Specialty guys can do it faster considering that's all they do. Not saying Gas Monkey is incapable of doing it, just not in time for this particular bet. And whether Richard himself could do it, ehh I agree.

If I am spending $70K on a restomod (of sorts) the first thing getting replaced is the motor...especially the anemic motor that came in this Trans-Am.

I was thinking how the hell did get parts for a 403 even when those cars we’re knew we had a hard time getting engine parts for the olds 403 engine option
As an owner of a detailing business. Seeing you guys leaning over the fenders(especially a black fender) with no blanket over it. Wearing jeans that have buttons and zippers. Gives me anxiety. All that work just to scratch the shi+ out of the paint. Love the show though. Especially the older ones like these.

It's always about the unbreakable timeline. That angle is gotten old. We'd rather see more of the build process instead of the cheesy side plots.

That's the engine I want in my Y82 edition a 403 olds, no LS Chevy,I l ❤ sports cars but I'm no adrenaline junky.😅
Good engines till you start making power above 400hp. Then the block becomes the weak point. They do sound pretty good around 7k rpm, it's just building them to take that kind of abuse that's the issue. Webbed mains are a bit of a problem at high rpm.
I'd get the Pontiac 400 over the Olds 403 any day. But if all you want to do is lug around and cruise, the Olds 403 does that pretty well.
If Richard did doughnuts in that car and caused it to fail, is he to blame for a dozen or more people having to work a 24hr day? Fix the problem he created? Because with his attitude, he acts like it’s somebody else’s fault. Everyone else does all the work and Richard collects all the money. I’m sure he split the extra 40k with all the workers that bailer him out of this situation 😐 Or maybe, he just bought them food while they worked all night?
He's the owner?? Do they not get paid?? If they want a share for this, then they have to share the loss for something else.

Looks like the Oldsmobile 403 cu. They used different 6.6 l engines
they came with 2 6.6s the 403 was available in 77 with only an auto, its the first year of the 403, and it was available with the 400 pontiac in auto and 4 speed
That was such a fake timeline that I have ever seen. It just tells you that all of those shows, they’re all staged.

Don’t get me wrong….I LOVE the show!!! But…I’m NOT a fan of the “Gas Monkey” logo incorporated into the Trans-Am decals. Otherwise,the car is AMAZING! I own a darn near MINT 1977 Black and Gold Trans-Am,so I can REALLY APPRECIATE this build!
