Man, i've watched this review so many times over the years, his choice of words and turn of phrase is excellent, perfectly describing every aspect of the car. And so well delivered too. Top class.
Best Review I've ever seen for a car, specially for BMW. This old Pal is the best for sure. He expresses his intensive passion in Auto's in a way of harmony.
Alpina is a manufacturer not a tuning company, i know this is a very old review but still wanted to mention it. Shame for someone that does reviews not to know this. Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH & Co. Alpina works closely with BMW and their processes are integrated into BMW's production lines, thus Alpina is recognized by the German Ministry of Transport as an automobile manufacturer, in contrast to other performance specialists which are aftermarket tuners.
I can confidently say that I am the biggest S-Class fan in the world. But I have to admit, I saw a white B7 last week and it was one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen, at least it was from the front.
A couple weeks back I got the opportunity to drive a 2014 BMW B7 Alpina AWD. Wow what a driving machine. I'm a ole school muscle car guy and was absolutely blown away with acceleration to 120. This one was like new with only 14,000 miles but out of warranty. Tempting but no sale. If you get the chance do a test drive, I highly recommend it!
That hesitation is part of the adaptive feature, With out putting the car in sport and driving easy the car goes into economy mode, then receives full throttle and goes into comfort then remain full throttle sport mode. After flooring it its response will be greater or in sport sharpen up the shifting along with throttle response. Just a Journalist that did his research before the film. E for effort, still appreciated though.
The build quality on Ferraris and Lambos isn't something to brag, they're flawed as well like the 458's basically catching on fire because of poor quality glue in the wheel wells. I have a 750 and I haven't had issues nor do I see any major flaws in the build quality.
Csaba Csere is slowly becoming one of my favorite car reviewers. While I love every single one of Chris Harris' videos, there are too many reviewers that try to be like him. Seems like they all forgot what a true car review is all about. Glad someone is still making sensible, informative, and entertaining reviews. Great job
I remember 2~3 years ago I read his column on Car&Driver and Chubby Cheddar was mentioning his retirement. After all he started automotive journalism way before most viewer of this video were born I think.(His career began in the 70's?)
You don’t have to be wealthy I have a black 2013 bmw b7 alpina long wheel base awd and I bought it 4 years ago with 59 thousand km on it for 67k so think about it.
Excellent review, a notch above the rest in substance. Csaba Csere's extensive automotive knowledge shines through, as does his engineering background. I'd almost forgotten what substance looks like, with all the wiz-bang TH-cam car "reviews". Oh, and I drool for the B7.
You see a totally different side of Csaba when you listen to his reviews rather than read them in the magazine. As a buyer of these type of cars, I loved his thoroughness and his emphasis on what the car is and isn't. Many people think for this kind of money that the car should be a sports car, but it is not meant to be that, but rather a supremely comfortable luxury car that holds its own against many sports cars.
At 9:31 Good handling has been a virtue of Alpina for years, except for the Alpina Z8.. If you have ever driven one Csaba then you know what I'm talking about... Very sharp car the BMW Z8 but it was a dog that Alpina couldn't even rid of it's fleas..
rweghg3 But it's still such a very rare car & very valuable. I checked out on the car-market, and the only 2 I found where 250k+ Swiss francs of worth. (Francs because I live in Switzerland)
great review. motortrend did a comparison between this and the s8. even though I would love to have this car, after watching their review, the s8 seems a much, much, better car
I wonder how this BMW Alpina modified BMW N63 engine lasts in this specification. Apparently, again not a great BMW engine: Excess Oil Consumption, Fuel Injector Failure, Timing Chain Failure, Leaking Valve Stem Seals, Fast Battery Drainage
No. It tells you how fast a given car can go from stationary to 60mph. Is an S8 also more comfortable and more luxurious, then the mother of all Rolls Royce Phantom? No. Its faster and sportier. Yes, but its not a better car just because of the 0-60 figure. 0-60 times tells you so little about a car. Even if you want to use it for track driving, which you wont with an S8, it is also completely irrelevant as you don't go from 0 to something at any point in the lap.
