When you have 88k subscribers and your video gets almost a half million views, it gives you an idea how many folks enjoy watching your work. It just goes to show what a younger person who dedicates him or herself to learn different trades, and who has the drive to work hard, can achieve. It's great to see, and I hope your videos inspire the next generation of potential trades and craftspeople to find people like you to learn from.
Too bad you are too busy to post more. This channel is something different is a sea of "will it run" channels. The mix of lifestyle with craftsmanship has potential for a profitable channel.
I've been thinking about doing something like this for the longest time, but being from a fishing village and having spent my life on the water, I know what's involved, you need tremendous resources, tools, the space, the time, the money, the know how, it's endless!!! You have such a leg up on any average person with the connections you have, the average person would be overwhelmed!!!! It costs at least 180 a foot to Moore, pay to take out, pay to put in, pay for shore power, the required equipment to do motors on a craft like that is ridiculous. The regular Joe would have to pay about 7 to 10 grand a year just to own that boat while it sits idle, big nut. I admire you young man, this is hard work and enjoyable as F when its going good, so enjoy it while you're young, healthy and have the energy to do all of this because before you know it you'll start moving slower and get more beat up, this takes a lot out of you 😮
Many old boats aren't worth saving. I appreciate that you respect what you are dealing with and take it's value and safety seriously. Not sure my priorities were there at your age but at least I kinda always knew. She'll hold value and pay you back for the effort I'm sure.
From one old boat owner to another...I love the way you are so calm about being in too-deep, know the feeling pushing out dates on the hard-stand and trying to do everything yourself....I am enjoying your you journey and finding some motivation from it
Gus, me and my wife love your videos, and really appreciate your amazing talent and attitude. I will be buying a boat in the next 2 years; I may get in contact with you at some point. Keep them coming!! We call you " the kid".
He is a hard worker, but he also has some other qualities-- he shows INITIATIVE. Meaning, he is not afraid of taking on tasks where there is a possibility of failure. Also, he is smart and a quick study. Really, I do not know a single 23 year old with as much amp to his game as this guy has. I would bet my condo that he does not do drugs. He has too much drive. Too much ambition. I also predict he will be a well known guy on youtube within a few short years.
Hey Gus - I'm the guy that bought Quest! Sitting on her in Key Largo right now. Great videos. Look me up if you ever want a ride on Quest again. Craig has my info.
Mr. Gus, you are an amazing fellow! I cannot how much time and effort you put into your “Bella Rose” for the trip to the warm climate! So many projects in a relatively short time, unbelievable! I cannot believe how much you know about boating maintenance and/or repairs! You are deserving a trip to the tropics for sure!
First time watching and I must say, i love to see young people who are into fixing old stuff and not just buying new but, at the same time mixing old and new technology !!!
Hi Gus, just ran into your channel “In Too Deep”. The name got my attention and for the last few hours, I just couldn't stop watching and was so touched I wanted say, Thank You! I think somewhere along life’s journey we can identify and that’s where I am now. Sad, I missed you guys in Savannah, Ga, would love to have met you and given a hand. Until keep up the great work. --Art
Watching all this for a second time. I been working and living on the water all my life. One day soon I hope to buy a boat for when I retire from running tugboats
The list of things you were able to do is longer than the list of things I plan to do in 3 years time. You did it in less than 2 months. I have no clue where you get the energy and the knowledge, but it is freaking awesome ! 👍
like catface, I'm 81 and keeping up with my 67 Glasspar . i've also owned for 11 years a 65 Owens Contessa. Total restoration on that boat that I truly miss. Keep up the great video's.
Hi Gus, I just found your channel two or three days ago, the first part of your journey video (Miami to Maine) randomly showed up in my YT feed, so I clicked on it, watched both episodes in a row and just right now finished watching this video. And I have to say it: Man, those three videos were a pleasure to watch! 🙏 I do have the utmost respect for all the blood, work, sweat and money you put into making Bella pretty again, and it pays off big time in my opinion. You know, I‘ve never been into the maritime world at all, I‘ve done a few short vacation boat trips with my parents (we chartered a 52ft MY for 10 days, back in 2010, 2011 and 2012) and for sure, it was a blast. But since then I‘ve had nothing to do with boats or boating. But I really can appreciate and respect the passion you do have for boats and for especially for Bella. 😍 A BEAUTIFUL ship ❤️❤️❤️, I really like the look of her and I would have never ever guessed her age by the first shots I saw from her. She aged really well 🥴🙏 I definitely will enjoy the other videos of her and you so I‘m really glad and happy to have found your channel, I subscribed immediately after the first „Miami to Maine video“. All the best to you and Bella, I‘m really looking forward to watch the next episode about you and your beautiful MY Bella 🙏 With best wishes from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp 👋 EDIT: I do hope my English „skills“ were good enough to let you understand what I tried to write in this comment 🥴🫣😀
Awesome channel and great work on the old girl. You’ve got some great skills there. Looking forward to following along. The one thing I’d say being an older fart who has seen some pretty nasty workplace injuries - don’t shortchange yourself on the protective equipment. You’ve got only one set of lungs, eyes, ears, and limbs. Protect yourself and your buddies properly and you won’t be wondering at 50 why you can’t breathe, hear, or see properly. That will seem a long way away to you at your age, but it’s coming. I feel like I was your age just yesterday...Cheers!
