- Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had a tricky question to field at a BSE event on May 15 where a broker raised concerns over high taxes imposed on stock market brokers and real estate transactions. Labelling the government as a 'sleeping partner', the broker said the Centre was making more money than his community from various taxes such as CGST, STT, long-term capital gains tax.

Government tax take more i.e. indirect tax GST on everything also. Salaried tax professional tax. Also any things buy Property or Vehicles tax more. If you tax more then why we wait For city traffic 1-2hr delay. You should infra more. Every one free school with advance technology

30% direct and other indirect taxes are fine, around 50 to 60 percent going directly or indirectly in tax. Yes all countries the tax is that much, but they are giving a high standard medical facilities, giving child support and much things in return. In India all are going to the politicians pocket. Nothing is handling properly in government sectors everything is sold to private. Where did all the taxes went?
Do away with cgt or reduce it to 1-2%

Tax is a problem in overseas countries as well. I live in Australia and i am a salaried person paying 35-40% tax. Very high interest rates. Normal people are struggling here. Rental prices have gone up crazy. Cost of living wise… i can see my family and friends in India are far better off than me.

Both the points are so valid. The Dividend taxation question should have been asked as well. It's very unfortunate that the Finance minister is simply laughing it off. India cannot become a powerful country or a 5 trillion economy in this way.

No one is forcing you to buy shares/ house using govt infra and protection. Buy and pay at your own risk.
And once fraud happens then send your own people as police to investigate.
Make your own provisions to keep your mumbai property in your possession as your mr lodha gave you oral commitment or notary later in just 100 rs or may be in your son’ s note book note in last page as terms and condition.
This way you are just sleeping with your own partner and being a good human.
Anyways I like to pay taxes for services from govt as I dont want to manage
1- My road to go office and to secure my employment rights (income tax).
2- My stock transaction safety, manage sebi and IAS system (stt)
3- my property value and safety fee that no one can take it just by occupying it forcefully. (Registry fee and property tax )
And many more.
The man want to take bath and is looking for free soap and shampoo after paying water bill only.

As a good Human we are ready to pay taxes at a reasonable rate, in that audio he never mentioned about not paying taxes. All business whales don't pay much taxes, but a middle class who earns good pay will be taxed 30 percentage and he need to buy stuff with remaining those are taxed 5 to 28 percentage. When he invested to beat the inflation created by high not reasonable terms and conditions, he invests and pay capital gain. Road taxes are fine but most roads are given to private. Buys a car after paying 70% for that tax. For everything tax. We middle class suffer. Our 50 to 60 percentage goes in tax directly or indirectly

1. Employment rights don't exist:
You can get forced to resign or get fired anytime. Anyone can get fired by corporates for silly reasons in the name misbehaviour. Why income tax. Government don't compensate fired employee.

Invester takes the risk of loss, government does not compensate the loss.
Profit is in the hands of business owners not the government. Government employees don't work for corporates 😂
3. Indian property right is joke:
Anyone can build a house in your plot, owner cannot demolish the house. Owner will be arrested
After white washing, Police don't have rights to evict the encroacher.
After 3 years, court cannot evict the encroacher.
After 12 years, the encroacher can legally transfer ownership of plot.
Go read some Indian law. brother.
Politicians often live in rented houses without making a rental agreement.
After 3 years, they will acquire the house by force. Land owner can do nothing legally.
That is why the law is still not changed. To help politicians bully house owners and farmers 😂
Go change those laws before asking for property purchase/ownership tax.
