Just by not overpaying and overextending any new contracts, the Canucks won. Everyone thinks that by signing someone for $9M per year gets you a $9M player. That rarely works out. Just getting rid of Mikheyev made the team better.
Rick already won the Pacific with about four or five AHL-calibre players on the Canucks depth chart. Obviously, management got who they got because they think that they'll do well under Rick's system. We just have to trust the process and let these guys cook.

People react as if FA and resigning guys works like it does in NHL video games. People will complain and say why didnt they sign this guy who is better than the guy we signed and that we shouldve signed player x or z. Yet those people never stop to think "Maybe player x or z didnt want to sign in Vancouver". Tavares was apparently offered more money to stay with NYI than what he ended up signing for with Toronto. You can put out the highest dollar offer to a FA, but that doesnt mean he will sign, real life isnt like NHL 24. Perhaps Lindholm simply didnt want to be the #3 center in Vancouver when he could be the #1 center in Boston and still make just as much money. Maybe Marchessault didnt want to play in Vancouver, maybe Geuntzel wanted more money to play in Vancouver than what he signed for in Tampa. We dont know what discussions were had between management and players and their agents. For all we know the Canucks may have tried signing some of the prettier FA"s available but their agents just might have said "My client is interested in playing for your team.". Then there is nothing that can be done. Not every FA is willing to sign for your team, just because a guy is a FA doesnt mean you have a chance to sign him. Some guys simply wont come and play for you no matter what you offer or what you say. DeBrusk may have been the only top 6 winger willing to sign a reasonable deal to play in Vancouver. All things considered, I am quite pleased. Lindholm was good, but he wasnt better than Miller or Petey. paying nearly 8 million for a guy to center your third line is a bad deal, and its clear he wasnt working as a winger. I think the Canucks badly needed more depth on the wing, not center and DeBrusk fills that need. Zadorov was the one that really hurts, he ended being impactful on this team. However, I remember a lot of fans hating the Zadorov trade, claiming he was a bottom pair guy that we overpaid for, a chaos giraffe 2.0. That persisted throughout the season as fans would call him a liability everytime he took a penalty for a bad hit, or took himself out of position. The playoffs is where he really ingratiated himself to the fans, and maybe it was just lightning in a bottle. I liked the guys attitude, his energy and pushback, though its not as if he was a major factor in our success during the season, remember, we were at the top of the league before we acquired him and we can do so again. We also took Edmonton (a cup finalist), to game 7 without our Vezina nominated goalie. The Canucks have a good team, we have two centers that have recently had 100 point seasons, we have the Norris trophy winning defenseman, a vezina nominee goalie and the Jack Adams winning coach. The canucks have improved at wing, slightly downgraded at center, and have stayed relatively the same on defense. Time will tell if sacrificing center depth to improve depth on the wing is the right call and if going for depth on defense rather than stacking the top 3 guys is the better choice. I think the Canucks did well, and I believe DeBrusk will improve in Vancouver with more opportunity, a new system, and quality guys like Miller, Petey, and Hughes to play with. We needed to stay competitive in the FA market and not be the only team not making moves. We will ice a competitive team that could be better or worse than last season and hopefully its the former. Go Canucks Go!!!
I'm going to say it since EVERYONE seems to be forgetting it: Ian Cole was LIGHTS OUT GOOD vs the Predators. He was going play for play with Myers on fishing pucks off the goal line that were heading into the net for goals against. Yes ye stunk vs the Oilers, especially early in the series, though he did improve in the last half of the series. He had 3 bad games in the playoffs, 3 mediocre games and 7 great games, but all people want to remember are the 3 bad ones. Yes he was bad in those 3 games, but let's not forget the good he did before that. As to the change of personnel, I like the new guys coming in. Desharnais ticks the same boxes for potential physicality that Zadorov ticks, but he's younger and has more potential to improve with the right coaching and comes at a fraction of the AAV hit AND he didn't reject our offer only to sign an almost identical offer somewhere else after paying all that lip service to wanting to stay here. As for Forbort, he's a couple of years younger then Ian Cole, a bit bigger, and plays a very similar style to Ian from what I can tell, but a bit more physical.
