I'm getting one of these soon. I just can't afford to pay my flat rent and bills and i refuse to work 50 plus hours just to scrape by month by month so I'm going to disappear and live off the land somewhere. Will be an adventure thats for sure. Great video mate 👍🏻

Have a look at south African “Campmor” canvas tents…mine has been up permanently in the uk for nearly 2 years with no issues at all….just a bit greener than it was originally as on a sunny tree line.
Honestly haven’t even had to re peg it as it came with with big J ground pegs which just flex rather than getting ripped out and are awesome anchors.

@@gazgf Thanks for the recommendation buddy but I'll need something I can put up and take down quick for when I get moved on. Looking for something similar to the Russian bear hot tent but something a bit more affordable. Fingers crossed I can get something substantial for my needs. Thanks again for your comment 👍🏻

Absolutely love that tent. I've stayed in tents similar to that one in the military. If it was me, I would fold the lower portion back under the tent on the inside and put sand bags or some kind of weight all around the inside and put support poles around the inside where the guide lines meet up and a pole in the center of the door. Tighten it all up again and it will be a lot more sturdy. But that me, and I like the idea of a wooden floor. Stay safe and healthy.

I thought about putting the snow skirt on the inside of mine. Sandbags are a great idea though I think the mice in my wood might open them up! Hmmmm, might give it try.
The extra poles are a good idea too :)

Kooks great my long time friend. I felt it incumbent upon me to tell you that I watch Beck and yourself like always I just don't have the time to interact in the comments as much. Covid has destroyed the employment over here so no one works so those if us who do are doing the job of 3 employees and 14 hr days becomes tiring. But you guys will always be my favorite TH-cam family and you made me famous with the Scotch egg video my man. Thank you Semper Fidelis

I love heavy canvas tents. you stay dry. Spent three days in a canvas tent in 72. I rained so much, we have to break camp at the end of third day, just before dark, because the water had risen to about 10 feet from the tent. Three days of heavy rain and dry as a bone.

I DO VALUE your work outdoors. In this case, having a reliable look at a long-term setup builds confidence that 'it can be done.' During the 'Victorian Era', the USA had a vogue for summer tent communities organized around religious denominations. They featured a raised wooden platform and solid floors to control the damp and to provide attachments to which the tent could be anchored.

Excellent video! If I ever need a tent that size, I'll consider it. For stealth camping, I like my Ionosphere.

  • @robertauld2242
    @robertauld2242 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Looks like a good tent for a winter hunting camp as long as you can drive to your setup site. Stealth camping I don’t buy that; you just can’t break down and vacate an area on a moments notice. As far as a more permanent stealth camp it’s the right color and the light blocking abilities are a plus; but I’m betting that down wind for at least a hundred meters one can detect the odors of bacon, burgers, and sausage.

Hey, great tent. Reminds me of mine in the military, although we paratroopers didn't have it as comfortable. Laugh, let me know when you have the half sow and a small barrel of scotch. Couple of cases of good beer, I'll bring.

Is there any way to seal a base to the tent sides to prevent the rodents getting in, so more sealed ? Wooden floor over some base sheet to prevent rising dampness & retaining heat better? Think someone mentioned sandbags to seal , but that does not seem to be reliable to me. This tent is probably the best thing around for long term camping, so robust & reliable.

I bought a very similar tent advertised as an ex British army Arctic ten man bell tent at 16' 2" diameter and 8' 6" but it doesn't look like the size of yours and I suspect it might be a five man as the diameter is no more than 12' or 13' and the door is significantly lower. Have you ever come across a five man tent and what is the internal diameter of the floor space. I was well inspired by your set up but worry I might have been short changed. Thanks a lot

I got the same bell tent from anchor supplies.
I have it up 3 nights, heavy downpour last night. A few places where letting in water small amounts in micro holes. I have to the liner with it as well.
The tent is 10 man grade a and liner.
Any help would really appreciate it.!!!
