LED lights are so efficient that they can pick up a ghost voltage from wires that are simply laying across each other so if you have a plug that is running in the same conduit as a switch light that can often give just enough voltage to the light circuit to power the light.
That’s interesting, would it still do that when you run multiple circuits through one pipe? Let’s use 3/4 emt and 12g wires as an example. If I run three circuits and only energize one, would it give either of the other two circuits enough power to turn on? And would it be just for a second or would it stay on for awhile? Please lmk I’m really intrigued
@@jakemcternan3800 I'm not an electrician but I was explained to me by an electrician once they often prefer to run a separate conduit for led circuits because they are so sensitive. Something to do with the magnetic field or something like that it's just enough power to power the light. In this case it could be the power is coming in and running to the switch in the same conduit and is also running off to the other lights there for give me enough magnetic field of power to the other lights I believe is how it works. Sometimes they run shielded wiring inside of conduits if one conduit is the only option but in this situation I believe he's planning on putting motion sensors on each individual light so solving the actual problem won't be that big of a deal
James, is the guy every friend group should have! 😎 I think it’s cool af that he lets you get your yaya’s out on his toys! You picked a great neighborhood! Love the lights. Can’t wait to see what else you’ve done in the last 2yrs. Love your content!
You really do quality work. You don’t cut corners and that driveway will last a lifetime. Great work, nice to see a quality contractor promoting doing it the right way. You pay for what you get. Skilled labor isn’t cheap.
As an electrician I thank you for having the electrical piping and wiring done correctly, I walk through restaurants, stores and malls and stuff and see a lot of things done wrong like loose couplings and kinked/ awkward bends, but I’m glad to see that you did it right
Didn’t even notice the video was longer! You did right with your four legged crew giving them light! Lost 2 Ryan no more please because you are the PROTECTOR!
There is 1 of 2 things going on here from what i can tell. My first assumption is a neutral that has voltage present and is not being bonded to ground at the breaker panel, usually a loose connection in a junction box. 2nd thought would be, make sure your switching the hot leg and not the neutral.
The lights glowing could be a couple of different issues. First thing is check the switch leg(wire that feeds the lights) to ground for voltage at the switch(switch needs to be off). 2.Check your neutral and ground conductor connections. You may be experiencing some sort of bonding/grounding issue. 3. You may also be inducing a small current somewhere by a "constant hot" wire running alongside your lighting circuit. 4. Hire a real electrician, or befriend one. Love the ranch projects.
He has a buddy who’s an actual electrician, he’s been in a couple of videos if you’ve been with the channel for a while. The dude is like 6’7” or something like that. 😂
Ryno - You should look into the new Joying radios with android 10. They are miles ahead of these older android 8 units and now even have an optical and coax output to run into a DSP. I also recommend installing some heat sinks and cooling fans to them if thats a route you ever go, really helped keep mine run cooler and smoother.
Nice intro! You put extra work on this one! Love it! For lights, check switches. Might be letting just enough power "bleed through" to turn them on as they are doing. Shut breaker, remove wires from switch and isolate hot wires. Turn breaker on and see if they stay off. If so its the switch.
Hear me out here, the lights are great idea buttt what about a livestock guardian dog? Or LGD as they are called around here. You will never have another issue with any coyotes again and they can be out any time of day watching the herd 24/7
You have to be probably one of the only or the only automotive channel to be sponsored by one of the bigger pew pew companies. And being in Cali I think thats awesome protect our 2A rights
I just saw a reminder video for the goat issue Donkeys are exellent protectors of goats sheep ect need to be in the same pasture and are widely used in texas for heard protection this is something you can research and see if you can do it on your land good luck hope willy and his buds can help
if im correct at tractor supply theres floaters that are basically automatic when the bucket fills with water it stops for the animals my grandpa has it for his ranch
An idea for the head unit, since I know you love keeping the plastic on: just cut the plastic to the edge of the unit with an X-acto or razor blade. Wish I could take James' "toys" for a spin. Looks a hell of a lot more fun to use than the lift equipment at work. 😁
Did you take into consideration the thickness of the concrete at your tie-in point at the road? Your rock subgrade should be the thickness of the concrete lower than the edge of the road.
Some LEDs stay illuminated after being turned off due to residual energy still stored in the power lines after the switch. It happens a lot when installed for vehicle applications. Since they use such a low voltage they can illuminate with the residual power in the lines. Eventually they’ll shut off.
i dont really care about the car stuff but i like the farm stuff ^^ i found the channel from the fire videos so i didnt know that this channel is about cars i guess? still watching ^^
It could also be the switch like you said if you remove the switch and cap off the hot wire and turn the breaker back on and the lights do not eliminate with a dim glow then you know there is a small amount of voltage making it through the switch. But like you said you're putting motion detectors on them so it might be a mute point to try and fix it but it would be nice to figure it out
For coyotes we usually get scrap meat (guts) from a butcher seal it inside several trash bags one inside the other and let it sit in the sun for a few days. After it is good and rancid open it up away from your house at night and let the smell draw them in. They won't be able to resist it. For the lights are you running them 120v or 240v? If 240v you need a 2 pole switch or leds will do that.
@DMAXRYNO I have a question for you I’m the owner of zgc supply and I was wondering how hard is it to make the work for it usa style work for it decals
Gonna sound dumb, but put a radio out in their area turned on. We do that in our barn and it keeps unwanted guests away. The predators think it's people and won't venture in. Hated to hear about honey, a loss of a loved one is hard whether it's 2 legged or 4 legged
Top of the water tank would be a nice platform to shoot coyotes from. Coyotes ate our barn cats. Ever since the fur market collapsed and no one hunts them anymore they have become quite bold and are continually coming onto the property.
those water troughs the animals are using can get some slime built up in the heat may want to clean them out every once in a while if you don't already

I'd imagine it's from the fires, scared a lot of the prey away so the goats are the next best thing.

The led lights in my bedroom have the same problem they take forever to turn completely off. In my case its old wiring and old light fixtures.
Make sure you check your neutral wire that it is properly bonded at the panel. Having a poor neutral bond can cause what your seeing.
Sheers would work nice to!

Do the lights happen to have a night light to them ?
How you feel about glaziers ??
looks like you have some induced voltage from another circuit separate conduit will fix that
If you’re using a dimmer switch they can have a couple volts running through the switch even though it’s off.
Bro, fly me out there, I'll hunt them Coyotes for you, and stand guard for a couple nights and take em out when they come out of hiding
Customer truck with Texas plates? Sweet!

Those lights I’ve taken and put 6 in a 60x80 barn and it lights the whole thing up like nothing
Lights look awesome. Now you need a couple snipers for the coyotes. What brand was the flood lights? Might work for my chicken coop
What low voltage disconnect do you use
Use a 2 pole switch you might be getting some type of voltage coming back on the neutral
