His voice, his humor , his friendly style were so strong and real. We were lucky enough to have a stageside table. Roger Miller’s warmth made the experience wonderful.
Roger who was also a fiddle player got his start through a friend who he hadn't known very long who was also getting his start in the music business, this friend was traveling with Minnie Pearl who was going out on the road for 4 months and needed a fiddle player for her backup band, this friend tracked Roger down and asked if he would be interested and Roger said yes, that friend was none other than Mel Tillis.
Well, I notice no Buck. If I had Johnny's Cash or Johnny's Paychecks or Owens Bucks, I wouldn't need Charlie's Pride. Ok, that's and old one, but I'm an old man. At least I didn't say if you mix an owl with a bottle of wine, you get Hoot Gibson, That's so old, I'm glad I didn't say it on here. Oh Yeah. The vice police once arrested Minnie Pearl for the price tag on her hat for prostitution, Oh No.
