I don't understand. When Richard says he will have to pay for the damages on his mustang. Would it not be covered by the guy who is at fault? He did run the red light. In Canada where I live it is the person who is at fault that pays damages to both parties.

Here in Norway, some woman lost control of her car, hit another car and a cyclist and seriously injured them. She didn't have insurance. The insurance company of the car that was hit payed for damages to both the car and the hospital bill for the cyclist and the bill was the equivalent of 1.1 million dollars. The insurance company and the court deemed her responible (the one without insurance) and she was forced to pay back everything.
I hope she did'nt have any dreams and aspirations for life, cause she'll spend the rest of her life in a tiny apartment, pay the bills and spend the rest of her paycheck on the claim.
The car now sits on a platform in Oslo's (capitol city of Norway) biggest train station for everyone to see and learn why you don't drive without insurance.

Here in South Florida its the Wild Wild West, nobody has car insurance and everyone carrys guns. There guns are the insurance and settle all disputes.
In England you have to have insurance fines and loss of license
In Italy you must have an insurance BEFORE you buy a car from a dealer
In California, you can't renew your registration, buy a car off a car lot or transfer title without proof of insurance.

Same thing in Pennsylvania no insurance and have an accident, your car gets towed away, license plate and registration are suspended, your license get suspended and there are mega fines to pay, PLUS to get the vehicle back you have to go to the auto tag agency with proof of insurance before you get a new plate and registration,and you have to have the license restoration letter sent to you (which gets entered into the computer for compliance and verification)

As a policyholder you have the right to sue the uninsured person, but its unlikely they will have the money to pay you with anyway, so it's not worth it. You can also purchase additions to your insurance so that if you are in a collision with an uninsured driver your own insurance company will still cover the damages.

@@fraxonthefurry21 I live in Amsterdam and in the Netherlands we have a system where the person without insurance automaticly gets a 480 euro ticket per month without insurance. If the person doesn't pay that ticket, the insurance company will take your vehicle and the person cant drive without insurance any more. If you still get in to an accident with a person that doesn't have any insurance there is a fund provided by the government that completely covers your damage as long as you have insurance yourself.
That’s precisely what happened to me, 2 months after I received my license back in the day.
My dad and I found a fixer upper 73 Mach 1, 351C. We spent the better part of the next year fixing it up, totally mint.
All of the sudden, I was rear ended by a truck when I was at a dead stop. He was drunk, no license, no insurance. Plus, my dad and I hadn’t gotten around to having the Stang reappraised.
In the end, it was totaled. Kept the wreck and only received $2,750.00
That car was worth almost 10x’s that! Human trash doing that to an American Classic!!
It's insane that people will only get a ticket and not have to pay for the car. Idk how the law is, but they should be able to take that dude to court and garnish his wages or something.
You can take them to court but it would be useless. That guy obviously doesn't have any money and the court doesn't go after people for things like this like they do child support.
In Texas if you don't cover the repair cost when don't have insurance they can take your tags and suspend DL until the dept is paid. That's what's happened to a lady the rear ended my Toyota PU. She got her DL back after she paid for my truck.

Anyone who knows about building anything knows the kind of heartbreak it is to see something you created with your own hands be destroyed. Imagine building your house and some random prick crashing into it and destroying it
First, observable fact, if this damaged car is a 1967, it is Not, since 1967, been brand new. Guys did fantastic job of r-making a beauty...

@@chrisjackson1763 the car isn't repairable. They are built differently and also being an older mustang once you bend that frame there is no fixing it. Add on top of it the money they already spent restoring it with the addition to it being a hard to find item with decent body parts as is. They wouldn't be stupid to invest all that money again in trying to make the frame perfect just for no problems to happen while driving. I should also mention that the truck in the video is made of different materials (most being lighter, stronger, and more durable) compared to just steel in the mustang. You also have to factor in the truck being raised up compared to a car. Meaning the truck takes less damage near the engine. They even say the guy hit the mustang so hard that it shut it off. Which odds are from what the damage looked like, was due to the frame warping and the engine going with it. So no, there is no saving it, you can even hear them talk about it in the video and they restore and rebuild cars for a living.
As for the truck. Well like I said. It's a Chevy, an older one at that. And odds are going to be slapped with a salvage title and or it'll be repo'd and then sent to the yard for not selling in an auction. Since the guy driving had no insurance ( both drivers didn't) they'll more than likely arrest him like I said and it'll make it's way through repo and being seized by police.

unibodies are damn near impossible to fully straighten back out, especially the flimsy mustang unibodies of that day. It's warped and bent beyond repair

I drove my foxbody straight into a g37, (it was her fault) at about 25-30 mph. Front end was wrecked, but from the strut towers and back were not moved. We simply bought new frame rails, and cut out a radiator support from a fox at the junkyard and had a shop put it all together, and it was fixed! Lol it wasnt that much money, esp for these guys. But rip no insurance I would be triggered.

Not used in this case, but you can actually buy brand new old Mustang bodies directly from Ford. The same is done for first gen Camaros, Chevelles, 55-57 Chevies. Brand new reproduction bodies that can be licensed for the streets
