wanted them to stay.
Raty on the wing with Petey may be worth a try along with Debrusk. The kid got the smarts and wicked wrist shot to play with these guys. Lekkerimaki will be ready in a year's time unless he lights up rhe AHL.
I’m going give this free agency a B for the Canucks. I like how the we got deeper and better in the forward group. Don’t love the debrusk deal he is a top 6 forward but not the one we needed. Don’t love how we resign Myers over zadorov. Myers in the top 4 is not it. Canucks need another top 4 defencemen Myers is better suited as your 5-6
@christhornycroft3686 Not really, but I also want to see what a Garland, Petterson, DeBrusk line or a Garland, Miller, Boeser line looks like. If Garland fits well into a top six role and Heinen fits well as a third liner, it might work out better. I guess we will find out.
They needed a game changer and got a mid 6 player this was a huge fail. People changing their script before saying we need a difference maker then this happens and it flips to this was the right deal all along total bs by lots of fans out here.
The hardest working sports journalists in the city! Working on a stat holiday. Respect.

DeBrusk is also a hometown kid. He grew up in North Van
Also is average and inconsistent.
@@jbainbridge22 He played on a team that had zero all stars except for Brad Marchand...if you can even call that an all star.

@@jbainbridge22 Debrusk had 5 goals and 6 assists in 13 playoff games. He shows up and you don't.
Desharnais best signing today by far
Poppa Louie and Tochet are really tight go watch the after hours show.
They were chopping it up.
Tocchet will turn Jake into an elite power forward.
Blake DeBrusk, Jake & Blake. Rhymes with shake and bake. Nice.

Sherwood has a very good faceoff percentage as well 👍

Don't underestimate Vinny been watching him all the way back to Chilliwack Chiefs late bloomer he will do well in Van
Matt , I think that you too often interrupt when Blake is speaking .
they didnt have demko or Boeser at the end of the season

No more losing culture = Lord Stanley's cup or bust
What about Conor Garland moving up into a line one or two spot? The guy is capable.
Do you really want to break up that 3rd line after bringing back Blueger and Joshua?

AFP had De Brusk at $5.8 x 5yrs
mediocrity
Worse
