    The MPC effect just adds dirt and noise. The actual quality of the S2400 converters give the grit and punch you want without the simulated garbage from an effect. Even though I own an MPC X SE, Im getting the S2400 for the sound and sonic quality it delivers. Great comparison video! Salute!

    I found if you use the regular SP 1200 engine on the MPC together with the Air Lofi plug in at 26.2 kHz you'll get more of that classic SP aliasing and crunch we all look for. It comes about the closest but nothing beats that classic SP 1200 grusty sound as Kirk State calls it.

    I think a common oversight of "lofi" effects that are applied to signals afterwards is that they are usually "static", so they affect every note or pitch of the sample equally. On the the SP1200 and S2400 in contrast, the signal deteriotes depending on the pitch, so on a one shot sample bassline, every note will have a slightly different amount of "crunch" to it. I think this adds a lot to the classic 12 bit sound, and it is hard to nail with post processing plugins.

    SP2400 definitely sounds more authentic

    SP Mode in MPC is just a regular Decimator plugin with hardwired settings - they can be unlocked though

      @@vubeatz here's an idea - i'll send you unlocked SP Mode in the evening and you can compare it against decimator / ISLA

      @@dagss how does one go about unlocking SP Mode on the MPC One?

    • @dagss

      @@Ru5hMusic it's unlocked already - AKAI just sculpted the sound to their liking and then blatantly removed the knobs from GUI. All you have to do is to add them back on.

    With the air lo-fi they're so similar I don't think anyone not knowing would ever notice. ( I'm in a studio listening on ADAM A7X's with a sub )
    We are also, of course, listening to sound of youtube though.

    It’s surprising how well the MPC holds together for tubing it down an octave. You hardly hear aliasing. Sometimes good, sometimes bad to have that ability.

    Were you using the bit depth / audio engine settings on the s2400? It didn't sound like it, adds a very authentic sp1200 ring mod like quality.

    Quick question: Could you use the SP 1200 "ring" vintage effect and the Air Lo-Fi together, or do you have to chose one or the other? Also, unless you had the volume a little higher on the Isla S2400 than you did on the MPC, it seems like everytime you tapped the pad on the Isla, it seemed way more puncher and thicker. What do you think? Please share your results with us. Thank you.

    • @vubeatz
      @vubeatz  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use both of them but for ring ins overdo alone. I recorded every sample from the same source and volume, I tried to match but funny thing. In first sample there is no much difference in volume but in drums - Isla is clearly louder. I leave and don’t manipulate because it’s interesting :)