I've watched every minute of every one of your videos...they all leave me totally speechless! Total admiration for your expertise and your willing less to get "in too deep" and fso! Huge respect!! Can't wait for the next one!
Your passion for this Hatteras 50 and all boats shows. I watched all of the videos. I love this Hattie, all original with the best upgrades. Once I saw the video of the purchase I too would have jumped to buy that Yacht! Updated Engines, AC , auto pilot and all you needed was a lot of hard work and the expensive finishing touches to the shafts, electronics and a few other expensive goodies. The off grid electric system was very smart. If you ever bring her back to NYS Canal stop in Fairport, NY. I'd love to build a permanent roof over the fly bridge with you to hold the Solar panels and catch rain water to up the off grid game.
Hello Gus happen to find you and spent all morning watching your vids. When we found out you were only 23 yrs.old, we were blown away at the responsibilities you had taken on. We have a 87 412t. AMEROSPORT CHRISCRAFT THAT we picked up a few yrs ago and let me tell you, if there was anybody we would trust sailing her down to Florida, you would be the person we would trust to bring her there. You are extremely gifted with your responsibilities and to see somebody so young and enthusiastic with a passion like yours is something to be celebrated! We love your videos and the work you've put into them! Love the music as well. Hope to follow you on more of your adventures. The Bella Rose ahhhh a classic so happy to see that you brought her back!👍👏👏👏👏 love from Ontario 🇨🇦!
Your DETERMINATION in the face of adversity is beyond compare, Gus! The ingenuity to repair the running gear ...AWESOME! 💪 You're an inspiration to all of us! 🛟 Old guy approves. 👏🍻⚓️
No doubt you've been one busy man. That prank throwing a body in the dumpster was hilarious. LOL and I know from experience there's never a dull moment when traveling by boat, which is all good because you'll have a lifetime of memories
Typical of all haul out projects it never is a long enough time frame. My boat is old, although 20 years newer than Bella, and every time I haul I usually find something like you did with the prop shafts. If you figure a week you need two, or a month you need 2 months. I love the name of your channel it sums up all boat owning!
The joys of a major refit. I have a 1996 Albin 32+2 that was mothballed and put into storage early 2007. All systems were working at the time of mothballing however I hate to imagine what it needs now. Topsides and hull have cleaned up very nicely with first a strong dishwashng liquid followed by a bleach/water 1-1 combo to to kill off any remaining organic growth on gelcoat. Worked well. Just completed the hull today with 3M cleaner wax. Remarkable comeback. Do it again with Mequires Flagship and it will almost look like factory. The interior will be another story. Engine should come out also for a thorough going over.
Hi Gus Came across you by accident. What a lot of knowledge you have for a young guy. I am impressed by your attitude. I hope you continue with your channel but if not I wish you every success in the World. You are a clever, creative young man.
You are doing a great job. Wish I could be there with you. Love your task in music. May I make one nasty, yet needed remark. Fiberglass dust can harm your health. so when you grind or cut it use some respatorial protection
I'm a 73 yr old greatgrandma. I LOVE YOUR POSTS!!! ❤I have a passion for mechanics, and your channel satisfies that love. I worked for 30 years for Newport News, and then GE turbines manufacturing as a draftsman before CAD. I wish I could do it all over again. THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS! I'll buy some merchandise. 👍
Love the boat and your ability to bring her back to life. I have a 1974 Uniflite 42 on Lake of the Ozarks Missouri and I will be bouncing around the Caribbean next season on my Irwin 38 sailboat. Keep doing what you're doing and maybe I will see you out there!!
the gift of desperation yields ingenuity, My dad and I built a 55' sailboat in 198o out of steel. His wife sold it after he died. Lost track of it. You have enough mechanical sense not to destroy your boat. It looks it had safety pins in it. The alignment is real tough. Sometimes what seems to be tragedy works out to be a gift.
