Perfect timing again break time for me at 2:46 pm this windy and sunny uk day in Kent drink in hand and my fellow Noraettes are here in the thread and more fantastic content to enjoy on my break thanks Nora I’m glad your little cousin loved her cardigan
Girrrllllll….. I hit the motherlode a few weeks ago at Goodwill. So blessed to happen upon someone’s destash, super high quality yarns (alpacas, cashmere, etc). And I bought it ALL. At $1.99 per skein/ball and 5 grab bags at $7 per bag. So much yarn. I’m sorry for the original owner that is no longer able to use this yarn, but I am giving it a good home!
Once the cake becomes too loose for the gelato container consider digging out a knee high pantyhose or foot of a pair of tights. They give compression to the ball as it shrinks allowing it to stay in cake form without tangling. I know these days they sell pretty yarn skein coats but this is the make-do method that has been around forever.
That color work is adorable. Too cute for me, but it looks great on you. I think the T shirt yarn would be great for a textured/cabled pillow, and be washable and soft. I have been thrifting yarn for years and have never found a score as good as this one!
From Aunt Laurie. Im so glad Emma loved her sweater, but how could she not? Great job! Congrats on the Goodwill finds. That luscious plum color would look great in that floaty tank pattern you showed a couple of weeks ago. I love the colorwork sweater. I can see that over a floaty skirt with great leather boots. Great video!
Ohhh I have soooo much to say!, First, the Folklore cardigan is just stunning! I want to make it so badly, but there’s so much I am going back and forth on that is making me hesitate! If you like to thrift, you HAVE to go the Red, White and Blue in Waterbury (if you haven’t already). You will love it! And may find some of my donated yarn I gave when I recently moved!😂 As for the colorwork sweater, you will love it and probably look at only colorwork patterns from now on! My first was the Soldotna and it’s so fun, you just want to keep knitting to get to the next color or design! I can’t want to see it! Looove you’re videos❤
I'm so jealous of your thrifting yarns! Your most recent $7/bag is awesome. I want to go shop where you shop! I would suggest you make a scrappy blanket with all the random yarns. I've done both crochet and knitting scrappy blankets. If you double the fingering, it will use up a lot of yarn but the blanket will be completed faster.
I just found your channel this past week, and I absolutely love your content! I am also a crocheter who just learned to knit at the beginning of last year, and you have inspired me to try things that scare me! I'm part way through a lacework dress for my niece, and up next is a full cabled sweater for my daughter 😄
Beautiful work on your cousins “swifties” cardigan! Lucky you getting that big bag of yarn. You will have fun planning what to make with all that yarn. That color work sweater is going to be gorgeous!
Thoroughly enjoy your podcast Nora! Your thrift finds have inspired me to try thrifting yarn and I just posted a video of my incredible thrift finds here in New Zealand. Thanks for the encouragement!
The Lantern Moon cords are also swivel (they remind me very much of the chiaogoo cords) and they fit the knitpicks needle tips. I found them on Amazon and each set of cords comes with their adorable wooden end caps that I absolutely love using. Just another option for you.
The Lykke cords are a plastic cord (they dont knink as much as the plastic knitters pride cords) they fit on the knitters' pride needles and also swivel.
To use that beautiful skein in GW bag I would use the free Outlander mitts pattern (there's probably enough for you & a friend or partner (that color of yarn & fingerless pattern is unisex). You can make them long or short & those colors would be great with any neutral outerwear or sweater. I love the mitts bc I can still use my phone, open dog 💩 bags & the rolled edge mean I can roll up for cold & roll down when needed. Plus, besides the thumb gusset it's all circular stockinette in round so perfect for process knitting in front of TV or while conversing! Google free Outlander fingerless mitts~ enjoy!
Wow amazing thrift finds! I think there are many shawl patterns to use up the fingering weight yarns. Stephen West has some cool ones, with many different stitches - for example the Aurora cabin. The shawls are enormous, and you end up with hundreds and hundreds of stitches at the end, but so you get to change yarn and stitches frequently so it stays interesting in my experience
Your sweater looks so pretty. I'm working on the body of my colour work sweater now, but when I was working on the colour work, I would make sure I held a little of the yarn looser whenever I was changing colours, so that my floats wouldn't bunch up. I think when you stretch it out, it doesn't look as loose as you might have thought it did. That's how it's been for me anyway :)
Happy Saturday to me! Just getting time now to finish watching this! As always all your projects are gorgeous! Your color work is just beautiful!!! I think you have given me courage to try!
Saturday and Nora Knits, there’s no better combination. Miss Emma looks amazing in her cardigan! And the EweKnits sweater is stunning. Happy knitting 💚🧶💚
My one #StashBustSpring exception happened today because me and a friend have been planning to take a little day trip to a LYS that neither of us had been to before, and I found one skein I absolutely could not leave without. Not quite a yarn festival, buuuuut fun special occasion type purchase
Lovely job on the TS cardigan for your niece, Nora ...and how could she not love 😍 it and you for the love that went into it! You are probably already aware, but if I you have several in-the-round WIPs using the same needle size, you can put say size 7 tip and 6 tip interchangeable needles on the same cable and use the size needed as your lead needle to keep gauge. 😉 This has been a lifesaver for me when I found that out! Now you've got me thinking Talenti galato... but if I pick some up it's for a good cause, right?! 😆
Thank you!!! 🥰 Yes!!! I was thinking the same, but the cardigan is knit flat so it won’t work here-but definitely a big part of why I probably won’t buy new needles for the future! Hahahaa yes i say it is cheaper than a yarn cozy + environmentally friendly to reuse and basically a 2 for 1 😂
So..... inspired by your stash bust spring I cast on a Tolsta tee in some recycled cotton yarn I've had for a while.......it is sooooooooooo heavy!!! 😂 And I only have three balls so have had to make the sleeves super short to allow enough yarn for the body........it's going to be the warmest summer top EVER!!! Love your colour work sweater.......it's very pretty and super neat 😊
Fabulously entertaining episode! The colorwork sweater looks incredible on you. Cannot wait to see it next week. Thanks for a long episode, I always enjoy spending time watching your channel. Thanks again!
Yay to using stash yarn! Just finished the ELISE scarf using up some silky sock yarn.. Love it. Several plans in the cue that will use my stash yarn, so I'm joining from here (without Instagram)!
I’m going to be knitting the folklore cardigan for my daughter. Can’t wait for your vlog ❤. Also I am going to do the provisional cast on like you did. That was an awesome idea 😁. Always look forward to your videos, love your aesthetic and your personality.
Congratulations on your cousin's sweater! it's beautiful. I had to abandon when the background music started (for some reason, my brain cannot handle background music.) See you next week!
Thank you!!! I totally understand-just for reference, it only lasts the duration of the “try it on tubing and chat,” but that’s good to know! Thank you!
@@akaNoraKnits Thanks for your understanding. I had been reluctant to say anything. It seems to be a trend. I've had to give up so many audio and youtube podcasts because of the background music. Didn't realize what was irritating until I involuntarily took a breath of relief when the Commercials started!
For real!!! I was shocked that the kit was so much more expensive than just buying the balls individually lol. Just seems so strange! But it was great to work up!
I love those thrift store finds. I have been very intimidated by those giant bags goodwill does, but I might give it another try. I just frogged a shirt, because I wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t like the patter/yarn/color combo that I was doing. Oh no! Now all this yarn is going into stash? Nope! #stashbustspring, here I come. I am making The Flirt Skirt instead. 🎉(Through Perfectly Knotted, designed by Claire Jackson)
They are sooo hit or miss. But you can always purchase the bag, take what you want and then donate the rest back at the donation center! You can even get a coupon for doing so! That sounds like such a great way to turn around an unfortunate event. I’m so excited for your skirt!!
I've got my knitting, I've got my coffee, it's Saturday morning and Nora's on!!
Woohoo!!! Thanks for being here!!
Fav Saturday morning activity hands down!!!
@@akaNoraKnits Where are the best kind of places to thrift yarn?
Perfect timing again break time for me at 2:46 pm this windy and sunny uk day in Kent drink in hand and my fellow Noraettes are here in the thread and more fantastic content to enjoy on my break thanks Nora I’m glad your little cousin loved her cardigan
Yayyyy! Thanks for coming to hang out !! Noraettes 😂😂😂 I love it! Thank you! She really did!!
I love your podcast! Coffee and Nora now is the equivalent to cereal and Saturday morning cartoons when you were little 😂
Awwww yayyy! Thank you so so much!
Nora and everyone else. Sun Dragon has step by step on how to knit rununculus including how to do the different stitches
Girrrllllll….. I hit the motherlode a few weeks ago at Goodwill. So blessed to happen upon someone’s destash, super high quality yarns (alpacas, cashmere, etc). And I bought it ALL. Whaaaaaat?! That is AMAZING!!! It’s so fun to rescue yarn!!
Jelly Roll blanket! Quantity doesnt matter, and it's an addictive knit.