Younger player in DeBrusk, didnt overpay too many additions, and with what the training staff was able to do with certain players last season gives me some optimism that this could still be a competitive team. That being said, thet could pull off something really impactful at the next trade deadline to help us address more issues, but I'm willing to give this group a chance.
If Lekkerimaki and Pettersson aren't ready to crack this roster by March, we could very well see them put on the table come next Trade Deadline. When you look at the logistics of all the big deals and how only four big contracts are expiring within the next 6 years, this team could very well be all-in this year if they look good right out of the gates.
@@Uncle_Troy This team's financially set up for long term success with no big anchor contracts tying up too much money in marginal players. The only big contracts we have are for our top producing players now. Only the Conner Garland contract seems a bit steep, but given the development arc his career is on, and the insane chemistry he and Joshua gave with each other, Garland's contract doesn't look so bad. It'll look even better if he and Dak can crack the top 6 as Pettey's wingers next season and play like a top six line pairing. And if any centre can get those 2 producing like they belong in the top 6, it's EP40. Heck, if he could actually manage to get goals out of Mikheyev while he was still healthy, and only stopped being able to carry Ilya on his back when his knee blew out, he can get anybody scoring. And Garland's a legit playmaker and Jushua's got the size and soft hands to be a legit net front presence and the hockey sense to be a back door threat, giving his line mates options.
The Canucks are a deeper more balanced team. They also have a full season to get up to the right gear for the playoffs, unlike our team, with in season trades. Plus we now have room for future additions
People also have to add Hronek, Myers, Blueger and Joshua to this list. They could have lost them and they didn't so that's a win. This team has more depth and options now.
Fans....for the most part are just whining because the players THEY WANTED didn't get signed. Half of the morons wanted Stamkos at 9mAAV as well as Dumba plus their own favourites. The Canucks got faster AND better. PERIOD.
This. They wanted the best player on the market and because they didn't get them, anything is a downgrade. I think we are a bit worse than our playoff team (depending on how Debrusk and Vinny perform in our structure... if they do decent to well, we are better), but we are undoubtedly better than the team we started the season with... the team that played the hottest section of our season last year.
LW was a weak spot on the team and they improved it. Zadorov didn't contribute much offensively in the regular season, so I think they are slightly better off with the new players.
I liked Debrusk and wish the Bruins resigned him. But he is streaky and gets hurt almost every year. He does show up in the playoffs, especially against the Leafs.
I look at it this way. The actual top end talent was downgraded imo. Losing Zadorov and Lindholm. Hurts. Essentially the on paper replacements there are Desharnais(the hulking Dman) and Debrusk(the top 6 forward.) In actuality, we got 2 guys for the top 6 in the afformentioned Debrusk, as well as Danton Heinen who will definitely see some minutes with Boeser and Miller and maybe form a much improved top 6 from last year with Petey running a line with Debrusk and Hogs. Petey gets some stability with 40-50 goals(maybe more) on his wings as well as BOTH the wingers having a motor and tough to play against. The 3rd line stays Blueger, Dak, Garzy as arguably the best 3rd line in the league(edmontons 3rd projected looks really good on paper now too) 4th line of Suter at C, likely Sherwood and with a rotating cast of whoever is either A playing good, or B healthy including the likes of Podz, PDG, Åman, lekkerimaki, bains etc. With this look at it, the overall forward core in theory is much stronger than it was with Lafferty, Mikheyev and Lindholm etc gone. I think overall, the Defense made a lateral move, with the subtractions and additions when comparing the top end of it, as well as the middle. Zadorov is better than anyone we brought in, but the totality of what we brought in, I think is around what went out. We now have the reigning Norris winner who is going to have another year of experience as well as the trophy on his resume. He WILL be better this year too. I think goaltending, once Silovs is signed to paper, should be better at the NHL level for sure. I don’t need to get too deep into it, but we all know he was lights out this year in the playoffs. I think you lessen Demmers workload to 50-55 games max, and you give Silovs the rest of the starts 27-32 games. Demko gets rest throughout the season to hopefully stay healthy without too much pressure to be a workhorse because he KNOWS he has a potential stud to literally back him up. Silovs gets a good amount of actual experience so he doesn’t get stale by riding the pine, and it’s better completion than the AHL players he would face, albeit, more regularly.(plus he essentially triples his NHL career starts in a single season, which is big for his development) Overall, in theory, on paper, and hopefully in practice(no pun intended) I think the Canucks are a better team going into this season, than they were after game 7 of round 2 against Edmonton. We shall see.
