Those dress locked lostbelt fights had me pissed since i normally would dps and stall out the rest of the shit with mash.

TLDR: She's not great. Leaving comparison to her previous self aside, she is clunky to say the least. She's not as helpful in art teams anymore, and brings considerably less to the team. However, we know it won't stay like this. Don't give up on your kouhai. She may not be your husbando or waifu( or if she is for you..) She WILL get better. Just be patient everyone.
Edit: Blam(or don't. We don't have the full details as to why) Ghalahad. I thought knights knew well enough not to fuck someone over before buying them dinner first. He ghosted her, for some unexplainable reason.

Well...she turned like this because of the story and since the losbelt isn't finished yet she will gets buffed and i hope she will be even more better than she was in Camelot :)
To be fair, I kind of blame Galahad less since LB1, where it appears Mash actually made an almost complete physical recovery and at this point is mostly held back by self-doubts (which, honestly, I'm not a fan of, because it seems like a retcon of her struggles through arc 1.5 and LB prologue, but whatever). So if he knew she was going to be fine after he left, and that any setback she'd suffer would only be temporary, then fine, I can understand he'd leave to do whatever heroic spirits tend to do (presumably playing cards in the Throne of Heroes). Still would have been nice to give an advance notice.
Though if the Lostroom OVA is canon, and the 'explanations' he gave there are his true motives, then I'm back on the 'go screw yourself, Galahad' train.

They’re definitely playing the long game with her character. Once we get her NP5 and possible 5* upgrades she will be even better than she was before. I bet she’ll receive an upgrade from the upcoming Olympus LB judging by those leaks. And then when we return to Camelot in LB6 she’ll get her final upgrades and she will be OP as hell.
Think so too, i mean after Camelot she turned into the defensive support/tank par excellence short of Georgius
I predict that her 1st skill will get something like advantage over all classes or something for x turns
but... why? You want her to become the best servant in the game while she is one that everyone have... DW would either be way too kind or stupid if they do this
I mean its either that or be able to apply the buff to another servant. otherwise whats the point of her first skill she doesn't do enough damage for the skill to be of use so either the update to her skill is that it becomes more useful to her i.e. class advantage 2x damage or she can apply it to someone else.
Just got her today. Feels a lot like her pre-Camelot self, just waiting to get an upgrade, and maybe play a different kind of support role once she does. Probably by either earning Galahad's blessing back, or else getting to the point she doesn't need Galahad anymore, and becoming more of her own servant?
An upgraded NP from this one would probably give an equivalent to her old attack buff. I'd also expect her NP level to hit four before the new story is over.
Her first skill could either open up the option to target other servants, or else gain some additional effect that makes it more viable as a damage option?
I could see her second skill getting defensive class advantage against everything for a turn, or an arts buff if she's going to become more viable in an offensive role?
Third seems least likely to change, maybe loosing the demerit, or getting a small amount of NP charge?
In conclusion: She used to be a shielder but now she’s a “shielder”

Negative: *Story based character progression.* Mash still isn't a 5* and still isn't NP5. Here I am in NA with only the first lostbelt finished and JP still doesn't have her in her next form.

For Farming and Event Challenge quests you can still use the "old" Mash but in the main Story you can only use her new version

So what your saying is that she's accurate to how she feels in story right now? Weakened skills, a NP that's a shadow of it's former self, and a skill set that needs work because it feels like someone trying to fulfill a bunch of rolls because they are unaware of what to do now?

LB5 is in difficult situation for Chaldea. So, it would suit her to be upgraded.
But Camelot is the better choice since she has connection to there after all.

@@MadZwe1 I think it's more like Mash will power up in Olympus but it's in Camelot where her issues will truly be resolved and awaken 100% of her Saint Graph.
Considering Mash got a skill upgrade and NP upgrade on part 1, more exactly on camelot for both. If we take the leak as true, she might get a skill upgrade on Atlantis and maybe NP upgrade on camelot.