Looking great Gus! Nice work. Kip at South Port is a very close customer of ours. My company manufactured the self-propelled boat handler that hauled the Bella Rose out of the water! Glad it handled her well!! Keep up the good work!! Dwight
I.m 70..keeping up with my 50 year old searay is about all i can do..great job..bravo..i look at fantastic sometimes free projects and just have to keep walking..good luck captain !
You remind me of my son. he is your age and also a marine mechanic. Like you he is not afraid to to tackle any job and do whatever is needed to get the job done. You are very impressive!.
I absolutely love your videos. Your depth of knowledge, talent and ingenuity combined with your work ethic and sense of humor are a joy to watch. Bella Rose is beautiful and I can’t wait for the next video of your trip down South!
I applaud a bloke with your skills and obviously some money. Don't stop videos and any redesigning you do if it is not patented make sure you take out a pattern on your new designs.
Please wear protective gear when working with fiberglass and all those chemicals! Great video with all your hard work. I had a 42' 1974 Hatteras Sportfish and the boat was built like a Sherman tank. Many boats that fall over during a hurricane would be totalled. This is a tribute to how well Hatteras made their yachts! I've tried prop speed and many other methods and it all comes off if you run the boat long distances.
Bella Rose has some beautiful lines on her, lovely name for an old lady, and she has some speed to her with her new running gear, wow really loved what you done to her in getting her ship shape again
Growing up on the Bayou around shipywards and being a welder for a traidv, can deff I have you pull them out of the water. Be glad you did not need a new rutter, or prop, or haul work done to repair major issues. It will beworth ith.
New subscriber here. Watching these older videos. You must do great work. Those guys at the marina have respect for you and clearly want to help. No doubt that comes from your attitude and work ethic you put forth and the respect you show them.
Gus! Found your channel just recently and I’m getting caught up on all your endeavours and I’m absolutely blown away with your skill set at 23-24 years old it’s unbelievable. I’m 48 and I’m am very skilled at a lot of things but my man you got me beat in spades! You my friend are an incredible young man! I’ll be supporting all of your videos!
Gus, another great video. Wow, you did a LOT of rehab on Bella Rose. Those are incredibly long prop shafts! Great work getting 55-year old cutlass bearings and other running gear out and reinstalled. Really fun to share your adventure, setbacks, progress and hard work.
Wow mad respect man, I thought I was insane for buying a 41' 1972 Concorde motor yacht and fixing it up, but you went in even deeper. Your skills are insane, I one day hope to get up to half the adventures you have! Cheers from Canada
This is the type of guy who will not cut corners regardless of timeline or money. If this yacht ever goes for sale, someone will be getting a very great deal. Nice work, dude. I can't stop watching your vids lol
The video's of you and your buddy's on the boat having a good time are soooo much more awesome when someone watches the amount of work you put in to be able to do so!!! You are freaking awesome my guy!!
Gus, im still amazed at the amount of skills you possess. I myself consider myself versed in many different skills, ours are much different though. I really hope to see the Bella Rose back on the water. She's a beautiful vessel, and you just make such great videos. I really appreciate your hard work ethic it's something that's lacking in a lot of younger people these days. I wish you flat seas
Im so happy for you! Bella Rose looks fantastic. I hope you are proud of what you have accomplished. Because although you make it look easy.. It is the exact opposite haha. Many years from now you will look back on these videos and smile ear to ear. I am 41 and wish that I had filmed my big projects from my 20's. Keep up the great work. A little advice. Try to keep up with 2 videos a month and before you know it you will be getting that Play button!
Thank you Gus for sharing your journey. You are an Amazing young man. Safe and healthy travels Working for a marina a great Idea. I worked part-time at a car dealership, lots of work on my car
Gus, all the rust stains you can get bc rid of it with pool acid aka Muriatic acid great job on the glass work. Im getting every thing ready to do my transom on my 82Wellcraft Sportsman 248 with my08 Evinrude 300 etec
Nice technique, in my navy days we had to replace the slip ring on an 8cyl ALCO generator. The slip ring was heated in a galley oven for about an hour and the shaft hit with a CO2 fire extinguisher. Nautical engineering at its finest!!
Like reading good book I couldn't take a rest. I can't believe I watched the whole video in one sitting. So much progress on the renovations and repairs. I can't wait for the video(s) about the trip south.
I have been in your situation "in too deep" and its horrible. Not only are you fighting all the difficult problems but then there is the fatigue and depression that sets in from being in overwhelm and have to keep going. Good thing you are young and tough.