Team is more balanced and fits better now than it did. Better top 6 with debrusk. Much better bottom 6 with Sherwood and heinen additions. Will be intresting who is with miller and boeser. Whether it’s suter or heinen or maybe someone like pods somehow jumps up. The defense may be a bit worse but I think adding the forwards balances things out I do think the team is better than last season overall
I think they are about the small if not marginally better. But where they won is contract management giving us options to make moves in the future rather then being sink or swim on one contract.
The forward group 100% got better in my opinion and the d core 3rd pairing got slightly worse. Who knows the 3rd pairing might do well under the Canucks system.
the 3rd line on D also got younger. Cole was 34, Forbort is 32. Zadorov was 29, Desharnais is 28. So Forbort's still earlier on his decline arc and Desharnais still has some room for improvement, especially with the right coaching to bring out his true potential.
Forward group improved. The defense got worse. Overall, the team improved by not locking up a middle 6 center for 7.75m and a solid number 5 dman for 5m. Team still lacks a top 6 RW and a puck mover in the bottom 4.
Noticeably improved offense across the board, obviously got Forbort and Desharnais to improve the PK, got Mikheyev off of the payroll with little consequence, and kept every UFA who was willing to stay for a good price. Defense is a bit worse overall, but you have to feel convinced that the Canucks can roll out four forward lines capable of scoring now after this overhaul to the roster. I think that the Canucks would have been feared a lot more around the NHL this year if only their special teams were a lot better, and these moves prove that the front office felt the same way.
Lucky if they stayed the same or close. Forgetting about the other players already on the team? If the chemistry works there should be plenty to celebtate next year
Whether they're better or worse remains to be seen in October. For me the real question is, did they do all they could to avoid a collapse? I argue, yes. Without question. There wasn't much more they could have done. Some wanted Zadorov and others wanted the big fish Guentzel, but in both cases, you're throwing a lot of money at one guy, and becoming the Leafs of the West - at best. What Allvin did was make the Canucks a team no one in the entire league is going to want to play against with or without a lot of painkillers and ice on hand and a team that should be incredibly deep. Adding Heinen was probably the most important piece. He's an 18 goal scorer (several times) who plays a bottom 6 role. Teams will have a horrible time trying to decide which line they want to match their top shutdown unit against and whoever they leave to their 4th line is going to get destroyed. Yes, they could have used another top 4 defenseman, but like it or not, there's a salary cap. Pettersson at his age was going to get paid and there was nothing they could have done about that. They got Louie DeBrusk's kid to play with Pettersson and that sounds great to me. Again, Allvin since taking over has said he wanted to build a team that would be an absolute nightmare to play against, and overall, I think they're scarier than they were last year. They might not have the flash of Zadorov, but I'd rather deal with last year's team than this one. This Canucks team looks like they want to hurt you.
Well, Canucks came out better salary wise - $13.5 mill vs 22.88 mill and in term 16 yrs vs 21 yrs so we won that part. Did we win in better quality players? Initially no, however getting the new Canucks into our system and our coaching may propel them toward career years, like so many had last year. DeBrusk could develop like JT Miller or going further back, Todd Bertuzzi, he could become a top power forward. That's entirely possible. Same for the rest of these guys. Well done, Allvin.
