Thanks for this demo. My wife and 14 year old son decided the night befor to go snowboarding , I did not have time to show him how to install the snow chains. This was a great help
Same! Ima drive up to the sequoia trees tomorrow🔥Already been up there a few times but never in the snow. I’ve never even seen snow for that matter💀except when I first drove up to the mountains back in April. I’m 18 btw so it could make sense😂

1.So first off flip the chains around do the ends left over slap the ground not stab the ground. The loose end could come free and stab the ground unlocking the chains. 2. It nice to lay the chains down on dry pavement, but thats not when you need them. So, turn the tire, drape the chains over it, connect the back first at the bottom, make the chains straight across the tire, connect the front side. Drive forward slightly. Turn the wheel and tighten up the connection in the back then the front. Make sure there is no slack and the cables are straight across the tire. Drive for 30'. Get out and check to see if they need tightened. Then drive slow, no more than 35mph.
The cable end with the stop blocks on it is supposed to lay through the slot and hole in the matching end clip, not get poked through the hole. I don't know why, but that is what the manufacturer says.
Definitely do not poke the connector thru the hole. After watching this and having the cable fail, wrapping around my Axel and doing major damage- the mfg sent the actual way too connect these. The cable goes along the attaching row and clips in. Hard to explain, but I guess putting in Thru the hole can allow it to bounce out. Good luck
Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. I am about to have to use these and want to know the correct way. Are you saying what the man did in the video is incorrect?
@@AdamJonMusic How was your experience? Did you follow the instructions in this video? Did you have any issues? Did the guy in this video give correct instructions? I'm in the same situation now as you were back when you made this post!
The video explanation is very good. I bought this renhotecic brand Tire chain not long ago. It is easy to install and has a good anti-skid effect. If you have troubles with your car, you can try it.
Kristyn, it will take any slack out of the cable chains so they don't extend too far away from the tire and possibly damage your fender or fender liner. I would be sure to attach the rubber bungee.
You don't place the chain thru the hole. you lay it inside the slot. Manufacturer states this in their directions. for some reason they are adamant about this.
You can turn the wheel all the way left or all the way right if that is helpful. That might allow you to reach the chain connection and tighten further.
I should have seen this video before. I did for the first time but didnt put the Rubber Grip in the end, causing one of the Tire Chasing fall of somewhere i dont even know 😂😂😂😂
can you drive with snow chains when there's no snow out? for example i live 45 minutes from the mountain where there's snow, i would install the chains prior to hitting snow? is it safe to drive on regular freeways with no snow?
I agree with Ricky D. When driving on pavement with chains it could be dangerous because the chains will lower the grip to the road. Also, it will be very bad for the car as there will be quite a bit of heat buildup and grinding on the chains. Short answer... wait until you reach the snow. - a small trick... use your floor mats as a knee pad to keep your pants dry.
Charmie A. If your engine sits sideways it’s front wheel. If it sits straight it’s rear wheel drive. Or just put it in drive, press brakes hard while you punch the gas and tell me which wheels spin lol
it should be on your sticker or which tires spin when you are on rain or snow. FWD front wheel drive, RWD rear wheel drive, AWD all wheel drive. most non sports cars are FWD if not AWD
This was a cable chain that was sold by O'Reilly's Auto Parts. I don't remember the actual product but most cable chains will look and install like these.
@@cloudconnect there’s always someone on every chain installation video who throws that out there but not a single one can actually explain how to do it. They just want to feel special.
Michael Heathman he actually did install them wrong. Tensioners aren’t supposed to be used on this style of cable chain. A tensioner is usually used the v-style cable chain or mostly used on steel chains. It especially helps to use a tensioner on steel chains to help keep the slack chain links from flopping around when you drive.
yes the tag end should be going the other direction. The chains are left and right side and can be put on like he shows but I would do them the opposite.

The exact set we just bought on our way to mammoth and saved us $50 being able to install ourselves! Hope uninstalling is just as easy 😂 thank you!
Update uninstalling was just as easy!!
Did you install on all 4 tires? And does it come with 2 or all 4?
@@RodrigoGarciactg 2 for whatever wheel drive your car is
The tire should be turned a 1/4 way out front for easier access to the backside.
Uninstalling is even easier IMO.
I will be chaining up tomorrow... wish me luck!
watching this after spending an hour on the side of the road failing miserably and getting minor frostbite in my hands and feet :))) funnn

Putting chains on in 2021: Listening to two voices or am I losing it?⛄😅🤣😬
We did the original video but then had to add some edits after the fact. It was the same voice just a different environment during the recording.
One voice was in the background after I made the video... I thought I would add a bit more context. Sorry about the confusion!
What brand did you use ? It looks easiest of any thing I’ve seen so far
Those are the peerless ,I believe!
Thank you! very helpful video.
Thanks Steve! So glad that we could help. LOTS OF SNOW OUT THERE THIS WEEK!
super easy! thanks for the steps.
It’s my first time having chains and I was wondering if the rubber bungee cord is a must have because it didn’t come with the chains...
Kristyn, it will take any slack out of the cable chains so they don't extend too far away from the tire and possibly damage your fender or fender liner. I would be sure to attach the rubber bungee.
Mine didn't either. Going to try it anyway
Did that rubber come with it?... cause I got the same and it didn’t come with the rubber band thing
my cable chain set didnt come with the tension rubber thing.. is it totally necessary?
Awesome! Thanks for the info
Is having cable chains on every wheel on a 4wd vehicle over kill?
Super helpful!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it, Thanks!
Is that bungee required?
yes, it keeps tension on the chains so they don't unlatch themselves
Helpful!
Glad you think so!
Thanx bro
Happy to be able to help!
Could you tell me what brand is it thanks??
Warm clean garage! Try this in a real life scenario with freezing fingers and blowing cold wind, snow and mud everywhere.
Thank u

Do i need all four tires chained up for a fwd car ?
Just the front 2

Hi according to the manufacturer, the male does not go through the eye , it goes to the side of the eye, re read the manual. Thanks

Rule of thumb, dont go over 30-40 with the chains on, Ive had them bust off on me before at highspeed.
@Michael Heathman What's the cap for?
@Michael Heathman Thanks.
J’m gonna see how my cable chains hold up in a harsh winter. I figured I’d save money and not buy snow studded tires.
I axtually bought studdeds off an old fella for 400 total
How do you know your car is front wheel drive, rear wheel drive, or 4wheel drive?
Charmie A. If your engine sits sideways it’s front wheel. If it sits straight it’s rear wheel drive.
Or just put it in drive, press brakes hard while you punch the gas and tell me which wheels spin lol
If you don't know, you should not be driving in the first place.

nope got left on right and right on left that loose end should not be pointing forward. .
Can't believe you posted this, check with the manufacturer's video, and remove this video.
WRONG. The cable is installed in the wrong direction.
The S-shaped clip should be the first in the direction of tire rotation going forward.
Title wrong. These are tire cables, not tire chains.
Good call! Let me see if I can change that.

yes the tag end should be going the other direction. The chains are left and right side and can be put on like he shows but I would do them the opposite.
Yeah, the guy puts them on backwards. He doesn't use the connector correctly either. Exactly wrong .
please do no t purchase these chains, will spin on tire , you have better traction without chain.
Thank you👍
