I like the design of the Nut. I've just had my chuck off my mini Lathe and noticed the spindle is milled to accept some sort of Tapered part? I just noticed you have a collet set up on yours. I'm trying to figure if it's worth it seeing how I've reground my chuck and get almost Pure true concentricity from it and it holds any size stock while doing so, sub .0005 run out.
Hmm. Five microns is pretty ambitious! Good luck with that on a mini lathe. I'm not quite sure what, if anything, you're asking, but most mini lathes like mine have a spindle taper to fit a Morse No 3 chuck and that's what I have fitted in this sequence. It gives a better grip on small round stock without the possibility of the workpiece getting marred by the three jaw serrations. John