I know it's hard to make money and make videos but I wait as patiently as I can because I love your videos. You deserve all the good things in life. See you on the next one.
Always look forward to your video’s Gus and it seems I’m far from alone. Whatever you’re doing you’ve hit on something with these. Very proud for you and everything you’ve accomplished.
Gus!! I just had to comment to say how much I admire you. I am most impressed with your vocabulary, lol. You know the term for every single item on the boat "shaft log tubes" and so on. I am learning a TON just based on your casual conversation explaining what every component is and what it does. Me thinks your an incredible smart, high IQ dude with your vocab. I am just devouring your content and learning a ton. I hope you inspire other young people to ditch the grind and being glued to a phone and get out there to push themselves and enjoy experiences just like you are. Anyway, stay humble and continue to be a great guy!!
Been there done that too many times. Your blisters were not too bad I’ve seen a whole lot worse. Shaft work sucks I’ve fixed to many. I had a job in a working marina in Washington DC for a time back when I lived on a house boat in that same marina. Wife I have now won’t let me get back into it so I’ll have to stay with Harley’s. Boats were great though I really loved the lifestyle. Hatteras are the best in my opinion.
Honestly the TIG wasn't bad if you say you're a beginner. That looks like pretty ok penetration and uniform enough for the job, no holes etc. You know what your doing. Love your channel dude, thanks for inspiring my buddies and I to get back into the dream...
For the broken out cutlas bearing, I would have waited until the shaft was ready to go back in. Then slide the new bearing, pre-mounted in the fiberglass tubes over the shaft and once the shaft was secured to the engine and in the other bearings, then slide the last one into place and glass it in then.
Great! I went to a very similar journey after I got myself a 56ft Mattews, glass hull and in very similar condition to your Hatt, needed a lot of work, in Florida , lived aboard for 7 years, great experience I miss sometimes. Beautiful work so far! keep it up!
Bringa back memories. When I was 12 I talked a marina into paying %500 for a storage tiyle on a 25 foot cabin cuiser with a blown engine and had been sunk. They also gave me two weeks to work ok it and a free launch. I anchored it out on bunch of engine blocks, left home and moved in and never looked back. I did odd jobs on boats moast of my life although I seemed to have a callling for delivering sailboats without engines. One yach broker bought pieces of shyt and said here bobby, get her ready for sale. I never got past the 6th grade so I figured that if people were turning their 200 and 300K boats 0over to me with a 6th grade education, I must have something going and just never stopped. I am SO GLAD that shyt is over. Id fix one boat up and they would launch it and give ,me anothjer piece of shyt to fix up. Thgse days were pretty cool. I had a sailboat so if somebody paid me enouigh to stop sailing for a while, I would and I really liked sailing over being shoulder deep in bilge shyt or covered in bottom paint. I never considered myself rich but if I wanted an outboard motor or another boat I baught5 it. I spent moast of my working life sailing around south America because it was harder to find me.
Hi Gus. Very glad to see your progress. Your boat knowledge is extensive. I’m on a trawler in Florida currently. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your diligence and positive attitude through all the repairs..
All I can say is you’re my hero because I’m telling you I just don’t believe I could ever do what you’re doing. Great job keep up the good work I enjoyed the channel love your content.
Hey Gus, miss you, she a big girl and your boat projects are plentiful, she is amazing and will amazingly a Hatteras! Checking out the merch, lots of luck and keep us up on the refit😎👍
I'm glad to see you have a new video out this morning It is really wonderful to see how you're progressing with your experiences. I can't wait to see what the next episode will be Thanks again
Yeah, Break Out Another Thousand, aka BOAT… but you are doing marvellous. Nice to see that yacht come back to life. Cannot wait to see your journey back to Florida.
Your videos are fantastic - so entertaining, really interesting look into a slice maritime life, travels and places I'd never otherwise not see, and you have a great charm and charisma.
Second the thought. TH-cam must like this channel and promote. My introduction to the channel and I subscribed. Not bad for the extent of blisters coming out of the late 60s into the next ten years. Builders and material makers were still figuring out the combos. This Top Hat is a lot better than the Uniflights of the same vintage.
When you have 88k subscribers and your video gets almost a half million views, it gives you an idea how many folks enjoy watching your work. It just goes to show what a younger person who dedicates him or herself to learn different trades, and who has the drive to work hard, can achieve. Agree 💯
Agree this channel could be huge
😢😢😢
Agree. Record more, post more, make more money. I'm tired of the "lets get it started" videos and nothing else to them.
Very true. He isn’t afraid of a challenge.

Same here!
Such a nice and thoughtful comment. Thank you for posting this for all to read. So well written, simply awesome.

