Thank you very much for such a detailed tutorial. I made my very first mask tonight without any difficulties, turned out really well. Thanks again for your instructions.
The first adult mask I made was too small (probably because the printer didn’t print to scale). I enlarged the pattern and got great results to fit our bigger faces and instead of ponytail holders I attached some bias tape ties (TH-cam tutorials) that I folded and reinforced. I like the ties better because they don’t hurt my ears.
Shelia Ervin I measured my face and increased the size of the pattern by about an inch and a half mostly lengthwise (added about an inch and a half to the chin) and a little bit to the sides so the proportions were basically the same. What I ended up with is sort of a one size fits all that actually fits my kids as well because the ties make it adjustable.
Just a suggestion, I haven't gotten to see one yet, but it looks as if right before you sew and reinforce the edges, you may be able to place a wire inside to help with the nose seal. Love your design!!!!
I did. It is not super neat, but not horrible. I put the wire in after I turned it right side out and sewed around it to hold it in place, top stitched up to that area, then skipped to the other side of the wire and started top stitching again. Seems to work well.
I just made my first one. It's very comfortable and fits me nicely. It was easy to sew and your instructions are excellent. I have a tip I learned from another maker and that is if you make the elastic a little longer you can put the ends through a craft bead and this will make the elastic adjustable. The bead part stays outside behind your ears and you slide the bead back and forth to loosen or tighten. Thank you so much for this tutorial and free pattern.
This is the 3rd mask I made today and by far the best design. I modified mine by using a continuous fabric strap instead of elastic (for longevity) and it looks great!! I am by no means a professional seamstress but this looks like I am haha! Thank you.
I want to switch to a fabric straps for tying also because the elastic has to be tied at the right length for each person, so I think ties are more adjustable. But that means making a lot of bias tape.
I modified a similar pattern for my own use. I made the filter pocket opening on the bottom, it's a bigger opening, easier to insert your filter of choice. The tension when you wear it keeps the opening closed. I'm using pieces of blue paper shop towels for the filter. In lieu of elastic for ears, I'm using a shoe string and cinch lock, but could use a length of crochet chain.
@@karenerc1529 I cut the blue shop towel to size and insert 2 pieces into the mask pocket. For the size mask I make, I can get 6 pieces out of a sheet.

Great work Daisy! This is probably the best construction guide I’ve seen using ponytail holders. I love the way you finished the edges and left the opening for HEPA filtration material. 1/4” elastic bands are the new toilet paper in terms of local availability lol.
I saw that bungie straps are full of small elastic bands, and in the one I opened up (which was not an easy task) there were many but each one was very small in diameter or width. Don't look strong enough.
I'm using up an old fitted sheet for elastic. The elastic was fully encased, most have elastic surged into the seams. This won't work for cheaper or newer sheets probably.
paracord, cut a headband and sew each end to the mask, thin headbands, use your imagination, I've seen masks attached to a headband by a button so it doesn't dig into your ear

@@katrinmehler5087 I think you could easily sew an extra seam about 1/2 inch from the top edge, leaving end open. I'd also fold the ends of the pipe cleaner in so they don't poke through.
Not that I've seen them all, but this is one of the best tutorials Ive seen to make DIY face masks. Very thorough & straight to the point no extra stuff and my mask turned out just like the example! I had to draw my own mask template, but the directions for that are easy to follow also.

Thank you. This turned out great and allowed me to add a pulley like cord to use instead of elastic. Exactly what I was looking for and it was simple to bring together.
@@ellenmcmillian2225 I used the pattern available here and then just cut a cord 42" long and used it inplace of the elastic. Same casing and everything.
I just made two of these. They fit great. The medium fit both me and my husband. This was an easy assembly. The interfacing gives it some rigidity to fit your face. My first one was made with 100% denim (for the outside) from my son's old jeans. It still wasn't to rigid with the interfacing. Thanks so much for this pattern.
Best tutorial I have seen so far and I have looked at about 10 of them. Looks like a very nice mask that provides good protection. Now I just wish you could make me one :) Nice job !
Thanks Daisy. I’m a really out of practice seamstress and was looking for a mask that’s fitted and has a filter pocket. I have no elastic on hand and a lot of ponytail holders so that’s another plus that your mask calls for that. Just need the fusing which a friend is going to leave out on her doorstep for me. I’m excited to try this to make for my family, extended family and friends.

