- Just north of Broome and Willie Creek, Barred Creek is an amazing free camp right on the beach.
You’ll need a 4WD to access this lil piece of paradise, or a very capable 2WD with good ground clearance 😜.
The crystal clear aqua blue water 💧 was absolutely amazing, and fishing right off the beach felt like a dream.
There’s plenty of exploring to be done here or you could just take a moment and fully chill out.
Unfortunately we had to cut our stay short due to Zu and Karstan being unwell, but the time we did have here was awesome!!!

So what you are telling me is big tyres and one wheel drive is as good as needed. That's what it was like for me back in the 70's and 80's 2wd open diff, beach, corrugations no problems.

Very honest of you to show the down days. A lot of TH-camrs just edit out the bad times and act like nothing happened. Still, a down day on a beach with a fire and an amazing view can't be that bad 😜

I've got a 4WD this year for the first time, so previously I'm used to bashing around the bush in 2WDs, I like the Kombi!

Awesome episode .. we love Barred Creek you have probably left but be careful there is a huge crocodile that lives in that creek ..
i was going stock standard like you guys and let the tyres down to 1Bar/ 1000kpa never had any problems until one day got stuck in very soft sand then let it down to 800kpa. The old kombi was in many ways better than a 4x4

You guys remind me of the Layland brothers ,they also traveled in a Kombie but then they later were travelling in 4x4 Toyota ,I liked the show learning about places in Australia, people would write them asking them to explore some place that the viewer knew of or heard about for some reason. I preferred watching them driving the Kombie .it was a educational tv show 😊
Originally, in the 1960's Mike and Mal, the Leyland brothers did their original adventures in modified (wide wheels, fat tyres), old Series LandRovers, the Kombi trips were later done by Mike Leyland and his wife without Mal, the brothers split over a failed business venture. They lived in Newcastle NSW too, same as Karsten and Maxine. They're all legends...

@@KarstanAndMaxine a combination of both, long term travel you really have to think a few things through, racially you/we are not designed for the sort of outdoor sun exposure, for example aborigines can handle
a bit of high vitamin d sun is good, but too much is skin cancer territory