Well, my thoughts on it is that.....
In terms of story: It is perfectly reasonable why they change Mash skills and NP. I mean, we all know what happened with Galahad, so they do need to change Mash to reflect her current state right now. Although.....
In terms of gameplay: It is really sucks that we just lost a very op defender (one of a kind if I may add) and now we have more of a taunter/support Mash that is usable, albeit limited. Hope she gets some kind of upgrade during Lostbelts (the 'right' kind of upgrade)
Well unless you're using her in story you really don't have to be concerned about this Mash skillset.
@@numberhunter62 Considering you're basically forced to take her along in harder story stages because of her 0 cost or just have her locked in for some stages, yeah, it's a reason to be annoyed. Especially her first skill is plain stupid on Mash and basically worthless, they might as well have given her a normal defense buff without damage cut instead and made her much more useful.
well thats normal since galahad already left mash she cant use those abilities anymore and those skills are galahads skills anyway and i agree her previous skill is much useful and were the heck can you get a 3rd skill that has taunt and np gain that can give you full np gash even without a arts chain thats quite insane and a first skill that has damage cut and increase def and a targetable invi and np charge effect, now am just using her as a secondary tank against single target enemies and before i use defensive CEs but since she doesnt have her 1st anymore i use koliedo or any np startup CEs she needs to get her np out as soon as possible to give def support, overall not using her that much anymore aside from support mash
From my experience playing her, she's shit.
Why take one of the best defensive servants and make her a DPS Tank, with a Buster Crit buff as a second skill?! Not only that, she melts too damn easy that I'm sure Leonidas can tank much more than her.

I saw a leak post not confirmed yet of course, said that her ortenaus suit will get upgrade for LB 5.2. We just have to wait and hope ~

Ortenaus can be surprisingly good in certIn situations, specifically for the double taunt.
For instance, something Ive learned is that you can NP, taunt 2 turns in a row (prevent team from being hit) and NP again just before being hit.
Used this in Anastasia fight to survive her NP, since she has invul pierce.
But, in general content, Vanila Mash still way, way better.
DW should have make her Skill 1 targetable buff, instead self buff. It make more sense with her support build.

My guess is that they're hinting towards a non Galahad Mash, with a more offensive skill set. The problem is that she doesn't seem to be a proper team support so she doesn't even really have a real role.
I really liked the outfit, but the skills are bad, why a shielder needs a mana burst type skill? Why DW!!!!
Well she literally had a mana burst skill she inherited from Galahad before but it's mostly use for defensive purposes but using that mana burst as an offensive one it seems kinda off or they should just at least put something defensive on top of that mana burst skill.
I do love her new design (with the exception of the vr headset, which I think looks dumb), but yeah, Mash took a hard downgrade and my team that relies on her for survival is not doing well.
It hasn't even happened in the JP version of FGO yet, but god I can't wait for her to receive an upgrade... provided that she DOES.
I'm sure she will, but the next few lostbelts are gonna be rough on me...

From a story perspective it makes sense why Mash would get Nerfed since her old skills were from someone else(Galahad) to begin with so she has to get less less powerful skills but from a gameplay perspective i can see why this would make some player not use mash anymore considering she is one of if not the best defensive servant in the game but from what i've seen online people are treating Mash's new skills like you have to use them and you can't change back which you can so her old skills aren't gone forever and you're only really forced to used mash in her new outfit for story if Mash is actually in your party for story if she isn't you're not forced to bring her like how Musashi was for shimosa honesty if this was any other gacha game they would have just changed mash's skill to a newer version without a way to use the old ones
trust me, they would do it if they hadn't anticipated the sheer shitstorm they would have received from the fandom. that's literally the only reason you can still use old mashu.

I love Mash. For me it is the main component of my team. Unfortunately, I don't find the Buster version as great as I thought. I would have preferred that they just modernized their NP and enabled them to finally get to Bound LvL 10.
Lol even in JP I still use her old design more than her Lostbelt one unless story requirement to use Orteneus.

Well you guy can complain that her skill and np get nerf but for me she just doesn’t change since I don’t use her much if any at all(she just in the back so she can be safe)and she save my ass like 4 time in lostbelt 1,3,4(using her as the last dps or taunter)
I've had mash on my team since I got her and used her on every team(besides Solomon of course)... Now I have to change my story comp
Imagine Mash, but take away the best skill in the game alongside PFA or Hero Creation, give two taunts for some reason, take away the 400% np gain, take away the targetable invuln, nerf her np, and give her a buster crit skill despite having no other offensive self buffs, and no class advantage.

I know that they downgrade mash skill and noble phantasm because of the story progress (she's not using galahad power anymore). Hopefully mash can get an update in the future chapter of lostbelt,same like the progress from pre-camelot to post camelot in arc 1.
Well she still inherited something from Galahad that's why she still had a skill similar to him but lesser version and it kinda sucks when you need her fully defensive skills that always saves you whenever you're in a bad spot :(
Mash is just as clunky as that armor.

