Elio e le storie tese Is the name of the band (Elio and the troubled stories). Is AN Iconic (and ironic) band from the 70/80's. They are something like Frank Zappa.
I’m a huge fan of progressive music, British, American and Italian. Elio e le storie tese is probably one of the best Italian bands of all times. Tapparella has been even played together with Santana on the Italian tv back in the 90s (check ‘taratata Elio Santana’ on TH-cam). If you want to try pure Italian 70’s progressive, I suggest you to check ‘Banco del Mutuo Soccorso - Evoluzione’. Cheers!
hello, Elio and the tense stories, is a group much loved by Italians. Highly sought after music with very very eccentric lyrics. The Front man Elio does not sing a real story but uses the words for their sound. Even the staging is designed to get out of the ordinary and create a stir, always in good taste.
This whole concert was indeed live, but without audience! It was a stunt organized by Samsung to promote its Nexus series... or something along these lines. Elio e le storie tese are a staple in Italian contemporary history, they started in 1979 but stopped playing together in 2018... Very sad times 😭 They are not strictly a prog rock band as they have songs from about all genres of music (discomusic, classic rock, pop, rap etc...) They heavily rely on their funny and complex lyrics to carry their music, I can't imagine listening to them without understanding what they are saying! In fact in this very song they are singing about a typical middle school party and how Elio wasn't invited but still managed to sneak in. The ending is dedicated to a member of the band (Panino) who sadly passed away while playing with them... They used to play this song last in their concerts to leave the audience on an heartfelt note... Also the leader of the group is actually Mangoni, the one dancing behind the singer Elio
Not their best live, but glad to see EelST on a reaction channel. They are without a doubt the best Italian band, period. It's also good to hear your reaction because often their music is ignored, believe it or not. They started as a "comic" band, their lyrics are often surreal, depicting crazy and funny stories, which led people to take them for jokesters for the longest time, not realizing how amazing they are as musicians... but they do have a darker, more introspective side. It came out more after the loss of their friend and band member Feiez. I encourage you to read through lyrics if you do more reactions, they're essential to the musical context. Final fun bit of trivia: they've played extensively with James Taylor on tour and have jammed with Santana.

Many already commented this but the funny story they are telling (actually sad but told in a so funny way) is probably more than half of the beauty of this song, more than the hi level music they are able to compose and perform. Even reading the translation of the lyrics won't let you appreciate its greatness, with all the references to the local culture and the use of words, the timings of each verse.. there is so much! As native I can tell you the "ha now they say that thing" is much more immersing than the music alone even at the nth listening. They are geniuses and this is a masterpiece by them like at least other 20 they wrote, maybe more!