That’s such a great tip!! Thank you!!!
Congrats on a wonderful cardigan! It must have felt wonderful to gift such a wonderful treasure and it be so well received!
Thank you so much!! It really really was!!
Thank you for including those of us not on Instagram! 🎉
Fellow thrifter ❤ doing your KAL now (months late) thru the end of the year.
I love the fabric that’s being created for your stripe free tee with those two yarns
Right??? It’s so fun to see it come together!!
That color work is adorable. Too cute for me, but it looks great on you. I think the T shirt yarn would be great for a textured/cabled pillow, and be washable and soft. I have been thrifting yarn for years and have never found a score as good as this one!
It is so cute!! Thank you!! I never even thought to try cabling with it! Great idea!
What an incredible gift for your niece!! She must have squealed with joy! It looks so good Nora!
She absolutely loved it! Totally shocked and it just looked so perfect on her!
From Aunt Laurie. Im so glad Emma loved her sweater, but how could she not? Great job! Congrats on the Goodwill finds. Thank you!!! She was so sweetly excited! Thank you! I agree it need to find its way into a summer tank! You are reading my mind!!
I’m working on 3 folklore cardigans for a girls trip in May 😅 I’ve got all 3 back panels done and I’m not ready to do the diamonds on the sleeves
Oooh my gooodness hahahaa. I am sending you strength 😂