It's a downgrade gameplay wise but I'll still use her to beat up enemies with style because I am a sucker for animation and this is still Mash.

story is essentially the only time that content was dangerous enough to field her (and damn she was a GREAT core... I never expected to imprint on her, props to ludonarrative harmony inflicting real, actual despair, just like the gacha)
The three turn 30% atk buff which we got after camelot is gone. Her Support potential went from sky high, to one of the worst. I am not going to use her if I don't have to.
Thanks for making the video Kei, really appreciate it. But dang man, I was really hoping that you would say that Mash’s new skills were actually kind of good, because I really wanted to use the ortenaus outfit, it looks so cool.
The logic of turning her active Def skill (Described as a Mana Burst for Shielders) into a pure Saber style Mana Burst is dumb. I get she's weaker but outright that Mash shouldn't even be Shielder because those skills are terrible. Original Mash at least makes sense in any team comp.
She is apparently on life support and also crack because the buster+crit skill is bunk as hell on her and literally any other servant would die for it. It's better than every arturia's strongest steroid -_-
@@jakers141 So it's basically Fran's Overload skill just renamed and made a Mana Burst on a purely defensive servant. Also good going Fou, sacrifice your mind to give her a normal life but she's dying anyways.

I miss wall of snowflakes so much. Mecha Mash got bodied by Anastasia and the World tree.
The most important thing you missed is that :
1) Qin Shi Huang is out at the end of the year and sadly Obsoletes BOTH versions of our beloved and Best Kouhai.
2) She lost her NP loop capabilities with the loss of her Third Skill. She can no longer use back to back Overcharged Lord Camelots with her NPAA or NPQA while her Taunt is active (probably the main reason they never gave us NP5 Mash).
On my JP account, I've gotten most use out of her in fights where the Boss NP just flat out ignores defence, or causes that much damage, keeping the boss taunted is more valable to a defence buff due to the sheer damage they throw out. So she would have been silly in some of the Epic of Remnant fights, especially with The Cage equipped. I've run her alongside Kiritsugu for psuedo triple taunt and it strangely worked.
Because you will be plugging her in often, or throwing her in front of a boss NP, CEs that have an effect on entry or death are useful on heras well. Remember Mash is 0 cost so she does have that advantage over other Suicide taunts.
tl;dr is she is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. She goes from the best SR in the game (prove me wrong), to still a good SR. It's just the niche she is most useful in isn't something you need all the time, and not for every boss fight or CQ either. And she's still only useful as a backline CE holder while farming as well.
1: Is that Mothman? If so, he's still limited while literally everyone has Mash.
2: R.I.P BIG D(efense) NP Gain skill.
Her design is OK, the reason for her downgrades is understandable cuz Galahad is a dick, but ffs her gameplay is very limited and rough unless she’s your DPS, which doesn’t work like that cuz she still deal neutral damage and her first skill is trash, probably be better if it was targetable and was a three turn deal instead of a three time uses, in which she has TWO BUSTER CARDS. I get DW had to make her weaker cuz Galahad left her but ffs at least give her a better first skill and make the second one have a damage cut to minimize the damage if she’s suppose to be a taunt servant with support and can tank the hits with relative ease. Hope she gets the upgrade in Lostbelt Camelot or LSB 5.2 cuz damn DW massacred Mash skills

This is just terrible game design. The big problem is that there's no other servant that could fill Mash's previous role as a defensive support servant. And that's BY DESIGN. It was very intentional to make Mash a defensive support servant with low cost since that makes her very useful to most players and therefore most players are probably going to continue to put her on their team, especially during boss fights. The developers were counting on this so that way when the big moment in Solomon happens and you can't use Mash you feel that lost. So to come out and take the only def support servant out of the game is a slap in the face to players who have been relying on her skills.
People who are saying that we should wait and be patient since Mash got a buff in the Camelot arc are just plain wrong. Even before Camelot Mash was an incredibly useful servant, she still had her defense all skill, her invincibility skill and NP increase skill. The Camelot buff simply took an already useful servant and made them even better. Now however I would argue that her Ortenaus form is practically useless, you will almost ALWAYS be better taking Mash Ortenaus out of your party and putting in a different servant (even a 3 or lower servant). And until we know exactly what buff they're going to give her I'm going to continue to doubt.
Finally the story excuse. The story can shut the heck up because it's more than happy ignoring gameplay when it suits itself. The story can't even make up it's mind weather or not our main character can summon shadow servants or if he's summoning actual servants. Not to mention I distinctly remember Sasaki somehow going toe to toe with Musashi by himself and let's be real, even at max grail lv 100 Musashi would kick the crap out of Sasaki easily. So let's not pretend that the gameplay and story are now suddenly bound together.
Lostbelt 2 you're forced to Mash
Y'all hating but double taunt is super duper strong. There have been instances in events where i've swapped mash to Ortenaus when i could've used her normal form because of how powerful it is. It's all fun and games until you face a boss that can one-shot you past defense buffs. *buster crits me for 20k past Mash's defense buff* oh nahhhhh