Thank you! And thank you for sharing the PDF's for kids and adults! This style of mask (that hugs the face) with filter pocket was what I was looking for!! 🤗😊❤️ Great video!
Thank you very much Daisy. Your video was clear and easy to follow. And thank you for the templates. I found I had to copy them at 105% after I printed them to make the squares an inch.
One of the only videos I found in this pattern with actual sizes. I am using my phone, so to connect to my printer or pull out my laptop (2012 version) would take forever to print out a template. I want a few masks just in case. 😃👍
I've seen in other video comments that health care professionals warn against using fusible interfacing because of the glue being considered to have harmful chemicals. I use craft felt instead as the filter to make mine. I hope that helps.
Noelia MacLaird I’ll be using felt as my filter as well. When using it will I need to still make double layers of the fabric like the interfacing with fabric?
@@alyssao4741 I saw this video a while back and got the idea to use craft felt in the personal masks I made. This was before the newer versions started being shared. th-cam.com/video/I2bZTaKtcQM/w-d-xo.html
I read that too about the glue. Also all those layers might not be very breathable! Pellon recommends light to medium weight sew-in interfacing. I think you could also make the sew-in interfacing as a separate mask (without the seam allowances around the sides) if you want to insert it in the fabric mask but not actually have it sewn into it.
@@joycelayton7353 I haven't used mine yet, but it's recommended that you hand wash and lay it out to dry. You could try using a hair dryer to speed up the process or use the lowest heat setting on your drying machine.
Kathryn Hughes you just use the same pattern for the filter, because you will be in the of the main fabric, and one the the lining fabric. It has to have the same pattern
I think melt blown filter fabric is a better alternative to the interface fabric. I would think the glue used to bond the fabric would prevent air from being drawn in through the mask and instead draw air in through the sides...path of lease resistance. Just my take
THANK YOU for sharing this. I live here in NY and as you know, our death rate is climbing out of control. I was looking for masks that I can make for my family but everything here is either closed or sold out of supplies. One thing I do have on hand are pony tail holders so I can now attempt to make these.
Try www.filti.com. They have nonwoven fabric specifically for face masks. I ordered earlier today. It would take a bit for it to arrive but at least it's something on the way. Blessings to you and all in New York, you have it rough.
The face Mask is design very beautiful pattern and that's very nice you are giving it away for free. God bless you as you continue to be a Blessings to others. It is better to give than to received. God bless you and keep up the good work.
I went to three Walmarts today trying to get materials. The first 2 had shut down the crafts section, and the managers refused to cut fabric even when I explained what I wanted it for. It's really insane to shut down the only place where you could get materials, after the CDC recommended people at least wear homemade masks. That section requires a single employee. Then need to reopen the craft stores. I would consider them essential businesses.
Thank you so for this pattern! One question, though: could I use another material such as felt to replace the interfacing (since I don’t have any)? Or would it be okay to simply use no interfacing but use a good filter to insert into the pocket?