You’ve inspired me to try thrift stores for yarn! I love your energy.
Thank you so much!!! It’s honestly a whole hobby in itself!! Good luck!!
This t-shirt yarn demands to be turned into a crochet bag!
Oooh so fun!!! I agree!!

Your thrifting makes me so happy. I often donate yarn I no longer want and it’s nice to know there are people out there who enjoy them!
Oh my goodness--it is the best treasure hunt and so fun to find such great deals!!
Absolutely love your colour work jumper colours are perfect
Thank you!!
Your big bag of thrifted yarn is so amazing!! One day….🤞🏻

Love all your projects! My local yarn store has consignment yarn and books. So that is my thrifting.
Thank you!!! That is so cool!
The Lykke cords are a plastic cord (they dont knink as much as the plastic knitters pride cords) they fit on the knitters' pride needles and also swivel.
Those multicolor ones look like Zauberball!
Score doesn’t begin to describe your finds. You go girl
Those sock yarns are PERFECT for scrappy socks! Check out Kay the crazy sock lady for a pattern . Or a jelly roll blanket
🎉 Gorgeous fabric!!!! 🎉 what a great idea to hold them together. So happy to see how well that fabric works for you.
Thank you!!! It makes me want to get even more creative with other combos!
Definitely flashbacks 😂 😊 looks like you picked the perfect size this time!! Can’t wait to see this one grow, it’s lovely!
Thank you!!!