Hmmm....3 seconds for a car that weighs 300-600 pounds lighter (c/d est). Yes very impressive. Of course if you read C/D's own review of both cars you'll find a split of BMW 4.2 seconds and Audi at 4.0 flat, so now it's only .2 seconds for 1/5 less weight. The B,W also has more HP, Torque and a higher top end (Audi limited theirs, but I doubt it would matter). p.s. The S on any Audi means tuned. Just because it's a part of their own company makes no difference.
A 2-3 year old one, sure. The GT is also a 2-door and if you are referring to the Flying Spur, they list from $185k+. You would need a 'Speed' to get close to the power/performacne of this B7 (or S8/S63) which is $230k+. You could buy this Alpina B7, M3, and S1000RR for the price of just the Bentley...
I frankly find the long version totally pointless: when you order an Alpina you are supposed to be at the wheel enjoying every minute of the ride, SWB looks better, it's lighter, cheaper, more efficient, etc. I've always loved Alpina's variants but that rear deflector isn't really needed and it somehow ruins the car's intrinsic sober elegance. Nice review as usual!
no i'm sorry audi has mixed feelings they bring out a s7 only with 420 hp and now they bring out an rs7 with 560 hp, which is better but, audi is making an average consumer confused atleast bmw knw what they have. Don't be suprised if they replace there world class s8 with an rs8. So all in all there not more refined just more confused about there ideas.
@Will Farrell yeaa but they have two unique goals and those goals will likely never intersect. Alpina pushes refinement and an unaltered feel to their modified motors while M emphasizes track performance and racecar herritage. No one can say that the two groups will ever share those values.
Nope, it's blue. In fact Alpina uses its own colour called Alpinablau which has changed subtly over the years. Hence also the blue dials. Blue and green are the trademark Alpina colours, as seen in the stitching on the steering wheel.
Please be even more geeky, precise and to the point when talking about the internals of the car. There is no else who does it, and it what I and many others like about your show, it is that it is not entertainment focused, but it is a show for petrolheads.
One question ... Why would you buy this car in the USA ? I mean you are never allowed to really drive you car legally. Like I live in Germany and you can really drive a car like this in a approperiate way ...
Because you can get all-wheel drive for the people in the colder climates like me. It also has the exclusivity factor, and he says its even faster at 11:58. Not to mention the bas model is slightly cheaper.
The ride is much better in the BMW and I'm sure the interior is better. Audi does make some incredible machines (see R8 and RS4) but for overall quality and performance the contest begins and ends with 3 letters. B M W.
I'm not much into big sedans but this would be my pick if i was in the market. Csaba Csere was good, better than most of your reviewers. Glad to hear him say his name, i've been screwing it up for the last 20 years.
Oh my god... C n R are racist !... i m trying to watch 2013 lightning lap montage and it says it is not available in your country.... how racist is that... that's why i watch motor trend and drive.
Yes because the 0-60 time is of cause THE most important parameter when you are buying a large luxury sedan. Never mind what it does as.. lets say.. a car. No 0-60 that is the most important. Really?
can you gys do a video of cars that are going to be taken off the road because of emission standards? i heard the older dodge durango and mazda rx8 can be removed because their emissions are really high
You don't want the 2012 it has the 6 speed transmissions. I'm taking delivery of my 2013 alpina at the end of September and it has the 8 speed transmission which is way better. I currently have a 2011. 750li with the 6 speed and this is why you can pick up these cars for cheap. Nobody wants this horrible 6 speed
+Oreo Cat actually I had it fixed at the dealer. They needed to reset the transmission due to how the last owner drove it. But anyone can own of these cars they go for real cheap so instead of buying yourself a Mazda or a ford go buy yourself one and please don't make it sound like I was making it seem that awful to own one I was merely stating a fact about the 6 speed versus the 8 speed tranny like it should have been from the beginning.
