I feel the same way, Julie. The sculptors dropped the ball and blame the consumer for their lack of foresight and due diligence. Natalie Scholl has created a security system for her sculpts and they are even coming for her. They don't want to do anything that will create true accountability on their part. It's really disgusting. Kitty at Little Wattle's Nursery has just posted an excellent video pertaining to this. I have always wondered how a buyer in this hobby ever truly knows what they are purchasing. There is nothing that proves anything especially once a doll is resold. Crazy. ♥
I bought an authentic Pickle only to find out it was replicated. Why didn’t Nikki protect her work? I spent $1,200 what for? I won’t be able to sell it. I just received a Lottie that is 6 months late. I can’t even bond with her. Now what? I have to sell her. The whole process ruined it for me. I’m quitting or buying replicas.❤❤❤

I will never understand how the reborn artists / sculptors don't grasp they are destroying their own hobby. smh It just boggles the mind of a rational person. They Created the problem(s) in the community & then push the blame onto collectors / replica collectors. In the 9-10 yrs replicas have been on the market, they've done little to nothing to fix any of the issues & continue to attack those that are NOT responsible & who have no control over it being fixed. You can't get much more unprofessional than that. smh I turned my back on the reborn community 3 yrs ago. ZERO regret. In fact, life is much less stressed & I'm happier in the bigger Doll Community. Oh dear…I am a newby here…just found this channel and have seen a few other TH-cam channels showcasing their dolls and have become interested in possibly purchasing a doll that calls to me. But I am unaware of the drama and it is not clear to me when your upset is about. Are the designers of these dolls unwilling to sell them to a particular community? I hope I get clarification before I embark on this as a hobby. Meanwhile, thank you for the video…and your dolls are beautiful. If you enjoy them still, keep them and continue to love them….
I'm in the process of working and going to post my own video on TH-cam about the reborn doll community. Let's just say it's a two part video over a hour and a half long. It's going to be called 'The Dark Side of Reborn Dolls, The Reborn Community and Outsiders'. I'm not even a collector and the livid anger I've felt lately about all the drama from all sides is beyond anything I've ever experienced in any hobby/social communities that I've been a part of in my life.

Also Natalie Scholl has designed a security system for sculptors to help protect and authenticate their sculpts. It comes down to the sculptors doing more to protect their work and going after those companies that are making copies of their sculpts, stop going after the collectors/consumers! I hope you stay in the doll community, and continue to enjoy your collection and collect! We all love watching your videos and seeing what you share! Ive been in the reborn community since the very early days when youtube actually started and ill tell you it has gone so far down hill that i left it because of the lies ,drama and craziness that has gone on for so long ,and i mean its been going on for a long time now , the reborn community isnt what it used to be , so much scamming now to the point i completely lost interest in the hobby as a whole , i now collect lee middleton dolls and adora dolls as its way more affordable and theres not so much drama involved, but i dispise the reborn community because that market has become what i call a scammers paradise
Hi Julz! Though not a reborn collector, Its very sad whats going on in the reborn doll community. Its meant to be a hobby that we all should enjoy and support each other. But its become very toxic industry and is robbing all the nice doll collectors out there. Julz, do not sell your dolls if you love them. Enjoy them and just leave the reborn community. You can do utube videos of the other pretty dolls in your collection. I'm sure many of us would enjoy them. Good luck in whatever you choose to do. I've been collecting dolls for 60+ years, and never depended on a "community" for my hobby. I would never give up my collection just because of humans that are being "brats." If that was all it was to your hobby, I'm not critical of that. I am only saying my hobby means far more than "reborns community." I started out collecting baby dolls long before there was such a thing as a reborn, anything! I never considered it a business. I give away some of the dolls I have fixed up. It's not a business to me, it's a way of life and a hobby only. I collect what appeals to me. Yes, I have about $6000 worth of dolls staring at me right now, and they are my babies. I hope you can come to terms with this issue (yes and a huge one at that) and be comfortable wherever you land. I wish you well. The artists can just "chill" for a while. This isn't any different than an artist painting group, or illustration and graphics group. They always think they are better than anyone else, so I dumped them too. Been there done that. It didn't stop me from drawing or painting or graphics. Guess I'm a loner and always will be! 🥰 Hugs to you and good luck.

I want to go back to that with my other doll types. I wish I stopped at $6k but I have much more invested in reborn dolls (multiply your number by 4). So yes I do see them as a fine art investment. If these people can "copy" someone else's sculpt, why can't they just make up their own sculpt to make? Then they could feel like they made something for themselves. Copying someone else doesn't make you special.
I’ve been a lurker in the reborn community off and on since 2002 and man some stuff just never changes. It is still so weird to me that a hobby that was born out of people repainting berenger play dolls and nobody was defending berenger on them missing out on any money to this situation. I’m kinda glad that I’ve always stuck to manufactured doll collecting. I do plan to try and paint some reborns but it’s mostly going to be for myself and some close friends. It stinks all arround people just need to be kinder.

I’ve followed because who doesn’t love a good drama? but im second hand embarrassed for some of you. The behaviour is very high school, mean girl. I invite you to join our fashion doll community! It’s so versatile, and can extend exponentially. The bad vibes in the reborn world will devalue all the dolls, for sure. I’m a good example.
