He didn't have the musical talent to be a megastar. He couldn't write songs on the level of his contemporaries. But that doesn't change the fact that he's an amazing human being who still rules our hearts❤
@@bryanmack7463 Correction: Marilyn did have the talent. But what he didn't have was the backing of an entire record company the way Culture Club, and to a lesser extent Dead Or Alive did. This is the difference. Those record companies supplied everything, including ghost writers, production talent, wardrobe, video budgets, everything. Marilyn basically did everything on his own. And with an extremely small budget. The fact that he got as far as he did on his own shows what a talent he is, especially since we are still discussing him 30 years later. He never really had a chance when his record company didn't believe in him enough to invest some serious capitol and talent to develop him more. Dead Or Alive went through a similar thing, as Pete Burns publicly stated. Although their record company did invest more into them, which is why they had more success than Marilyn, but not as much as Culture Club. Unlike today with TH-cam and viral TikTok videos, in the 80's, a good record company was the difference between making it big or not much at all. And Marilyn was a casualty of that.

Yes, you’re right he was very good looking…but the fact he feminized his appearance meant that his masculine good looks were rather overshadowed by all the makeup, hairdo, clothes etc

Was really bummed when he got beat up in a bar Apparently he was in a bar in Sydney when a bloke asked him for an autograph and Marilyn said no, so the bloke laughed it off and asked again and again Marilyn said no, so all offended the bloke punched him to the ground. He left Australia soon after that, with a black eye. I remember my sister and I feeling awful about it.
no ... Marilyn was being a bit obnoxious and someone threw some of his drink at him and Marilyn tried to kick him, twice, but missed and Leslie jumped forward and punched him out that was in the Exchange Hotel