Not that I've seen them all, but this is one of the best tutorials Ive seen to make DIY face masks. Very thorough & straight to the point no extra stuff and my mask turned out just like the example! I had to draw my own mask template, but the directions for that are easy to follow also.
Great tutorial! Will be using this pattern to sew some masks for my family. Thank you so much for your clear directions!
Best tutorial I have seen so far and would like to get a Pattern. Great workmanship Daisy.
You can also use elastic waist band from old underwear if can't get elastic otherwise.
thanks for the tip!
you can also use hair ties, large rubber bands and strips cut from t-shirts...
Just change the pattern a bit and use FABRIC instead of elastic. Fabric will hold better anyway, and last longer.
you can cut apart old bungee cords. they are full of excellent elastic material.
or the elastic from a fitted bed sheet :)
I'm so happy for this video, pattern works well for sewing novice. I was able to make some for my hospital. Thanks so much. When you need something quick and easy to help others.
Thank you. This turned out great and allowed me to add a pulley like cord to use instead of elastic. Exactly what I was looking for and it was simple to bring together.
do you have a pattern
@@ellenmcmillian2225 I used the pattern available here and then just cut a cord 42" long and used it inplace of the elastic. Same casing and everything.
@@shelleygarretson6036 Thx!!!❤
I just made two of these. They fit great. The medium fit both me and my husband. This was an easy assembly. The interfacing gives it some rigidity to fit your face. My first one was made with 100% denim (for the outside) from my son's old jeans. It still wasn't to rigid with the interfacing. Thanks so much for this pattern.
Best tutorial I have seen so far and I have looked at about 10 of them. Looks like a very nice mask that provides good protection. Now I just wish you could make me one :) Nice job !
Thank you ! I'm only doing your way. I'm asthmatic and the way this one is not touching my nose or my mouth is the best for me .
Ledge Edge was this mask breathable?

George Costarica Best masks for people with allergies. These are washable and reusable. Filter out more than 90% of particles by itself. Adding extra insert will filter out 99% and is antiviral and antimicrobial. If only need protection from pollens, no need to use the insert. Antibacterial and antiviral masks made of nano copper infused fabric, washable and reusable. Have scientific studies to show that the masks are still effective after at least 30 washes.