I like Lindholm. He was one of our best playoff performers to be sure. But his regular season stats have been dropping since the 2021-2022 seaspm. His cap hit will be 7.75 million for 7 years. Ouch. dont think he's going to live up to that contract. He will get more opportunities in Boston but I don't think that contract will age well. Debrusk on the other hand is 27 and can still improve playing with an elite centerman. He also shows up in the playoffs and certainly can easily be worth the 5.5 aav for 7. We have way more of his prime years than Boston has with Lindholm
Offence got a little better, defence got a little worse. However I think that Forbert and Desharnais will improve under the tutelage of Tocchet and Foote, just like Myers was able to do
What about trying out Joshua with JT and Brock?! Joshua Miller Boesser DeBrusk Petterson Garland Heinen Blueger Sherwood Podkolzin Suter Hoglander Di Giuseppe Aman Karlsson Baines Hughes Hronek Soucy Myers Forbort Juulsen Friedman Desharnais McWard Poolman (is he out all season?) Demko Silovs Patera
I feel we need to add a cheap veteran to complete our lineups. Our RW especially is lacking. Last year we waited too long to ask Phil Kessel to train up, so he never had time to get fit enough. So even if the plan is to sign them near the trade deadline, we need to reach out to them now. A few we can probably sign for league minimum are: Blake Wheeler (my preference) James Van Riemsdyk Max Pacioretty There is of course also Joe Pavelski. But he will ask for more than league minimum, and he will probably stay in Dallas. And he is 39. He said he will probably retire.
The Canucks aren’t better than they ended the playoffs, but they’re better than they were at the start of last season, and that’s what matters since we all knew lindholm was probably a rental
Offence is better! defense is par because we have room to move things still. Goaltending is a downgrade between peterka and, DeSmith but, am upgrade running Silovs as 1B
There are a few variables too. If Foote and Tocchet can extract more from Desharnais, then he may be a pleasant surprise at 2 mil instead of 5 for a bottom pair d man. Plus Sherwood will be a sneaky good signing and a fan favourite.
heinen and sherwood are improvements over mikheyev and lafferty and come in at a better cap hit. lindholm knew where he was going to be signing long term and basically mailed it in as a canuck. didn't tank, just didn't put much into his effort on most nights. if petie is 'all better' this year coming up and debrusk and him get each other imo he will be a productive asset at a much lower cap hit. i like the moves on D. maybe not the fastest but they will punish opponents. ruthervin did great.
It depends. Do you have regular season Lindholm and Zadorov or playoff Lindholm and Zadorov? Do you have last year's contracts or this year's contracts? I'll miss Casey DeSmith and Sam Lafferty, but I'm glad we are not paying the rest what they are getting this season. If Jake DeBrusk gels with Pettersson, then that contract was a steal. Desharnais is a little overpaid, but if Tocchet get his size to work within our system, then I'm okay with the deal. They rest of the signings look good, as long as they play as well last year as they did this year. Additionally, they finished in sixth place in the league last year. They don't need to get a lot better to compete for the Stanley Cup. On the downside, in the Pacific, there are only two teams that have a real shot at first place, Vancouver and Edmonton, and Edmonton got better.
Losing Zadorov imo hurts a lot. But getting a winger in DeBrusk to play with Petey is a positive. Our team right now is not as good as the playoff team we had. But our team right now is better than the team we had last year to start the season. The management is not done yet working with this roster. And we know management will make news if necessary.
There better forward wise. But the defence is something to see later on. Just worried if the bottom 4 can pass the Puck out there zone. Great depth. Glad they didn't get stuck with 7×7.75 or paying 5 mill for a 3rd pairing. Like desharnais big and tough.
I'm happy with the signings, they are more logical than past management. What interests me the most is what frame of mind Elian P. will come back with in the new season? I have a lot of respect for the Canucks coaching staff for expecting and training the players into the best team they can be!