Thank you!!! That’s so good to know! They seem so loose 😂 I feel like I may have just overcompensated a little
You could make a basket or macrame plant hanger with the yellow Tshirt yarn
A basket!!!!! I need another little yarn tote honestly. That’s a great idea! Thank you!
Happy Saturday to me! Just getting time now to finish watching this! As always all your projects are gorgeous! Your color work is just beautiful!!! I think you have given me courage to try!

Yayyy! Thank you for being here 🥰 she really does! She was so so happy! Thank you!
The Heirloom Quilt Cardigan is kind of a fun stash busting pattern. I'm working on that now in a slow way.
I have been eyeing that one!!! I may just try it one day!
My one #StashBustSpring exception happened today because me and a friend have been planning to take a little day trip to a LYS that neither of us had been to before, and I found one skein I absolutely could not leave without. Not quite a yarn festival, buuuuut fun special occasion type purchase
Totally a reasonable exception!! 😉
The multicolor/color-changing skeins from the thrift look like zauberball yarn!!
Saturday morning knitting with Nora! So much fun!

Thank you so much!! I never know if the long episodes are just too much, so I really appreciate the warm reception!!
The unlabeled multicolor yarn might be Schoppel Zauberball, which is a good sub for Spincycle Dyed in the Wool. Such great finds!
Yay, I’m glad your niece liked the cardigan. And your color work sweater looks great! Very well done for your first color work!
Thank you!!!
Love my Saturday mornings with Nora.
Yayyy! Thanks for being here 🥰
Yay to using stash yarn! Just finished the ELISE scarf using up some silky sock yarn.. Love it. Several plans in the cue that will use my stash yarn, so I'm joining from here (without Instagram)!
Yayyyy!! Love that you are joining along!
I have an empty cardboard cone, it weighs 26g. I’m sure there is heavier ones out there as well. But hope this helps with estimating yardage.
You’re the best!! Thank you!
I’m going to be knitting the folklore cardigan for my daughter. Can’t wait for your vlog ❤. Also I am going to do the provisional cast on like you did. That was an awesome idea 😁. Always look forward to your videos, love your aesthetic and your personality.
So exciting!!!! It’s definitely the best shot and having everything line up seamlessly! Thank you so much!
Great podcast as always. I look forward to my Saturdays watching you and your knitting journey 😊. Where are your earrings from? Xx
Thank you so much!!! I have honestly had them for nearly ten years and they were originally bought at a small boutique. They are a favorite!!
I'm currently working from stash on one project and from thrifted yarn for another project. Very excited about both!
Yayyyy! That’s what I love to hear!!
The yellow tshirt yarn...I wonder if it would work for a market bag?...or maybe it would be too stretchy🤔
Oooh Maybe!!! I’ll have to see what people usually use it for 🤔

almost positive that the cone of yarn is wooly knits 4ply merino wool in tierra beige. looks like the cone i just purchased anyway. :)
Ooooh I will have to look!! Thank you!
I am making a bubble sweater for my grand for my stash busting project.
Yayyy!
mrs p. just what i was going to suggest
This is better than the ginger bread man this is the Mrs ginger bread, potentially with a tray of cookies😂
Hahahahaa it certainly seems like a perfect photo op for FO pictures 🤔🤔🤔

I love lion brand wool ease, and machine washable! I don't think I've paid more than 5.49 a ball though... So definitely shop smart😋
For real!!! I was shocked that the kit was so much more expensive than just buying the balls individually lol. Just seems so strange! But it was great to work up!
looks like you were using a make one technique i struggled with this too, and had holes but I looked up some stuff on youtube on how to fix that!!
So good to know!!! Thank you!!
