I love Kura sushi, they are all over Japan. Super affordable and you have a chance to win a prize every 5 plates you put into the machine, which certainly made me order more than I needed to.
"burger" sushi is surprisingly not uncommon here in Japan. And unfortunately, what you experienced (Salisbury steak mislabeled as 'hamburger') was also very authentic to the Japanese everyday experience. Even though Italians get to be picky about what's called "pizza", I learned the hard way that (as someone from the land of hamburgers) if you try to teach people that one can't make a true, "traditional" hamburger patty out of one-third each: breadcrumbs, pork, and [maybe] beef, that it should be made from 100% ground beef-cow... suddenly I'm told to my face that this is simply "just an [read: untrue] opinion" and that part pork/bread burgers are [paraphrasing] "objectively more delicious". This rabbit hole goes deep - there's a whole category of Japanese food they inappropriately call "Western food" - 洋食・yòshoku, that is just pale imitations of various foreign foods {other than Chinese, which has its own bastardized category, like in a Panda Express} that use things like ketchup as a placeholder for "tomato sauce". Just look into the history of "spaghetti Napolitan", a classic Japanese "Western food" favorite. It's horrible. But 5-y/o's love, it. And they keep loving it until through their nineties. On the other-other hand; I used to be quite the snob about sushi when i was brought up in the US (i still freaked out a little when you dipped your rice directly into the soy sauce, out of pure habit) until I came here and realized how laissez faire they are with the toppings. When you hear "it's all about the rice", that ain't no joke. Even conveyor sushi rice in Japan tastes better than anywhere in the States where you don't get to watch them make your 寿司っ. But supermarket/conveyor sush- in Japan is only *sometimes* better than places that upped their game in the US (from most recently, Texas is my frame of reference). So don't worry about the meatloaf (or "hamburger", as they mistakenly call it) on your sushi. But I noted that you weren't enthused about the rice - that is definitely a sign that that place might have just sucked. And despite all of that, I want to point out that I like Japanese food - particularly the traditional stuff when they don't cross out of their wheelhouse. And I've heard whispers and rumors of places in Tokyo that have managed to properly educate/equip themselves to make authentic versions of even things like Texas barbecue; so, it's coming along. どんどん
Comparing the prices of Kura Sushi there and the prices in Japan. Was that 3 dollars a plate on average or something? That would mean the prices are AT LEAST double.

どんどん
@4:52 I lived in Japan for 4 years! The tablet/conveyer line setup is seen all throughout Japanese Sushi establishments!
Comparing the prices of Kura Sushi there and the prices in Japan. Was that 3 dollars a plate on average or something? That would mean the prices are AT LEAST double.
Yeah it is $2-4 depending on what you pick. I would be shocked if Minnesota prices were not more than Japan just from transport and all.
So technically every sushi roll was a burrito before they portion it into bite sizes 👀
Best part of sunny is each and every sec never dissapoint us

Looks and sounds like hell. Why oh why would you go there
Wait until the robot says sorry for the wait but we're really busy.
This guy always seems to crack me up 😂😂
This is crazy!! Amusement park inside the mall?
This isn't the largest mall in the world. Not remotely close.
At this point, I don't even care what the theme is. If Sonny is in it, I know it's going to be good and make me laugh :)
Sunny I have bad news for you that Frozen Banana was Vintage 1999 !!!! LOL
As being a Minnesota resident the parked car joke at the end hits home. I can NEVER find my car after spending a day at MOA
I cackled when he passed on the cucumber in the sushi place 😂
I lost it at that fountain credit card swipe 😂
Rockhampton Australia has had sushi burritos for years, I love them
The camerawork in this was really good!
I'm Sonny's defense, there often is "cola" fairs and amusement parks 😄 This show is great 🫶
Using the American Express in the wishing fountain was brilliant.
@11:24 God, so much EYK / Simon & Martina vibes from the sexy food shot bit LOL
I love the mall of America. I grew up in Minnesota and is one of the best places to grow up.
Cavatappi is the noodle and is the Italian word for corkscrew. I hate that people instantly refuse Rocky Mountain Oysters or bull fries when they find out what they are. Don’t knock it, try it with ranch, cocktail sauce, or creamy horseradish.
Glad you did not get shot in what was formally known as Camp Shoot-Me (Camp Snoopy). One of the few malls in the US that has its own police station as the intrepid developers decided to build the Mall of America square in the middle of the hood of Bloomington, MN. My friend and I were assaulted by seven fine young gentlemen from the area one night - seven on two is how you do it. I went to court to testify, but the one fine young gentleman who was arrested out of the seven was being held in another county on murder charges - I was not needed.
If you want to go on a trip somewhere, I would recommend anywhere in the world over the Twin Cities - total cesspool of violence, high taxes, and crap weather.
That all being written, thanks for the videos Sonny - keep up the good work!
Great content!!! enjoy watching your channel!🙂
