As promised, here's an update on how the MRT Remote Central Locking system has been performing over the past 6 months since I first installed it in my MRT canopy. If you missed the initial install video, you can check it out here: • MRT Canopy Remote Cent...

Great follow-up video, Daniel. I'm definitely leaning towards central locking on my canopy....getting sick of locking and unlocking 6 locks all the time.

You've convince me. I was against the central locking idea until I watched your original video then went out to use my canopy again and yeah... it has to happen now. Cheers for the update as well!
I reckon some custom Exploranger mudflats would set your rig off nicely as well 😉

No worries at all - it's been a game changer for us! Nice idea regarding the mudflaps, I've been meaning to get around to getting some stickers made up for it too. 🙂

Our work utes have the canopy linked to the cars central locking. One fob does the ute and canopy doors at the same time.

Mine has stopped working. 3yrs down the track. And it was always pretty dicky. The buttons sit a bit proud on the remote and get pressed in your pocket.

How do you keep your canopy so clean? It always looks amazing. Thanks.

Hey mate, I usually give it a wash after trips to get dirt off while it's fresh, but other than that nothing special! Although I do try and leave it lifted off in the garage during the week which helps too.

    Good review mate.
I'm talking to mrt now getting quote for my new canopy. Do you have a contact at mrt Perth to mention that your videos sent me there way?
Also can't decide which to go the with 860 or 1m high version? Does the door height bother you on your head?
I know it would be less wind drag and look better to go 860 high but worried that I would be ducking under it constantly.
If you did again what would you get?

Hi Keith, I mainly went 860 so that it would fit in my garage, however I've been quite happy with that height overall. Before my suspension upgrade I did find it a touch low, and I had to duck under the door a bit (I'm 6'2") but since the 3" lift it's not too much of an issue anymore. 860 also means the awning is within easy reach for setup too!
Just letting them know that Exploranger's videos sent you there would be awesome. 🙂🍻

      @@explorebound thanks mate
I didn't think of the garage and I plan to do a lift kit too. I went to Mrt and they put the 1m high one on the back for me to view. It was to high and would be hard to reach anything on the roof rack. I have ordered the 860 high one and mention your name.
Only sad thing is it's an 8 week wait no stock. Positive is I guess, plenty of time to plan out the inside.

Could you just wire it in to your factory central locking so you can just use the car key to unlock all of the doors?

Yeah, it would take a bit of customising but I think you could tap the system into the factory circuit pretty easily. Personally I haven't found the extra dongle to be too much of an issue though.

Thanks for the reply. Finally getting my Hilux next week after ordering it back in May. Looking forward to getting out in my first 4X4.
