    Thanks so much for this video. It was very helpful. And I agree also with Rail travel. It's so much more convenient and faster than driving in congestion when it's point to point travel and no shopping bags ;)

    Da question is: Would Patrick Mahomes live in Ewa Beach? I no tink so. Maybe the 49ers playoff team? Ocean Pointe and Ewa Gen are fine for most people. Make sure you have solar panels on da roof, because HECO will smoke you with high electrical rates.

    I felt like Ewa had a ton of food options. But I'm Asian and live in a mainland town where there are ZERO good Asian restaurants in the immediate vicinity (nearest options are 45 min drive over windy mountain pass) so I'm easily please lol. I agree I wouldn't drive specifically to go to restaurants there, but for people that want food/malls in their immediate neighborhood it was nice.

    There are nice restaurants in Ko Olina, which is easier than town. Ka Makana Ali’i has much more than Cheesecake Factory. Not to mention most of the golf courses have decent food. In my mind, Ewa Beach/Kapolei is one area.

    You missed out big on the con of no good food or nightlife - you didn't even mention the Wai Kai project that was just a couple weeks from opening prior to you launching this video! Kitchen Door is one of the best restaurants in all of Hawaii and now the LookOut is a great spot for casual dining and entertainment 7-nights a week - plus so much to do from Surf and Paddling.

    • @movingtohawaii
      @movingtohawaii  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We’re planning a whole video on Wai Kai. I grew up in Ewa though 🤷‍♂️ surfing almost every day. Kinda windy spot for paddling, but yes it makes it much easier to have an ocean focused life as opposed to say Mililani

    It’s not the restaurants with good food it’s the local people selling like poke guy behind 711 or guy behind friendship church those are the gems of Ewa

    I’m from Maryland, eastern shore of America and moved to Ewa. I have lost 35lbs because the food is all experimental for me. I’ve tried a lot but like very little. Sushi Bay is great- but that Mexican place at the outside mall is unseasoned and tasted disappointing. It’s not authentic 🫤 I admit I am a VERY picky eater but I am a good cook with catering experience and have not *loved anything I’ve ordered from anywhere. I cook at home, eat salads; spicy ahi poke is good but it only was a delicacy in Maryland, not a daily staple. I think about starting a weekend food stand to put people on to other food options like Chipotle food bowls, seasoned meat corn tortilla tacos, and hearty vegetable dishes. I love it here and the weight loss is a plus. Not complaining, just saying!

      @movingtohawaii  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should TOTALLY start sharing your food ideas! We need more from people like you. I'm curious, what are those hearty vegetable dishes you're talking about?

    • @KPhillipsReelArtMultimedia

      @@movingtohawaii Two veggies I have made at home in Hawai’i a lot is cabbage and kale. I stew both Irish and Southern-style and dry roast cabbage like a giant crispy Brussel sprout with a variety of sauce toppings. I was vegetarian but do add things like smoked turkey to stewed or steamed kale and corn beef brisket to stewed cabbage. They make simple, non-fatty, clean dishes that taste good both cold or heated. I also have a smokey glaze made of Tennessee honey whiskey I add to bbq sauce that can go on anything from wings to roasted corn or squash. Mashed potatoes is another specialty. No gravy needed but my gravy is a passed-down recipe from the heart of Virginia on the Chesapeake Bay. I really want to experiment with blue crab here because it’s a staple where I’m from! Thanks for asking.

    I lived in Ewa Beach in 1976 - 1978. Talk about change. I don't know how anyone can afford to live there anymore. I would love to return. I went to Ilima Intermediate and James B. Campbell High during those years. For now, it's TH-cam Videos and Google Maps to walk around and see the changes.