They are a better team, if only by a little bit. They still have cap space to sign another decent defenseman if need be. Honestly I think they should. Forbort may be a tiny bit better than Ian Cole, and I hope he doesn't wear down before the playoffs like Cole did, even with a few days off.
When watching your channel for a few months now. Still can tell what you're saying at the end...... something 99 but I dont hear legorocks. What are you/is he saying???
I was not a fan of Lindholm and thought trade was brutal. One of the few bad ones Allvin made. Loved Z but happy we didn’t overpay. Happy for DeBrusk and Sherwood eapecially
Lindholm didnt do much on the scoresheet, given his abilities and then contract. Miscast down the lineup? Expensive. We'll miss Z though. That stings. They improved depth and rounded out the lineup, saving cap. DeBrusk is a great pickup. Hopefully it translates to plaoff success as the point totals should be close in the standings.
forward group is all round better imo but hour d is worse however we still got roughly 3m in cap space we could spend when ltir hits so a trade could happen down the road for a d if we need or a topforward or both again
Because alvin didn’t think he was worth 6m a year on the back end of his career. He’s right, we have a 4-6 year window depending on how salary works out and finding a replacement for Miller.
We are not better not worse.... with that said definitely better than the beginning of last season. Remember we had to trade to get most if the players we lost. We have a whole season to improve for the playoffs
I don’t think they’ll have a better season as I think they over achieved last year. Hey! As long as they make the playoffs who knows. Gonna miss Zadorov though.
They will make one of those new defencemen formidable, my bet is on desharnais. Not a lot of NHL time, big RHD d man that was good in the PK. They literally fixed myers in a year and turned zadorov into a super star in half a season. Let’s not act like zadorov was anything like he was in the play offs before. Big Z had swagger and made hits, that’s replaceable.
Bit early to say but our forward core is definitely deeper and alvin seemed to hand pick these players who look like toccet style players Our Dcore I think remained the same. Losing zadorov sucks but not having ian cole is a positive. But have to see how the new dman play
It's apples and oranges. last year's team was a proven product - despite the duds that we had. This new crew isn't. If the new group buys in and performs well to the standards of Tochet on up management like last year's team did - they should have a chance to win every game. If the players click with each other differently/more effectively than say the merry-go-round Pettersson faced - they should do well. If Demko isn't a powder puff and doesn't break like fine china like forever - they should do well. I agree with people who mentioned that we didn't give long contracts at 6-7-8-9-10 million just because. Which is a great departure. I think Allvin has done admirably with the lemons he had to put on the ice. And our farm team has been replenished and developed tremendously despite the cabinets being bare for so long. We have gone from NHL kryptonite the past many years where players didn't want to be in Van - to a contender that players are willing to come to because of management, coaches, and players. If the team continues to find a culture similar to what happened with the team in the mid-2000s and 2000 teens where the kids of players grow up together, the wives click together, and the players are all about the man in the foxhole beside you - then they will be a team of greatness. And maybe they will convince Aquillini to invest in a world-class practice facility that will convince more UFAs and other players to enjoy the incessant rain in Vancouver for 10 out of 12 months of the year.
I think the Debrusk signing is great! The loss of Big Z will hurt Forbert and Dehaulier are not that good. Just big Heinen and Blueger are Vanilla hockey players Sherwood will bring our 4th line some serious energy!
Watched your video, I am on the side that the Canucks are clearly not better, and although your video makes some valid points you are missing a lot in the gone column. 1st Round Pick 3rd Round Pick 2x 3rd Round Prospects 4th Round Pick 5th Round Pick And Andre Kuzmenko Say no more
Debruk is most definitely a top 6 guys, even if it’s just number 6. He’s gunna crack 30 goals with pettey if they jive. Lindholm didn’t fit and losing him makes the team fit better, he was a 3rd Lin center on a 3rd line that was already rolling without him. Zadorov wasn’t all that great if you exclude recency bias and look objectively, I mean he hit people and smiled with swagger, that’s replaceable.
we dont know how debrusk will pan out, lindholm was not the right partner for petey. debrusk is similar to miller but full on LW. same situation as miller when he got traded to vancouver. i can easily see him 70+ pt guy if he pans out with petey being himself. thats the real factor here. i wouldve preferred matt roy or brett pecse for hughes so hronek can carry offensive for the more defensive minded soucy.
