That's about a 200m win. When Jane was crossing the finish line 2nd place would be just cresting/would have just crested the 2nd terrace, literally the whole straightaway apart.
I was there watching my daughter from Trabuco Hills... It was such an Awesome Experience!!!!! Honor to be there!!!! Cold, Wet and Rainy..... and enjoyed every minute watching this race. The Trees in Portland are amazing also! It was a great excuse for a family trip!
I just want to acknowledge the wonderful and amazing sportsmanship from all these athletes and thank you for allowing us to see that! Amazing race in tough conditions.
Great race by all the girls in very tough conditions. That's the most dominant national-level win in HS cross I've ever seen. Chapeau to Jane Hedengren. Great, great race by the other podium finishers: Victoria Garces and Elizabeth Leachman. I was super impressed by Leachman, who battled injuries from the end of last year's track season through this year's cross country season. Coming back from being out of form to finish 3rd in this race is amazing.
This is the greatest girls high school cross country race in history, given the talent and depth and to win by such a large margin in phenomenal. I have a feeling in track some high school girl will run close to 15 min flat and maybe even someone will break 15 and run a 5k in the 14 something min range. These girl are just sensational and this winner so reminds me of Parker Valby, such guts and courage!
Parker Valley's college record was 14:52 and she was the first NCAA woman to go sub 15 minutes, so it will take some insane high school talent to crack 15 minutes and might just warrant going pro directly out of high school and skipping the NCAA, like Hobbs Kessler did.
@@ningkaiyang So true, the girl who came in 2nd, Elizabeth Leachman ran 15:25 as only a sophomore last year and to see her get beat by 40 seconds, OMG. This will be a very interesting high school girls track season, probably the greatest of all time.
@@janetstorm7881 Leachman actually 3rd 😂I was rooting for her but yeah, she's nowhere near her peak fitness after some injuries and such. She will be racing Footlocker and should have a strong presence there, though. Maybe defend her Footlocker title.
Just remember Katelyn tuohy dominated in highschool and beat Parker lots of times and I think you should watch some of Katelyn’s nxn runs as well as her collegiate 2022 nuttcomb race against Parker. Parker is just now showing talent, but Katelyn has won 3 nxn titles in highschool and quite a few collegiate titles. Parker is impressive for sure, but this young lady raced like Katelyn tuohy which is why she broke her record
Jane has developed into an excellent runner over the last couple of years. She has excellent mechanics and even more upside. Have to give some credit to her Dad who is an excellent coach, especially in regards to mechanics, form and long term development.
Galen Rupp is such a great commentator…hope he does more! However, having current pro runners interview the top finishers is always super awkward. Let’s leave those interviews to people who have the experience to pull them off.
first time watching day-off, the production quality and turn around is insane. I have a drone and hopefully can participate in production of local/state races
@@JohnHoulgate I just checked the Woodbridge results and Jane finished ahead of Sadie. Janes own teammate Lily finish ahead of her as Jane was coming off an injury. Jane finished way ahead of everyone at her state meet and at regionals. The way she ran at nationals should have be no surprise to these announcers. If she stays healthy through the track season you will see.
Great racing!!! Everyone will be asking about when she will be running in the Olympics now though. LOLOLOL Seriously though, she will be an Olympian from going to BYU and let Coach Taylor develop her incredible talent!

41 second win. Incredible.
odd
She looked like a woman running with girls.

Taking down a KT record is LEGIT. After missing her xc season last year, this is a BEASTLY comeback. Congrats Jane!

18:21 - I wouldn’t exactly call 4-5 seconds a Shattering of KT’s course record, but that was a dominant wire-to-wire victory. Awesome run Jane.
Mile splits for Jane:
5'14" at 7:03
10'34" at 12:22
15'59" at 17:48
~11'09" at 12:57 for (5 km - 1 mi), 5'24" last mile.

Sensational performance by Jane Hedengren. Breaking Katelyn Tuohy's course record and dominating a very talented field.
when Mia Sirois becomes a senior she may be absolutely dominating. 6th place crazy

Just the weather they need for this race. You have to have true grit to prevail

She did fine.
Yeah, that was terrible.
Yes to more Galen Rupp announcing - he was so good!
Wow! Hedengren was so dominant (again), especially under such miserable conditions. Congrats to all the runners.
Enjoyed that. Thank you from Germany.
2nd place Victoria Garces from Michigan mentions Grit which has become the slogan for the resurgent Detroit Lions this year.
She pulled a Nico Young!
Perfect XC weather and course.
Leachman won the Foot Locker XC national championship.

Great work, Jane!
These announcers need to do their homework. Jane has been doing this all year
