    I respect your braveness of going into a foreign country, actually live there, and not only there for sightseeing/vacation purposes.

    • @syncmaster915n
      @syncmaster915n 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Most ordinary folks in any country are quite friendly to foreigners. If you're courteous and respect their customs, they are more than happy to help you or even befriend you whether you're just a passerby or intending to stay. It's not as scary as one might think.

    I won't lie... If I lived there, I would totally drag my dual monitors down to the coffee shop, and if I drank beer would probably sit there all day drinking! Lol!

    • @commenter7893
      @commenter7893 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So that means that instead of the nail salon you would like an internet cafe with decent monitors.

    • @commenter7893
      @commenter7893 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You got a point. But maybe a grocery store would have been better than a nail salon. You are concerned about internet cafes but would get a pedi? What's wrong with you. You probably have nail fungus already.

    You deserve credit for adapting so comfortably to your new abode. I've seen people who just moans and complains.
    But I have a feeling the fascinating China outside of your apartment more than compensate for the minor issues inside your apartment! :D

      Why 80%?...Anyway, since I'm a straight guy even if it's 100% - what's the big deal?
      Also you're not the only one in the world who can have multiple TH-cam accounts. I can be spending half my time using another account arguing with people who criticise China unfairly.
      P.S. Nice to know even someone so insignificant like me can have a troll! :D

      Megan C. *In Big cities of China, the rent are not cheap at all. With 1000 USD you usually can only rent a small 1 or 2-bedroom apartment . But in the 3rd to 5th tier cities you can rent a very spacious apartment with that amount of money* .

    I really like your attitude, always looking on the bright side of life. TBH the apartment is quite small, especially the kitchen, the bedroom, and the bathroom. It is kind of depressing that it gets more and more expensive to live a decent life in big cities in China, especially for young people.

    Loved the video and how adaptable you are to your surroundings. Cool little apartment can’t wait to see Jordan and Livios apartment too! Btw I have a question do you have any advise for how to use your cellphone in other countries? Do you only wait till you get WiFi or do you purchase a new SIM card? Anyone else who travels feel free to answer to please. I’m planning on going to South America early next year.

    • @WheresPoppy
      @WheresPoppy  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I would say for the most part you don't need cell service when traveling. Most places you go offer free wifi and if you see a Starbucks or even McDonalds you can always trust them to have it as well. The only times I've bought service was here in China of course because I live here and it makes life a lot more convenient. And two, when I was in Malaysia because I volunteered at a resort that literally banned the wifi haha. If you still want to buy cell service to feel more confortable while traveling, which is understandable then it's super easy. You can get it at any phone company, kiosk, or even the airport. However, you do need to have an unlocked phone to do this so I recommend either buying one, jailbreaking it, or hopefully you have a phone old enough like I do that can be unlocked. I hope this answers your question!

    When you say you need a key to your complex, what do you mean? Is it a key to get into the building itself or is there a gate outside that requires a key? In Beijing there are often businesses (English schools, cafes, etc...) in private apartment complexes, but they are super easy to get into because the only locked door is the main gate. There are so many people going in and out that you just wait for a resident to open the gate and you can slip in. Maybe the situation you are describing is different. Great video, I love looking at different homes. :)

    The connection stability of the ExpressVPN depends on the quality of your Internet. Your VPN doesn’t drop literally because you have a high quality Internet access. Seeing you are charged 200 CNY per month for the Internet, if phone doesn’t included, then that’s very expensive in China and should be a super fast Internet. When I use the same VPN in my school, it frequently drops due to the slow Internet.

    Labor in China is extremely cheap, so it's possible to have such a secluded bar that barely sees customers stay afloat, likely costs the building nothing to run. And the novelty of it would pay itself off in attracting customers, as you say it is quite handy to have.

    great video 10 mins yeah! really enjoy your footage, you can make longer videos by including more footage without having to talk. 10 mins to 20 mins is the best for regular videos, because it allows audience to fully immerse in your world

    My appartment in another city has a bigger private surrounding in the fourth floor. There are a street of shops and a small manmade forest and gardens, and swiming pool, tenis fields and restaurants and so on. But tell you what, those shops can't last long and they will switch owner every half year. Because if you just do business within the buildings ,there aren't much profit they can earn.

    Shenzhen is one of the most expensive cities in China for rent. It's cool that you can decorate your limited space so chic.