Galahad is no longer lending a helping hand to Mash, and Da Vinci kinda told her that she would have to find her own way of fighting or something like that in LB1. Her new skillset is the result of Mash trying to make up for the loss of defensive resources after Galahad left. Since the only "defensive" power that she can (barely) use now is Mold Camelot (and that consumes a lot of energy) Mash makes an extra effort to compensate for the lack of barriers by becoming a barrier herself.
Her first skill feels unorthodox gameplay-wise, but i think that in battles it makes sense. Besides being the guard of the team, now she also tries to play the role of a breacher (like when you go Triple Buster card with the intention of dropping a health bar in that turn), adding even more damage to the all-out offensives.
Honestly, I love her Ortanaus design, but I prefer Post-Camelot skillset (well, gameplay-wise). If I can do, I would set her sprite to be Ortenaus version and her skills and NP to be Post-Camelot one.

Mash is weaker cause she is now like her own version of a servant n not sorta like a copy of Galahad be4 . And (spoiler warning) Sinon is supposed to add a god slaying thing in her shield . And who knws , maybe in lb6 true Camelot she will fight Galahad n get stronger . Btw hoping for Galahad alter in the upcoming collab in jp xD
i just started LB1, i think mash might end up being a taunt servant. anyone know if its a good idea to give her CEs that buff HP? threefold barrier and open fight with a taunt? before awakening for 8% defense?
or ideal holy king/millennium tree for HP?
I personally hate Using ortenaus mashu because she lost all her defense on demand which is why she was so good post camelot and even on JP I still use mashu but I allways use her pre lostbelt form for the defense or NP charge on anyone I want
I know my Mash has been a Dragon Slayer before but... it's because she's a defense goddess, she can withstand anything! The Ortenaus armor is a downgrade for her, but storywise it makes sense that its a downgrade. But like, unless forced, who's really gonna use it?

Mash is a nightmare on the Olympus lost belt because you're forced to have her in the frontline, sometimes she and another NPC, specially for the Zeus fight where you can't use a command to send her to the backline. At least before she was goddamn useful and a very decent support, lots of defensive stuff, etc. Now she is so useless, her damage is neglegible even with the new buffs on her buster and her support is meh to say the least.
But still, we can use her normal form Right Because of her I Beat so much CQ and some point She becomes someone Fix CQ team member for me when I don't wanna deal with Boss Rush CQ with too much in if I failed 3 5 times because I didn't wanna use my Ultimate combo on them :D
Poor Mash. Definitely didn’t deserve to be powered down like this. Story reasons made enough sense, but it still is too bad.
Takes her from a cheap and yet good character to one you may still use but just bury on the back line. Just a rough spot for her. Not utterly unusable but less tempting to use in story sequences where this form is mandatory. Will be years before we can hope for her to make a comeback.
I think the offensive skill represent the clunky nature of the Ortinax armor that replaces part of her skills and powers. It's essentially a power armor damage boost. That said the Lostbelt content is easier than Epic of Remnant (the powercreep of some servants also helps a lot), so the downgrade doesn't impact too much the overall experience. It's wort notice however that some players appreciate her as a pure taunter for challenging content but i guess it's a matter of preference. Personally i prefer to complete challenging content with most of the team still standing, so i'll always field her in the original form.
She is only good at tanking for, at most, two turns. Mold Camelot is garbage. Her NP gain isn't even close to what she had available before. Why did they do our girl dirty like this?!
Bullshit that they got rid of her main defensive skill, could've accepted general nerfing, but just why would you ever give the sole shielder an offensive boost? That said lover her new combat animation, hate that it's locked to that skill set, but credit where credit is due.
I'm pretty fine with this Mash. Think about it. Although we're forced to use her in story, we can choose whatever Mash we want in events. This means that we were basically given a free new servant (Even though it sucks.)