@@jaymewillett1675 how is five million per for Zadorov overpaying? Allvin just paid two plugs the same amount and the Canucks are in the same predicament again in two years from now. Keep adding plugs and let the players with intangibles go. Zadorov could skate and move the puck. I can't say the same about the players he just added.
Not sure how we got worse lol. Lindy did nothing for us till the playoffs. Soo we aren’t losing much there. We just got a guy that’s 27 year old for 5.5 and has the biggest up side and just came for a 11 points in the playoffs in 13 game. Yes I believe are d isn’t the greatest right now. We just got a guy that can kill are pk and that’s a beast at it, and only for 1.5 or something lol. Soo out of all this we just lost big z lol. Don’t think big z will win us a cup. Depth can tho
I don’t know if they got better … they were already a team that could have beat anyone but had to play without their starting goalie. Defense looks weaker but forwards look deeper, although small.

He does but let’s face it that fan base is gonna hate him through out the season
Wouldve rather kept Zadorov than Myers tbh.. i think most people forget the majority of time myers has been on the canucks he's been horrible.
PERIOD.
thanks for calling me an idiot. really pearced my feelings
Debrusk had matching points with Lindholm last season including the post season. We need goals and we got them at a cheaper price
I liked Debrusk and wish the Bruins resigned him. But he is streaky and gets hurt almost every year. He does show up in the playoffs, especially against the Leafs.
During the season the fans are gonna hate debrusk. But he shows up in the playoffs so hopefully that’s enough for the fans
@@mike8099m knowing us in Vancouver we will not like that
I look at it this way. The actual top end talent was downgraded imo. Losing Zadorov and Lindholm. Hurts. Essentially the on paper replacements there are Desharnais(the hulking Dman) and Debrusk(the top 6 forward.)
In actuality, we got 2 guys for the top 6 in the afformentioned Debrusk, as well as Danton Heinen who will definitely see some minutes with Boeser and Miller and maybe form a much improved top 6 from last year with Petey running a line with Debrusk and Hogs. Petey gets some stability with 40-50 goals(maybe more) on his wings as well as BOTH the wingers having a motor and tough to play against.
The 3rd line stays Blueger, Dak, Garzy as arguably the best 3rd line in the league(edmontons 3rd projected looks really good on paper now too)
4th line of Suter at C, likely Sherwood and with a rotating cast of whoever is either A playing good, or B healthy including the likes of Podz, PDG, Åman, lekkerimaki, bains etc.
Silovs gets a good amount of actual experience so he doesn’t get stale by riding the pine, and it’s better completion than the AHL players he would face, albeit, more regularly.(plus he essentially triples his NHL career starts in a single season, which is big for his development)
Overall, in theory, on paper, and hopefully in practice(no pun intended) I think the Canucks are a better team going into this season, than they were after game 7 of round 2 against Edmonton.
We shall see.
I actually think Steve Dangle said it right when he basically said that the team is building a team around Rick Tocchet
Smart.
the 3rd line on D also got younger.
Overall improvement of toughness 😊, no passengers with the new guys. Upgrades for sure❤ cheers
Zedorof leaving sucked, everyone else really didn't bother me. I'd of far better have parted ways with the disaster giraffe than big Z.
More balance in the forward lines , harder to play against. Defenceman , trust in Foot and Gonchar
Canucks coaching staff has proved that they can bring players to the next level. Should be another bomb season to say the least!
I believe in the coaching in the Vancouver system . They'll get the max out of these signings .
