Review Part 1 of 3: Classic Game Room reviews TIMESPLITTERS: FUTURE PERFECT for the Playstation 2 PS2 video game system from Free Radical and EA released in 2005. Time Splitters is an amazing series of first person shooters FPS designed by Free Radical. TS Future Perfect is the third in the series and possibly the best. You play as Cortez sent from the future to the past, then present, and future, back to the past, and future, and you get the idea. It's an awesome game for shooting game fans who want a fun story and great action. Originally Timesplitters had an amazing online function but it was cancelled and discontinued a few months ago and is no longer hosted on the servers (which SUCKS). CGRHD is eagery awaiting a new Timesplitters on the Playstation 3 PS3 or Xbox 360. We demand Timesplitters 4!! MAKE IT FASTER. I think Free Radical is making that game HAZE and we're getting that as soon as possible, but Timesplitters is what we want around here. I want to play as Robofish and shoot Ninja Monkey and Mr. Giggles and the Gingerbread Man. TSFP also came out on the Xbox.

If there's one thing I'm proud of, it's holding on to my copy of this game for the gamecube. Even as a small child I knew that this game would always be gold.

I remember spending all day with my mate just creating different maps and then playing the virus game mode on them ha ha th story was fun too... hard to believe it was almost ten years ago

This game was the best. I remember sitting down with my friends playing multilayer. It had some of the BEST multilayer characters ever.
Played this game on Gamecube so many times, single player, co-op, multiplayer... I remember every single line of the game, the backgroundmusic, the levels,... It's FPS at its absolute finest.
12 years Later and we still dont have a new Timesplitters
Wish I had played this or any other Timesplitters games on PS2 back then. Maybe one day I'll get it again and definitely check this out, the game looks great.

I just beat this game 20 minutes ago! The whole game was amazing- even today! I got it for around 5$ at a classic games shop and it brought back so many memories!

+eerniizz no I played it when It first came out a little at a friends house- we used to play split screen multiplayer all day. So I got it and beat it and it's amazing. Time for #2

ow, it comes to the ps4 as well. Here's hoping it becomes a true sequel (the last time i watched and from what i understood (english isnt my mother language)), the project would be developed by people all over the world, it happened before with other videogames and (well, i know one) it came out great. Fingers crossed! correct me on this, if i made a error thou.
+Rekkn_ it wont be a sequel, more like a fan made game, it will only have all multiplayer features, no plans for story missions or challenges etc as of yet, who knows maybe in the future they will make it a proper remake of all three games

I love this game, I miss it so much. I remember me and my friend used to play what I called insane duck hunt where it be me and him versus shit tons of duck bots on the hardest difficulty with just snipers on the ice level.... it got fucking crazy ugh so many memories.
Or me and my cousin would create a dim lit stage with a safe room with lockable doors, powerups, health&armor, different class guns, and turret control panels, on virus mode, damn i missed those days.
@svampreview Nice to see another swedish fan of the Timesplitters series! My story goes quite like yours, although I never sold any of them. Recently bought the first installment, damn it's hard! Long live TImesplitters!
I remember watching my older brother play this when I was like 8. The zombie level creeped me out.

in options under pause menu u can change the way u move like in the first and second. where the gun doesnt always aim in center but where u turn
Best shooter series so far. I hope for another equally good title, even would buy the needed console just for the game itself.
you can't be serious this is a piece of shit compared to counter strike, and i loved ts back in the days.
I think counter strike is too nerdy - lokiing at its community, their playtime and the fact that they spend hundreds of dollars for weapon skins (!!).
linkinparkroxx Skins came only with cs go that came out in 2012, first cs is 1999 and is anything but nerdy.
Well if you refer to the original CS - you don't refer to the whole series. I stated that Timesplitters is the best shooter series. You only name one part of a series, which again is something completely different (:
linkinparkroxx there is only one cs with skins, idiot. hardly call that a category for the whole serie. they didn't have skins for 13 years out of 15. get wrecked. TS doesn't come close to CoD, halo or cs.
Please, please make these in HD! By far one of my favorite FPS series ever! I hope a sequel comes out! Online MP would be so Epic, the monkey in particular should make a return LOL

this has got to be one of the most underrated games of all time, it has tremendous story, awesome gameplay, and amazing music. if timesplitters 4 doesnt become developed im gonna be pissed

I never noticed that U-Genix was a lot like DataDyne from Perfect Dark, but the clips you showed now look extremely familiar; I'll need to try that level again with that in mind.