BMW Alpina B7. Veiculo totalmente para um publico exclusivo de executivo, que precisa de um veiculo atualizado tecnologicamente, motor, segurança, espaço, estabilidade. É um veiculo para longas distancias para chegar com segurança e conforto.
The center valve stem is trick. But does it meet US TPMS law? If so, then did Alpina modified a off-the-shelf TPMS valve? Or Alpina commissioned a supplier for a besoke unit?
Csebe is an outstanding car reviewer. His knowledge, attention to detail and insight is unmatched by no other automotive journalist these days. Fantastic job, C&D!
Gorgeous car....would love it...but if your in the market for a huge luxury sedan with lot of power and plenty of comfort for alot of money....why not buy a phantom?
I've noticed this -- It seems as if the Alpina edition is only in the BMW 7 Series. The other vehicles (3, 5, 6 series) is aligned with the M performance division of BMW.
I think I'm going to unsubscribe to everything else. All I need are these reviews. Between these videos and the magazine, I'm in automotive heaven! Thanks!
With all the turbo lag he's describing it sounds like those bigger turbos were overkill. Probably could have made a faster better driving car with smaller.
BMW F01 doenst have a great Steering ?? There is no Fucking Car in this Class who has a directer Steering Feel and rack then this 7 Series .. 750i with M Package and EDC is >almost < like M Feeling ;)
What I was talking about is , the movents what you give is what you get , about the input and the output of the Steering 1 To 1 .. Thats what is most important . I dont need to feel every bump .. Thats not the idea if direct Steering . Feeling the feedback of every Bump for instance, could be a result of a direct Translated steering. Now you know how direct steering is defined ;)
Does anyone know the specific name of this shade of blue? BMW lists four different shades available for the B7, and it's hard to distinguish them online.
Late comment, but he's right about it being a beautiful car. However, the vehicle has issues in the long run. Especially if you would drive this car a lot. Even with fair maintenance, the design issues with BMW V8's always seem to come up. Unfortunately, you have to do preventive maintenance on these machines to keep certain parts from failing. It's a very expensive task to keep up. But if you have the money and love these B7's, it's what you're going to have to do. Just ask a very skillful German mechanic, Sreten, from @M539Restorations.
He's one of the best. He has been writing about cars since the 1800's. He's the Chuck Norris of auto reviewers.
+kanobeez Chubba Cheddar is how old?
Where's he loacated?
kanobeez call him time immortal because I have yet to see someone live that long
Very well thought out and applied review! Good job C&D!
Well this machine is a pice of art just amazing engineering, I love it!
C&D, I've taken a look at both reviews Csaba did (B7 and S8). Did he happen to like one more than the other?
BMW Alphina B7 car is very good. I like THAT.
Just like Brabus for mercedes.
*no the brabus u cant order from Mercedes dealer, alpine you can order from bmw*
He is TheBibleMan.
Man, i've watched this review so many times over the years, his choice of words and turn of phrase is excellent, perfectly describing every aspect of the car. And so well delivered too. Top class.
what a great car review for the average user, The host has a very good tone which doesn't make my ears tired. Alpina B7 is a great bmw .
Csaba Csere... the best in the business.
Thanks for saying exactly what I was about to say! What a precision speech, detailed info and clear point only on we all want to here! Great video!
I can listen to car reviews by Csaba all day. Love this guy.

Good review Csaba. Regards Gustav
***** I can't pronounce this reviewer's name, but he did a great job in this vid I hope he does many more. Really like his style.

wow amazing review...he explained everything so well
Nice car and Excellent review
i always like this reviewer. He is actually good.