Offence got a little better, defence got a little worse. However I think that Forbert and Desharnais will improve under the tutelage of Tocchet and Foote, just like Myers was able to do
Oilers added scoring and d man ..
What about trying out Joshua with JT and Brock?!
Joshua Miller Boesser
DeBrusk Petterson Garland
Heinen Blueger Sherwood
Podkolzin Suter Hoglander
Di Giuseppe Aman Karlsson
Baines
Hughes Hronek
Soucy Myers
Forbort Juulsen
Friedman Desharnais
McWard Poolman (is he out all season?)
Demko
Silovs
Patera
I feel we need to add a cheap veteran to complete our lineups. Our RW especially is lacking. Last year we waited too long to ask Phil Kessel to train up, so he never had time to get fit enough. So even if the plan is to sign them near the trade deadline, we need to reach out to them now.
A few we can probably sign for league minimum are:
Blake Wheeler (my preference)
James Van Riemsdyk
Max Pacioretty
There is of course also Joe Pavelski. But he will ask for more than league minimum, and he will probably stay in Dallas. And he is 39. He said he will probably retire.
The Canucks aren’t better than they ended the playoffs, but they’re better than they were at the start of last season, and that’s what matters since we all knew lindholm was probably a rental
Look at all the playoff experience they just got this team is definitly better
All the analytics say we’re better defensively and on PK so I’ll take it! Debrusk especially is a great shutdown winger!
Your take is spot on with my analysis
There better forward wise. But the defence is something to see later on. Just worried if the bottom 4 can pass the Puck out there zone. Great depth. Glad they didn't get stuck with 7×7.75 or paying 5 mill for a 3rd pairing. Like desharnais big and tough.
Mikheyev or Debrusk, hmm. Anyone who thinks Allvin did not improve the roster I'm glad he's the GM and not you.
Thank God there are people with BRAINS who cheer the Canucks beside me. I was beginning to worry. Smart comment.
So True😊
Forwards group got better and makes more sense now. The Dcore definitely suffered with the loss of Zadorov!
I'm happy with the signings, they are more logical than past management. What interests me the most is what frame of mind Elian P. will come back with in the new season? I have a lot of respect for the Canucks coaching staff for expecting and training the players into the best team they can be!
This is good. Keep contracts reasonable & make additions before the trade deadline.
Slightly worse but we would have to wait until opening game to determine.
canucks are so good either way
Lindholm didnt do much on the scoresheet, given his abilities and then contract. Miscast down the lineup? Expensive. We'll miss Z though. That stings. They improved depth and rounded out the lineup, saving cap. DeBrusk is a great pickup. Hopefully it translates to plaoff success as the point totals should be close in the standings.
Who’s backing up Demko ?
forward group is all round better imo but hour d is worse however we still got roughly 3m in cap space we could spend when ltir hits so a trade could happen down the road for a d if we need or a topforward or both again
zadorov gone because of crazy high taxes playing here.
I’m think fans will change they’re opinion come April
Oilers outclassed ur entire free agency buddy ur team sucks
Obviously playoff roster much better
I don’t think they’ll have a better season as I think they over achieved last year. Hey! As long as they make the playoffs who knows. Gonna miss Zadorov though.
They will make one of those new defencemen formidable, my bet is on desharnais. Not a lot of NHL time, big RHD d man that was good in the PK. They literally fixed myers in a year and turned zadorov into a super star in half a season. Let’s not act like zadorov was anything like he was in the play offs before. Big Z had swagger and made hits, that’s replaceable.
Nice lacrosse goal !
Bit early to say but our forward core is definitely deeper and alvin seemed to hand pick these players who look like toccet style players
Our Dcore I think remained the same. Losing zadorov sucks but not having ian cole is a positive. But have to see how the new dman play
Good comment. Smart.
We aint done yet cowboy😊
Definitely not better
And considering all the assets they traded for Lindholm and Zadorov
Certainly not good asset management
I think the Debrusk signing is great!