First of all, great review! Makes me wish I hadn't traded my PS2.
But I'm tired of all the commenters who seem to think they're better because they prefer older games over those such as CoD. It's award-winning because it caters to the audience and does a good job of it. Sure, there are unlikable aspects to certain titles, but hell--the videogame market is vast, and there is virtually anything for anybody. So stop bashing mainstream games out of the blue unless you have some insightful reasons.
They need to make a TimesSplitters 4, how fun would it be to play a TimeSplitters game online again on Xbox Live or PlayStation Network?

The Enquirer You can build a $400 PC, and most PC games also have local multiplayer, of if they don't then you can probably mod it in.

To be honest i've not tried, its been years since I last played it.
I'm just glad they (Free Radical Design) finally finished HAZE now so they can go full steam on finishing Timesplitters 4.
I've spoken to the creator, David Doak a few time too, really nice guy.
Ah, the old days of TH-cam. No videos longer than 10 minutes, and original content that's easy to find without having to sift through unoriginal lets plays and reaction videos :)
@MrPoil254 yes you can! Choose playstation 2 emulator or the Dolphin emulator to play the gamecube version.
Did you ever play the Xbox version? As that had a load of maps from Goldeneye as free DLC.
I do like the sounds of the guns. Something I like about that old gun sounds, that made them sound utterly devastating as well as the damage they made. Like some of the weapons in Perfect Dark.

You should really look into reviewing "Second Sight". It was created by the same people who did Timesplitters and it was really fun!

This game is awesome, I love the humor in this game, and I especially love the co-op mode! I think it would have been cool if the 2nd player would have their own special weapon though, kinda like how the 1st player gets the watch with the grav gun.

You said that Killzone 1 and TimeSplinters 3 is both great FPS. But in your opinion. Which is the best when it comes to replay-ablity? Also I like your classic game reviews. Since I don't have a X360 or PS3, only xbox1 and ps2 because I'm poor. Lol.
Is there any games that are similar to this? esp with co-op Story mode? Fuking love it and just completed it!
The zombie mansion was my all time fav level and the moose boss was just hysterical, not to mention his catch phrase

I just ordered this and Maximo Ghosts to Glory for my new PS2. Somehow I suspect this will get more play than my X1 and PS4 lol. CGR needs to check out the new Onechanbara game btw it's awesome.
Time Splitters is an amazing series, part 2 was my first ps2 game ... only got it cause it came with a free controller ... and I got it before I got a ps2! I wasnt expecting it to become my favorite game ever!, Time Splitters: Future Perfect was a brilliant addition I had avoided getting it for so long when it came out because I was so inlove with number 2, boy was I wrong I loved the story to part 3 and the cutscenes where amazing! I just rebrought the game today! :D bring on the weekend!

I remember this game really well. It was the goofiest, dumbest, silliest and most insane game I ever played. And I loved absolutely every goddamn second of it. They just didn't care if they offended people, they just made it fun.
My favorite character was always Brains. I loved being an undead chimp. Something about that just screams awesomeness.
Killzone, Red Faction, Bioshock and the first Halo are my favorite FPS games of all time. I have not played this version of time splitters but this review made me log onto Ebay and buy it. The Half Life Series is Awesome as well!

Anyway... what I don't understand is the fact that Crytek doesn't want to develop Timesplitters 4, but on their site (if you go to the section with all their different studios) there is this description for the Nottingham (= Free Radical Design) studio:
"Crytek Nottingham was founded in 2009, comprising a highly talented and experienced team, formerly Free Radical, the creators of the TimeSplitters franchise."
Why are they bragging with the fact that Crytek UK made the Timesplitters series? While Crytek UK was denied to make a sequel to the series (The trilogy that generally scored higher than the Crysis trilogy.......). It's like throwing all your gold in the toilet and then flush it away!

@lazyluke712 i realize that but im talking about when almost every game that came out had cooperative splitscreen support. remember you would be able to play the story mode with a friend?
@svampreview Awesome! Future Perfect is the best in my opinion! Storywise and overall gameplay. Although TS2 has a certain feeling and atmosphere that is almost better! Have fun with the 3rd game! I will go on and try to beat the first installment while I'm waiting for the fourth! :)

Me and my lil brother got so hyped up to play this game again on coop on hard mode this game is the best FPS game made for coop.