Best mask tutorial! Thank you for using ponytail holders!!!
Thank you! And thank you for sharing the PDF's for kids and adults! This style of mask (that hugs the face) with filter pocket was what I was looking for!! 🤗😊❤️ Great video!
Dani 78 are the PDF print outs actual size?
Yaya save it first in your desktop or files and then you print it from your files. Make sure to check with the ruler after your print it
Adriana Adorro hi, can you tell where this face mask pattern is located? I don’t see it anywhere
I can't find pdf pattern
It's in the video description 🤗
You are the best in all those masks maker’s you helped me to make my mask easy and beautiful I love it 🙏🏾👍🏾💕❤️
This is the best I've seen! Great job
Thank you very much Daisy. Your video was clear and easy to follow. And thank you for the templates. I found I had to copy them at 105% after I printed them to make the squares an inch.
Love this video. Exactly what I need for our “essential” office workers. Thank you, and stay healthy everyone. ❤️
Great job
Daisy Multifacetica, very fashionable face masks using a sewing machine, follow if you want to use household items without sewing
One of the only videos I found in this pattern with actual sizes. I am using my phone, so to connect to my printer or pull out my laptop (2012 version) would take forever to print out a template. I want a few masks just in case. 😃👍
Hi daisy. Its really interesting. Nice mask..thx
Wow beautiful, made quite a few already. Thank you so much 💕
Thank you for the tutorial , and the pattern .It fits perfectly and comfortable .
These are amazing! I just made my first of many more and it came out perfect! Thank you so much!
Thank you for your contribution to healthcare. As a nurse I will be following your pattern.😘
Love this tutorial thanks so much! And thanks much for the pattern.
how do you get pattern for masks??
Great video!!! Thank you so much for your clear but quick instructions. I was able to follow with no issues. The best face mask video I’ve seen!
Great job!! You made it so easy to make.
Perfect fit! I used paper clips instead of pins/clips because that’s what I had in hand and it worked perfectly!
@@alyssao4741 that is how I did mine. 😊
Hands down the best mask! Thank you for showing us!!!
best vdo on youtube easy to understand 5 star work!! i did 3 today i like your panttern it look cool
One of the best tutorial! My mask turned out GREAT after following the steps. Thank You!
Thank you! Couple questions, if you don’t mind: (1) who says the the fusible webbing filters? (2) is this (machine) washable?
Thank you for posting this video. I’ve been looking for a pattern with this style and this is the first video that actually gives a FREE pattern.
where is the pattern???
You can easily add a nose wire with a top stitch about 1/2 in or so then just thread the wire through. I used mesh layer to hold my filter.
Did you make a template for the filter?
Where do you get a nose wire?
AMC I got mine at . 99 cent store, you can buy copper wire at tool store as well
Kathryn Hughes you just use the same pattern for the filter, because you will be in the of the main fabric, and one the the lining fabric. It has to have the same pattern
Greetings from India. Thanks this is the best tutorial i found on you tube.God Bless!
I think melt blown filter fabric is a better alternative to the interface fabric. I would think the glue used to bond the fabric would prevent air from being drawn in through the mask and instead draw air in through the sides...path of lease resistance. Just my take
I've made over 200 masks...this one is great 💖
THANK YOU for sharing this. I live here in NY and as you know, our death rate is climbing out of control. I was looking for masks that I can make for my family but everything here is either closed or sold out of supplies. One thing I do have on hand are pony tail holders so I can now attempt to make these.
Bandana. There are videos on this.
Try www.filti.com. They have nonwoven fabric specifically for face masks. I ordered earlier today. It would take a bit for it to arrive but at least it's something on the way. Blessings to you and all in New York, you have it rough.
Your instructions are very good. Made it very easy to follow. Thank you so much. God bless to everyone & please stay safe.
Thank you so much, this is the best one. It looks so professional.
Brenda Thompson check out much channel for a no sew easy face mask
The face Mask is design very beautiful pattern and that's very nice you are giving it away for free. God bless you as you continue to be a Blessings to others. It is better to give than to received. God bless you and keep up the good work.
🌟✨🌟 Can’t wait until this pandemic is over so that Walmart and Hobby Lobby will open back up so I can get what I need. 😳
Walmart is open and you can have it delivered
Theresa Pace you’re awesome. Thanks.
I just ordered the materials that I needed off of Walmart for store pick up and the Hobby Lobby here just got shut down Thursday
lol
I went to three Walmarts today trying to get materials. The first 2 had shut down the crafts section, and the managers refused to cut fabric even when I explained what I wanted it for. It's really insane to shut down the only place where you could get materials, after the CDC recommended people at least wear homemade masks. That section requires a single employee. Then need to reopen the craft stores. I would consider them essential businesses.
Thanks Daisy! My first mask came out great and I will use this pattern/video to make more for family and friends.
Hi Daisy, which one from your pattern is similar to this video? Is that pattern you are using 6 inches?
Is this one 😉 drive.google.com/file/d/16un2-9q53tvuvdc1fALnyzGA5cejLkea/view?usp=drivesdk
Thank you so much for sharing and teaching us how to make masks and protect ourselves and the the rest of the public.
Hi Daisy, how do I down load the pattern ?
My masks turned out great. Thanks for the patterns.
The instructions show you how to enlarge.
Thank you so for this pattern! One question, though: could I use another material such as felt to replace the interfacing (since I don’t have any)? Or would it be okay to simply use no interfacing but use a good filter to insert into the pocket?
I made a mask using your pattern and I love the fit. Thankyou very much!
Thank you!
Wow! Great learning experience. Appreciate your teaching on how to create the pattern for this mask and consideration for those who are unable to print the free PDF. I am so blessed to have graph paper at home. I am inspired by your generosity and time to educate and keep us safe and well. Going to draw your pattern and sort through my fat quarters. Once again, thank you very much for a superb sharing. Blessings and stay well and safe. 👌💐
Hi
Love the pattern. Wish I’d found it before I did 130 pleated ones. Lol
Can you tell me how to altar the pattern to compensate for my sons beard please.
TY so much for posting this pattern.
Stay safe y’all✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