In my opinion, DW turn tanky into damage dealer is good because her 1st skill is proved for damage. But due to her np gain is meh and double taunt skill and np charge is not to much make she can't be loop np quickly.
Yeah she's not as good and the sixth lostbelt is Camelot.....wait besides the obvious things like Mash probably getting new skills like last time but what if Galahad comes back as the second Shielder servant.
I mean, the Lord Camelot to Mold Camelot isn't half bad. It's worse, but you still get the DMG Cut and Defense Up, which was what really mattered.
The only good thing about this Mashu is her design and animations but that doens't save her performance. Other good way is that in the lostbelts story chapters she gives 20% bond points for everyone. I'm going to try that buster Merlin combo
Only reason I will be using her new skin is because it is locked during main story 😑😑😑 thanks to that I had super hard time with the tree of emptiness. I had to resort to turning Semiramis to an NP spamming servant for that added defense hmph
if youre worrying about Mash's Skillset. remember that Achilles also has almost the same skillset as LB Mash. only Buster and Quick Boost are their difference

She still cost zero, which is her best feature cuz you're not always gonna be running a defensive team. I run her all the time in my offensive boss fight team cuz she is still decent and cost zero so I can use any Servant and CE I want.
Storywise She's supposed to be worse version of her original self.
No longer does she have her heroic spirit...but for some reason they gave her skills for attacking.
Doesn't fit with her kit at all.
Skills definitely took a downgrade but it really does make sense story-wise. She also still functions pretty well as a tank off-support, her NP and second and third skills are definitely still respectable.
Well, to be honest I doesn't like her new skill set but her first skill make me able to destroy the pillar without using command spell
Just curious, for those who play JP. How is the Bunker Bolt skill upgrade for Mash? Does it make her attack any better?
She's still a 0 cost taunter, so I'm using her in almost every battle. Even if she's a downgrade from normal Mash, she's the only servant in the game with 0 cost.
Dev is just complying to our request. We've been saying the game is just tad bit too easy so they implement break bar and change one of the best defensive skill in the game so that it wouldn't be too easy anymore. Lol
For non story quests you can just switch back to her pre ortenaus form... I never used her for story quests anyways, I basically just use her to hold a free CE.
The worst part is not that she got nerfed. It's that we're forced to take her less useful forms on a lot of main quests, blocking a spot for more useful servants... Or even her without the VR costume
Take away the best skill she has, nerf the np, and force me to use her for difficult fights, Force me to use her for all lostbelts to some degree, DW LB3 doesnt work like that
According to the LB5.2 leak she'll be getting another upgrade but always gotta remember GoS

I mean I get they needed to nerf mash a bit for the story because lord Camelot blocked an attack that literally would have erased all of human history but the really messed up her kit now. At least we can always just change her skin back and still use her good skill set.

In situations where you have to use her it's better to practice using her and find which teams and ces are going to let her spam her np as much as possible where if done and timed correctly and best options for her realistically with supports are...
Leonidas due to his taunts, guts, but also has a party buster buff for her to use.
Merlin again not only for buster buffs but also increasing her hp to tank more damage for the team with her taunts, and merlins invincibility covers that lack of invincible on her 2nd skill and his first skill is 2percent np gain so mash will have 40 percent np charged in one turn.
Waiver due to 50% np gain from his skills, attack, defense and crit buffs help mash more and his np will help in stalling if you need mash to put out more defense buffs.
Summer Salter/Saber Alter 2nd skill helps in lower cool downs by 1 but be mindful of hp loss.
Medea lily and irisviel cause every team needs a white mage who can heal or provide guts to all.
One thing I always feel people's reviews lack for the servants is also considering mystic codes that work with servants. Any mystic code thay gives mash evade or invincible for her 2nd skill helps, the mystic code that can lower skill cool downs by 2 is helpful and put it together with summer salter and it's a cool down lowered by 3.
This is all I got and this is without the from what I seen in jp adding mystic codes to your servant command cards for boost or effect damage.
You also forgot to mention that if mash has one benefit in this form it's her ability to boost the bond points with your servants during lost belt missions and with how bond points are so high especially once we unlock 5 more levels for the max bonded ones she's gonna be needed with those other bond point boosts.