Great review and adequately concise
he really did give a nice review....cant lie
"I'm Chubba Chedda, and I'm here with the BMW Alpina B7" 0:01
Saw one of these pulled over by a cop yesterday
Another great machine from Germany
Love Alpina. Great review.
this guy is a legend. does anyone know why isnt he doing more recently?
aprilmustjune haha chubby cheddar, Csaba Csere

Nice review with great history back ground, made this review very enjoyable to an elder enthusist.
Either way they are amazing cars
you should do a drag race against a regular 750iL or even the 760 to compare
Want a fast car ? that's easy.
BE WEALTHY
buba426 lmao that's easy we have a c400 4matic

I miss Csaba. Last of the old guard at C&D. David E. Davis would only keep 1 or 2 of the current staff.
He needs to have his own channel here.
wow if I had a lot of money I would buy this upgraded super luxury 7 series, so much luxury comfort and speed damn it
great review. motortrend did a comparison between this and the s8. even though I would love to have this car, after watching their review, the s8 seems a much, much, better car

So amg benz is just a msport bmw. Alpina bmw is a true performance built luxury sedan.

*are you stupid, the m5 f10 is hydraulic steering, this one is electric*
Doesnt matter ..BMW Manages the same with Electric Steering .
LARS LH no, hydraulic is very different, you have the feedback from every little bump on the road, the electric its for comfort
What I was talking about is , the movents what you give is what you get , about the input and the output of the Steering 1 To 1 .. Thats what is most important . I dont need to feel every bump .. Club Bmw Amg so, why does the f30 m3 Got electric?
Does anyone know the specific name of this shade of blue? BMW lists four different shades available for the B7, and it's hard to distinguish them online.
is it sluggish also in sport mode? i would imagine it would be at normal and comfort - then transmission is also calibrated to be fuel efficient
About the wheels, you forgot to say that it's way harder for thieves to steal your wheels, and impossible for kids to deflate your tires :P
Late comment, but he's right about it being a beautiful car. However, the vehicle has issues in the long run. Especially if you would drive this car a lot. thx for posting very well explaination from well presenter.. but one thing he didnt mention "why its not good at all on snow?"
Im fan of BMW. But i have doubt about this b7. there is a 760i with 545hp so i dont se an exception like alpine model should be.
Csaba Csere didn't mention "turbo lag".
He tried to convey it to the audience but he didn't say "turbo lag".
Did you want to say it???
but its not as luxurious, bmw can make a car go that fast, but why would they they are about a balance of luxury and performance
How would this Bimmer compare to the Hennessey HPE700 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG? That would be a good comparison test.
0-60 in 3.8?@alpinas hompage its says that it take the b7 0-100km/H in4.6 so i think u are wrong..
Nope, it is 4.3 sec. Both of you have wrong info.
They under estimate the 0-60 so they don't get sued. Same with any car
Alpina is a classic version of BMW but G-power is a first class performance and Brabus is their main opponent
the tires don´t work on snow? seems legit with summer tires ;-) do you even have winter tires in america???
Alpina B7, Audi S8, F10 M5, or a Rolls Ghost? Forget the price tag what would you choose? Tough question
I thought the Alpina was tested against the S8 already. The S8 was faster and better all around car.
Thanks Chubba Chedda! I didn't believe it when I read the pronunciation years ago in an article.
Que entrevista más dura! Esta, la de el Napo y El Cherry 🍒 lo más duro.
fucking lovely review, old guy is great! love bmw love alpina
Csaba Csere (Cubba Cetta) always gives awesome analysis of BMWs.
Great video, but why buy a B7 if you can have the 760iL as well. v12 and oh well..4hp more.
right, i´m from germany and need to say that you´re the first american who understand it
best cars from germany !
you should have compared alpina to brabus not AMG .
amg compares to M serries now days.
Audi S8 have less power and 0-60 did in 3.5 sec. Audi is much better even than tuned bmw.
Which year did they implement xdrive for the Alpina B7?
im getting tired of the videos that i cant view in my country ! this is ridiculous !
The only reason I'm watching the Alpina B7 (love the car) review is because of Csaba.
