Hi Carole! I admit...Once I find a style and fit that I like, I do use a pattern over & over again. I try new patterns every now & then, too. But I do have some "ol' faithful" type of patterns that I continually go back to. Why not? It works for me! Happy Sewing!!
I complete agree Deb! If you love a pattern and it works, unless you fancy a change why not just use it again and again. I used to buy the same style of clothes year on year from the same shop, that isn't any different 😆. Thanks for stopping by my friend xx🧵😊
Hi Carole, oh my gosh! Almost all of those are my favs too! Makes me want to go on a sewathon! Thank you so much for mentioning my Hoodie Hugs! Still my favorite thing to wear!Hugs, Stephanie ❤❤❤
No problem at all! It was such a good pattern and so many of us had success with it. Since I filmed this on Tuesday the weather has gone warm again 🤣. I was all excited to wear those things and especially brush off the boots! Thanks for watching and hope all is well with you all 😘❤️
Lovely, classic clothes such as what you showed remain classics for years, Carole. Added details like the side tie are what I love sewing. You’re amazing! 😘 I have a new Hoodie Hugs coming up soon. That pattern just fits so well without much alteration. My 25-yr old granddaughter has requested one, too! I thought I’d never get her into anything other than the Laundry Day Tee, tee shirts, and shorts. 😂
I had forgotten all about the Hoodie Hugs until I searched through my Autumn stuff and can't believe I only made one of those, I need to make another like you. I know my daughter would like one too but I am keeping a low profile on that!! Thanks for watching 😊🍂
Thank you Catherine, I love the changing of the seasons and finding the clothes you forgot about. I can't imagine what it is like to live somewhere like Florida! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Oh I am so glad you enjoyed my Autumn roundup, can you believe it has been warm since I filmed this on Tuesday 😆. October tomorrow though so the weather is bound to change. I am certainly going to make more of those matching cowl necks this year on dresses as it was so handy! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Thank you so much!! There was definitely a cosy theme going on wasn't there 😆. Funny how we all get sad about Summer leaving us but then long for cosy dark evenings! Thank you for your comment and your time 🧵😊
Thank you but some of those were from previous years as well and come out year after year! A couple of the Butterick ones were real successes last year and can't wait to make more of them. Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Thanks Carole. I went looking for this video since winter is on us here in Sydney. Today the winds are blowing and it is freezing, for Australia. I think 11deg centigrade right now. I had just watched your spring/summer sews and thought you must have something for winter. Surprisingly I do have a lot of the patterns that you like so I need to pull them out and get sewing. Lately I've been sewing a lot of Indie patterns, particularly Pattern Emporium and Itch to Stitch and I've found the fit so good, it's hard to think of going back to the Big 4 but I will give it a go. Thanks for taking all the trouble of sharing. Maree
Thanks so much for watching and your comment. To be honest it isn't really Summer here either yet, no idea what has happened. It was 11c here today as well 😂. I am glad that this video has helped you out, really we should all sew a season ahead like the clothing companies do! Good luck going back to the Big 4, I am sure you will be fine. 🧵😊
I'm doing the same but for the opposite season. It's amazing what you find when you unpack for the coming season. I'm going on a tropical cruise around the top of Australia in March and my past summer makes are going to be joined by a few more of my favourite patterns between now and then. Love your channel.
I love that you are opposite to us in Seasons! Sometimes I feel sorry for the Florida Gals who basically wear the same all year round. Your cruise sounds wonderful, you will need lots of special outfits for that. Have fun sewing those lovely light dresses while I sew away with heavy knits!! Have a good week 😊🍂
Great video. I love pulling out the previous years clothes, and finding surprises of favourite items. Then I like to build on that. We don't need to start from scratch :)
You are right Nancy! If I had started just with fabrics and patterns without checking on my previous makes I would have probably doubled up on some items which isn't necessary. It was great for me as reminded me exactly what I have and where the gaps are. Thank you so much for watching and your comment 🧵😊
Hi, Carole! I saw several patterns that I have but haven’t tried yet and now I’m definitely excited to get to that fall/winter sewing! Seeing how lovely your makes are definitely adds to my enthusiasm for the patterns. Now if only O had the time!🤪
Oh I'm so glad some of those might have inspired you to sew a couple of those. After I did that video I immediately made plans on which ones I wanted more of 🤣. As you say, if only there were more hours in the day 🥰Thanks Lara x
Thanks Zelda, re the running..... I have had two knee 'clean up ' operations don't worry, my knees aren't perfect! It is the one thing that keeps me sane though and when I get injured I get so sad I can't run 😓. However I know it isn't sensible and I won't be able to do it forever! 😆 xxxx
Love your previous autumn make and you've given me a lovely list of possibilities. It's fantastic to have these lovely patterns tested and given the seal of approval. Feeling very encourage to try some of favourite autumn makes. Thank you Carol 🙂
Oh I am so glad you enjoyed this video Marian and it has got you inspired to make some of the patterns. I know I am now keen to make another of those! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Aww thanks Trish. That Kwik Sew pattern is exactly what it says on the tin....a quick sew! Such a cute shape as well. Thanks for watching my lovely friend, you are sooooo kind 🤗💗🤗
Made my list for the next sale at Joannes here in the US. These are such good practical suggestions for thoughtful use of your time and energy with sewing I would wear all of these every day and they would not sit in my closet waiting for an occasion - If you dont like the outcome of one of these they can be morphed into pajamas
Thank you, everyday practical wear is my thing really as I don't do anything else than dog walk, look after the Grandsons or sew 😂. I am so excited to repeat a couple of those patterns this year. I am glad my suggestions may have encouraged you and yes, definitely wait until one of your great sales! Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Lovely to see your autumn makes! They look so lovely and cozy! Really taken by that butterick pattern, what an interesting neckline! And I think I’m going to have to give the Hudson pants a go!
