When I was stationed in Germany, my wife and I used to play "Crystal Bingo" at the post NCO club. The prizes were crystal glass objects. I highly suspect they're giving away meat as prizes. Kinda ironic, needing to go hiking so you can get some rest. Some people are not comfortable within their own minds and need the continual stimulation of others to be able to function. Obviously, you're not one of those people. You seem to be functioning or even thriving on your own. You've done some tramily hiking and I think you've found what suits you best. That's not to say that finding a group to hike with for a week or so wouldn't be good, because variety is often a good thing. Keep on keepin' on, Mosey!

I was just at Thistle Hill Monday night. Trails in the area were very walkable despite the hills. Lots of old fields with apple trees.
