    I’ve had 2 Fireball 100s and a few 6505s. The Fireball is a beast of an amp.

    Making me love my 6505+ even more. Man. Killer tones on both but the thicker 6505 for me all day long.

    @meatsmudge5349 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    They both sound so badass. Love my 6505+ and the slightly thicker tones you got from yours, but that Engl is on the same level with just a slightly different character.

    I would say ENGL was a liiittle more defined and tight but man... you can't go wrong with either! Both are Brutal AF!

    both are good amps, strangely enough i prefer the Peavey, i did not expect that.

    I have both, I love both. The Fireball 100 is my go to amp for the studio and the gigs tho, it sits better in a mix, the built in noise gate is pretty good also. Not to mention the truely amazing clean channel

    Amazing riffage! It's a matter of taste; both great. Fireball for solos, and peavey for riffage

    Of course you gotta love the 6505 but man there is just something special about the fireball. It just sounds gorgeous.

    I really dug the 6505+ in this shootout. I have a heavily modded 6505+ that is modded to sound more like the original 5150 on the red ch and a marshall jcm800 tone on the green ch. Not a bad sounding amp. Loved the killer riffage like usual!!!! \m/

  • @monsterk7603
    @monsterk7603 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have both of those amps. Love them both, but I find myself gravitating to the 6505+ more. Great video!

  • @monsteralex3098
    @monsteralex3098 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Great comparison! Engel is stiff, raw, tight, harsh, fizzy and has less mids. Peavey is more smooth, with more midrange and sounds much fuller. In some riffs I preferred more peavey for its smoothness and fulness but overall for metal wins fireball for me. Especially in fast playing =Engl stays very tight and articulate.

      One word: Transparency. The ENGL has more of it, but the 6505 can be modded for that quality and you still get the 6505 and its tone at a lower price, by far.

  • @rustynales4597

    I initially had my eyes closed and every time the peavey came in my ears would perk up

  • @ordohereticus3427
    @ordohereticus3427 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Killer riffs!
    These are quite close in terms of gain and aggression but I think the Fireball had the minor edge. Either would be great in a mix, live or in studio.

  • @briancooke5532

    If you are a high gain player, how could anyone hate the 6505+? That amp is the definition of metal and has been the amp of choice for countless metal bands, but everyone is entitled to their opinion 🙄

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't think anyone hates the 6505+, though. Cheers -Ryan

      @@Crypticmaskguitar I was applying to your comment when you stated that the 6505+ is a polarizing amp, you either love it or hate it. That is why I was simply saying, how could any high gain metal head hate that amp, it is amazing!

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Hahaha! I thought you were talking about the comments. Yes absolutely, you are right. I think it’s mostly because it is a darker amp. But there’s always a plus when amps are polarizing… they are usually cheaper on the used market! Cheers -Ryan

    Fireball = broad sword
    6505+ = hammer

    Try turning on the magical Mid Boost on Engl, it will do a miracle with the amplifier

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Just like boosts… the Mid Boost works for some scenarios, but not for others. It’s a great feature! But I don’t use it all the time. Cheers -Ryan

  • @johnmaddox1712

    it’s cool how amps have such different flavors. The 6505 is more 90s/early 2000s sounding. Raw and thick. obviously machine head esq. Metal sound but still with a hint of rock. The Fireball is “extreme metal” sounding and a bit more modern high gain ness to it. neither is better than the other just depends what you’re going for. And great playing as well

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. I certainly don't do these to see which is "Better". It's good for somewhat of a reference. But there are WAY too many EQ choices you could make to change the outcomes haha! There's a reason why recording guitarists have 20+ Amp Heads. It's great to have options to change things up... only downside is the amount of space that 37 Amp Heads take up hahaha! Cheers -Ryan

    The Newer Fireball has one of the best metal channels ever. It sounds so good and it really able to cover tons of metal tones. Obviously it’s not versatile at all, and the clean is pretty bad, so the price is pretty steep, but the lead channel is so awesome I’m considering getting on again as a one trick pony

  • @UncleYoshi
    @UncleYoshi 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    There's more saturated gain with the Fireball. Peavey needs an OD or Boost pedal to keep up

  • @lovecraftmusic8717
    @lovecraftmusic8717 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Fireball for me... It's meaner and without that honky mid freq.

  • @cizmar1972
    @cizmar1972 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The Engle Fireball sounds so much better. It has better scooped sound and sounds better for deathmetal and thrash rhythm chugs without needing an OD to help shape the tone. Having said that, I love the 6505 as well.

    I was like damn nice scooped tone then heard the one that's actually scooped 😭

    • @Crypticmaskguitar
      @Crypticmaskguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both amps can come across as dark, as they both have a ton of low end and have great focus on the lower Mids. Lots of people hear low end and think that is "Scooped". "Scooped" would be having a deficit in the Mids in relation to the Bass and the High End. Cheers -Ryan

    • @necroticpoison
      @necroticpoison ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Crypticmaskguitar Yeah I know. Original comment was partly a joke. I've just been used to using a shit ton of mids through the (NDSP) Fortin NTS and the Granophyre for productions so it threw me off hearing those tones