The loss of Big Z will hurt
Forbert and Dehaulier are not that good. Just big
Heinen and Blueger are Vanilla hockey players
Sherwood will bring our 4th line some serious energy!
Watched your video, I am on the side that the Canucks are clearly not better, and although your video makes some valid points you are missing a lot in the gone column.
1st Round Pick
3rd Round Pick
2x 3rd Round Prospects
4th Round Pick
5th Round Pick
And Andre Kuzmenko
Say no more
DeBrusk was a great addition. But the rest 🤦🏻♂️
Yeah its an improvement
Still no top 6 signings. They’re ostensibly worse without Lindholm & Zed.
No, they really didnt. Debrusk and Desharnais for Lindholm and Zadorov doesnt make you better. Heinen is not a needle mover
Except they didn’t have to overpay for a third paring defensemen and a inconsistent player we had playing third line center lmao
we dont know how debrusk will pan out, lindholm was not the right partner for petey. debrusk is similar to miller but full on LW. same situation as miller when he got traded to vancouver. i can easily see him 70+ pt guy if he pans out with petey being himself. thats the real factor here.
i wouldve preferred matt roy or brett pecse for hughes so hronek can carry offensive for the more defensive minded soucy.
@@jaymewillett1675 The question was did they improve. No, they got worse,
Not sure how we got worse lol. Lindy did nothing for us till the playoffs. Soo we aren’t losing much there. We just got a guy that’s 27 year old for 5.5 and has the biggest up side and just came for a 11 points in the playoffs in 13 game. Yes I believe are d isn’t the greatest right now. But don’t you think Jim and allvin already know that lol They will make it better. We got dak back we got Myers back. We lost 2 guys that played well in the playoffs and that’s about it. Who wanted to pay 5 mill for a maybe top 4 guy. All of complained about Cole and how he was so bad. Soo we didn’t lose much there. We just got a guy that can kill are pk and that’s a beast at it, and only for 1.5 or something lol. Soo out of all this we just lost big z lol. Don’t think big z will win us a cup. Depth can tho
Evil lego
Ooof thoes are some painful exits. Shame. At least we got a few good draft picks The othe day.
Only painful if they didn't sign for as much money as they did out in B-Town
Canucks have
3 top 6 players
&
2 top 4 D
This is a negative spin.......and also kind of accurate lol
No
Yes
Better for Petey.
I don’t know if they got better … they were already a team that could have beat anyone but had to play without their starting goalie. Defense looks weaker but forwards look deeper, although small.
No they got worse no playoffs for them next season lol.
They did not improve
Too early to say
DeBrusk is as soft as they come……..enjoy.
Luke was right Canucks suck. And like the sabres they will never win a cup..alvin is a dolt, The owners are a joke don't spend money on marquis players..lindh9lm/zadorov/ their best players in playoffs and wont sign them is proof of there incompetence. Wouldnt give z an extra 300k to stay? Owners dont have winning mentality and never spend. Dont say the cap, they can make room. The best forward theyve had in 30 years is marcus naslund..messier didnt count..its a loser franchise for a loser city. Luke was right. Managing money doesnt win cups spending does. Unfortunately canada will never win a stanley cup again. Welcome to the new nhl where american owners buy cups$$$ this commentator isapointdexter what does he know
WE got faster!!! We just need to get rid of Brock now while he's doin something!!! Sorry to say!!! Trade him to Minnesota!!! thats
where he's from!!!
Canucks already have over priced forwards that cant perform a full year of nhl games. And they cant even play 3 full periods of every single game. Then they go and give up their best d man then sign more forwards why make so much cap space if not to get a great dman and waste the cap space for more forwards. So stupid honestly.
They’re worse off. We won’t make the playoffs next year, we won’t even be contenders. This is the worst off season they could’ve had. Bravo
Losing Zadorov imo hurts a lot. But getting a winger in DeBrusk to play with Petey is a positive. Our team right now is not as good as the playoff team we had.
