I think the first song I remember as a kid was Every Little Thing She Does, but Roxanne was definitely in the top 3 first songs I remember hearing as a kid in elementary school. lol Best part about Roxanne was that I had no idea why she was putting on the red light. Such innocence! lol By the time I was in my first semester of my Freshman year at uni, I had Dream of the Blue Turtles on repeat. Sting's voice has been like a soundtrack playing throughout my life. Oddly, I've only seen him perform live once, and he made the Meadowlands Stadium in NJ feel like a small, intimate venue. I've seen dozens of bands and solo artists perform all over the US, but I've never quite seen any one person quietly and subtly command an entire sports arena of people the way Sting did. That was his Fields of Gold tour, and he was spectacular. Never got to see the Police perform, as Synchronicity was their last tour and they never returned from their "sabbatical" during that tour.
It's not that life is too short or too long...it's that there's no such thing as the past or the future...the only thing that's real is this moment. One day you're a baby, the next you're an old man.

Same here! I am 100% sure he is touched with something spiritual because of the way he has been able to convay his music for so many decades now and it just lifts our spirits listening to it. I know he went and studied all different cultures of music from all over the world so I am sure he was enlightened by that experience! He is 70!? Holy crap! He looks great!!!
I've followed this man's career from his early days with The Police to his solo career. Much admiration for this man. I was lucky enough to have met him quite a few years ago. He came to Toronto to promote the movie he was in with Denholm Elliot called Brimstone and Treacle. My friend won tickets to go see the show and there were only 100 people there. Afterwards, they had an exclusive party at a club for all who were there. It was an amazing night because Sting jammed with the house band and they did quite a few Police tunes. He was so kind that in between sets he would come by and chat to everyone. He came by my friend's and my table and stopped and politely introduced himself, shook our hands and spoke to us for about 10 minutes. He was a gentleman and god knows how much my friend and I adored the Police. It was a wee bit intimadating to speak to him, but he was so kind. I'll always have a soft spot for this great singer, songwriter and film actor/director...producer. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! Sting and man many more.
I got to see Sting with The Police at Hollander Stadium, Rochester, NY, back in the 70s. Best concert I've ever been to. We're the same age. So many gifts of great music over the years from this rock god! Many more birthdays, Sting! 🌟👑🌟
@@MAAivoges Wow, didn't know Sting sang in Portuguese. That is such a fantastic language. I love Milton Nascimento's music. What a wonderfully talented Geordie is Sting - (as much as he pretends not to be - a Geordie, that is - I'm just from the other side of the river, pet - a "Jarra lass"). First saw you with the Police, at Leeds uni student union, having just released Roxanne for what I believe was the third time (late 70's) and haven't wavered since. As a solo artist, I've enjoyed your concerts here in the States - relevant and charismatic as ever. I imagine the setting of (favourite), "Fortress around your heart" as Medaeval Newcastle and the beach beneath ruined Tynemouth Priory, windswept and wild. Evocative lyrics, unique phrasing and instrumentation, Sting will weave his music - a vibrant tapestry of glorious threads - into your senses, and take up residence there - must be his North Shields roots!