You are doing a great job. Wish I could be there with you.
Love your task in music.
May I make one nasty, yet needed remark. Fiberglass dust can harm your health. so when you grind or cut it use some respatorial protection
THIS - Common Gus, get that PPE working for you!
My head is spinning with all the projects you have to do on this boat and your initiative to get them complete!
remmeber when you heat metal up it expands. Usually to remove bearings we use dry ice not heat.

The level of respect I have for you words cannot describe.
Looking great Gus! Nice work. Kip at South Port is a very close customer of ours. My company manufactured the self-propelled boat handler that hauled the Bella Rose out of the water! Glad it handled her well!! Keep up the good work!! Dwight
Great job. Right up to specification limit and handled it easily. Quality workmanship.
Disclaimer: No financial connection :))
Just watched the whole video....I'm exhausted! Love the trick putting the bearing in the toaster oven and the nitrogen from the canned air container.
Whoever ends up with a boat that you've owned is a very lucky person! The amount and quality of work you do is incredible.
Amazing, I'm exhausted just watching the video!
great video but u could have made 50 episodes from this 1 video alone u did soo much watched the whole thing
I’m glad it was you doing those fiberglass repairs, my skin started itching all over just watching 😂
New subscriber here. Watching these older videos. You must do great work. Those guys at the marina have respect for you and clearly want to help. No doubt that comes from your attitude and work ethic you put forth and the respect you show them.
Well said as I fit under your same situation. This channel def has grown to 1 of my favorites
The ability to make things work when others would give up. Love this video. The best repair boot video.
I love your channel Gus. I have watched every video multiple times. Intoodeep is the best channel on TH-cam
Thank you Gus for sharing your journey. You are an Amazing young man. Safe and healthy travels
Working for a marina a great Idea. I worked part-time at a car dealership, lots of work on my car
Gus, all the rust stains you can get bc rid of it with pool acid aka Muriatic acid great job on the glass work. Im getting every thing ready to do my transom on my 82Wellcraft
Sportsman 248 with my08 Evinrude 300 etec
Simply WOW!!!
You're a veteran buddy.. great to listen and watch ch while works ng on my 78 42' unflite sportfisher. . You carry a great attitude. Thank you 😁
Honestly the TIG wasn't bad if you say you're a beginner. That looks like pretty ok penetration and uniform enough for the job, no holes etc. You know what your doing. Love your channel dude, thanks for inspiring my buddies and I to get back into the dream...
You're working around a great group of people the way they share years of knowledge now you can pass it on👍
Nice to have you back in the youtube saddle!!
Hey!! woaw.i'm not even a boater, and i'm captivated by your channel and your skills applied to fixing boats like that. that is an amazing channel.
For the broken out cutlas bearing, I would have waited until the shaft was ready to go back in. Then slide the new bearing, pre-mounted in the fiberglass tubes over the shaft and once the shaft was secured to the engine and in the other bearings, then slide the last one into place and glass it in then.
Looking back now, I wish I did it like that in the first place. It would have saved me a lot of time and hassle.
Great! I went to a very similar journey after I got myself a 56ft Mattews, glass hull and in very similar condition to your Hatt, needed a lot of work, in Florida , lived aboard for 7 years, great experience I miss sometimes. Beautiful work so far! keep it up!
SO happy to see you and your boat again and once again...a FABULOUS video. Cannot wait for the next one. Best wishes from Cape Town.🛥🎉
Great video as usual! Looking forward to the next one, stay safe out there!
I’ve worked a couple years in the yachting industry and we usually paint that green stuff on the shaft. You should look into doing that.
Wow, I'm actually exhausted by all the work you did young man. Great video!
You are an impressive young man. And that old Hatteras is gonna be pretty!
I'm glad to see you have a new video out this morning It is really wonderful to see how you're progressing with your experiences. I can't wait to see what the next episode will be Thanks again
Bella rose is such a pretty boat
So awesome you’re living life to the fullest bud.
Because of your videos, me and my brother bought a Hatteras with twin 6Bt's. Your AWESOME and me and my bro Love your videos.
Can't get enough of these videos inspired to go and grind for what I want your smart as hell
There are viewers and doers. You young sir are a doer, "good on ya."
Quite an undertaking but doable. Being a prairie dweller I sure miss the boating and open water. Keep up the videos.
Dude, you are really talented. Your abilities to fix repair and replace are remarkable. Keep up the good work and I will keep on watching your videos.
I live about 3 miles from Wayne Beal. That thing was modified on the bow and the house. They are good work boats for sure.
Can you belief this guy does all this. Inspirational.