I picked this game up for 3 dollars at the base thrift shop in 2008 and my wife and I still play it. The best shooter since Goldeneye!
Ive only played the first 2 Timesplitters and really considering looking for this game in gamestop now
I'm looking for a good arcade multiplayer split screen game that I can play with my friends offline (since none of them have an xbox). Does any1 have any tips? I really enjoyed Timesplitters 2 and 3, and also the multiplayer function of in the Halo series, just so you know kinda what Im looking for. Please help, because it seems the game companies are removing the offline multiplayer mode
Do any of the Timesplitter stories connect? I've only played Future Perfect all the way through, Played bits and pieces of the first game but never tried the 2nd game.
Me and my friend had TS2 and we played it all the time. Then we got this and it was so awesome we played it like everyday. It was surprising that no one else played it.

Man...while I love the really deep, in depth games, I always find myself coming back to these ones in the end. They're just so much fun that I can't put it down. I got my first taste of the series today since my friend let me borrow TS2, and it's awesome. Halo ain't half as good as this... why does it get all the attention? This game deserves a ton of credit that it never got. That, and a fourth game.
This is my favourite shooter of all time. Countless hours of fun.

I remember this game when my dad played it when I was a kid. My brother just hid under the table and I closed my eyes and ears when the zombies came. Good memories...
Reminded me of Perfect Dart also. Obliviously, Robofish is my favorite character too.

this game is frickin amazing... i had so much fun and it had coop which not many games had or did well... most fun you can have is on that disco arena with rocket launchers only... insanely fun... i hope there are more to come in the series
Thanks! And I can respect someone disliking CoD for valid reasons (*ahem* hackers/modders). It's fun for me sometimes, but I prefer Halo more, myself. I just can't stand blind rage toward something just because they see a lot of others disliking it.
But all things considered, I'm very interested to see how Black Ops II turns out
@DarthSchwartz In my opinion yes, although playing the other ones make you understand the story a bit better.
Future Perfect is an excellent game and the story is fantastic. It is extremely memorable. More content than the other two games, the most powerful editor of all of them. I just wish that this one was slightly faster paced - it seems a little slower than the other two.
@legostopmotionfilm i read an article. here's the story line. "Cortez is on vacation at the beach, but he notices big bubbles in the horizon. he here's gunshots from it, then jumps into it them. then he find himself in prehistoric times. Cortez finds out that they're 'Time Loops' , where history literally repeats itself. so he's thinking it might be Timesplitters messing with time again."
It's really fun but not many know about the game, which makes it underrated but still one of the best games of all time.
Why now are all the games army based or the new one, have no idea
which should I get it for? The xbox, ps2, or gamecube? Does the xbox version work on a 360? and does the ps2 version work on a ps3?
When I was growing up my parents wouldn't get a game console, but would get annoyed when I used the the family computer to plays games. So in 2010 one of my friends gave me his old gamecube and 6 games (call of duty 2: big red one, sonic riders, ect) then told me I could get cheap games at gamestop. Later that summer I watched this review then rushed over to my local gamestop and found luckily they had a copy in stock for under $10, it's probably the best console exclusive I have ever played. I still go back to play the campaign a lot and a few years back I joined a discord server that plays the ps2's networked multiplayer via LAN mode and openVPN. I just wish we had gotten an official PC port because it's so hard for me now a days to go back to aiming with a thumb stick, at least emulators have mouse injector mods now.
Playin this with 3 buddies is fun for days and i love the humor in this game!

i had it on ps2 and 8 players was just enough for me... loved talking in lobby
i love timesplitters for over 10 years, part 2 and 3 were so great, best and most motivating shooter of all time, as a reward for achievements in the game there were tons of complete new and greatly designed multiplayer maps, nowadays you simply have to buy these,
timesplitters was so much better and more innovative than nowadays shooter like battlefield, which have nothing to offer exept great graphic
A must buy ! im sad then i sold my ps2 to get enuf money for a 360 but hell TS4 is in the macking cant wait for to se some gameplay of TS 4 in the future :D

@Dizazsters Hey, a good FPS for the gamecube was Perfect Dark. . . if you haven't played that you should give it a try. I consider TimeSplitter, GoldenEye, and Perfect Dark all must haves if you owned a Gamecube.

This one was always my favorite, mainly because of its absolutely HILARIOUS. 2 for Multiplayer, 3 for Single Player.