Ha ha, for a minute I thought I may have persuaded you on the Butterick pattern....but no 😆. There is actually an Indie pattern that is similar and a free PDF. Tiffany from Hoosier Handmade did it earlier this year. I have just looked it up and it was the Reine Pattern from Little Lizard King. It really looks similar so if you like mine and don't wish to risk a Big 4 you might be in luck!! The Hudson pants are a really good pattern and my Hubby loves his too. Thanks so much for watching 😊🍂
Thanks so much Robyn, you are always so wonderfully kind! That is interesting you have been warned it will be hot, as you know the whole of Europe experienced extreme heat as well as the US in 2023, we didn't!!! Enjoy making your cool clothes. 😊🍂
Lovely wardrobe. We don’t get much of a Fall ( Autumn) here in Florida, but those are my favorite colors to wear. I just finished watching a documentary about The Wizard of Oz and your mannequin reminds me of the tin man. It’s as if she’s saying “oil please.”😊
Oh that made me howl with laughter re my mannequin!! Ok, I get the hint, I will get the oil out for next time. She is getting on a bit though....a bit like me and my joints 😆. Do you change you wardrobe at all in Florida for the seasons? I always forget to ask the other Florida ladies. Thanks for watching 😊🍂
I don’t change my wardrobe for Fall/winter. Maybe the folks who move here from other state do, out of habit. But I am 3rd generation born and raised Floridian. I can’t think of anyone who has a separate wardrobe. Year round shorts and sandals. I guess my winter wardrobe is to find my sweater on cool days.
@@Kippenhill I just can’t imagine that at all. Like you say, people that haven’t grown up in tropical climates and move to Florida probably do keep up the season swap ! Hope I don’t bore you all Winter with my snuggly makes 😂. X
Great video Carole! I have that Butterick pattern and can’t wait to make a cozy top with it! I had bought some cold weather fabrics last year around December- then I didn’t get to sew for a couple of months so they are all still waiting to be made into autumn and winter clothes! You have definitely inspired me! ❤- Mary
Hi Mary, I can't wait to make another of those Butterick tops either! How wonderful to have some Wintery fabrics already to be sewn up, I have a few as well. Glad you liked the video and it was of help to you! Thanks for watching 😊🍂
Oh this was super fun and very inspiring! I love all those pieces - i especially like the dress with the infinity scarf you can wear with it. I need to do a massive closet clear-out soon because i’m running out of room and don’t wear everything in there. I need to do that before i start making more cold weather stuff!! 💞
There is nothing more exciting than having a peak at your different seasons wardrobe and remembering all the good pieces isn't there? It kind of makes up for the fact that you can't wear the hot weather gear any more 😆. I have gaps though and the main one is TROUSERS! I cannot go another year of reaching for Jeans day after day 😓. I need to get sewing 😉. Thanks so much for watching and I would love to see a video about your Autumn/Winter makes last year. Have a great week 💗😘🍂
Enjoyed your video. You have made some really great pieces. I haven't gotten inspired with Winter clothes yet as we are still having 100+ weather here in Tucson AZ. I'm still looking at shorts!
Oh send me some of that warmth!!!! No, I can't imagine you can think of wearing a jumper let alone joggers 😆. Thanks for watching anyway and your kind comments 🧵😊
Interesting videoCarole, you have some terrific pieces for Autumn.I wonder have you ever made the Southbank sweater dress ? It is a super snuggly dress and apart from the very low down pockets a great pattern and an easy sew . I must say I love your poncho and in these days of soaring heating bills it would be a useful garment to have. Thank you for this video and for the Winter sewing inspiration 🌹🌹🌹
Hi there, I had heard of the Southbank Dress but wasn't sure what it was until I looked it up just now. It looks to me like an elongated version of the Toaster sweater....but with pockets. It does look super cosy! I think I may have to order that if it is available in printed form. I did indeed use that poncho last year when we were all turning off the heating 😆. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your comment 🧵😊
Great makes still love the poncho so must get the pattern 👍and the toastie top? Someone else mentioned that pattern so will look for that to. But you always have lovely fabric
That poncho was such a win and I would love to make another as they were such fun to make! The pattern is enormously oversized though so be warned. It is funny but I always think everyone else has nicer fabric than me 😆, the grass is always greener isn't it! Thanks for your kind comments and watching 🧵😊
This was fun for me as I have many of the patterns you presented. Some I have made others were a reminder of what's in the wait to be made this year. You have the same build as me which gives me a great preview of what the garment will look like. Where do you purchase your lovely fabrics? Thank you Carol for another visit, looking forward to the next.
Thank you so much Cynthia and I am glad it has refreshed your memory too. We kind of need to do that really don't we before we go plunging into making Autumn plans. I get my fabrics from a variety of places to be honest, online mostly unless I take a trip to the US and go into JoAnns! I use the following online stores ;Beyond the Pink Door, Lamazi Fabrics, My Fabrics (Germany), Minerva and 1st for Fabrics mainly It very much depends on the type of fabric I need and how quickly! Thanks for watching 🧵😊
Great video, I loved seeing all your previous Autumn makes! I especially liked the red blouse with the waist tie and your skirt. I like wearing skirts with thick tights or leggings and boots in the cooler months too as it can get quite cold in my sewing/workroom!
Thank you! Every year I try so hard not to just fall into the pattern of jeans every day and I love boots and tights hence I try and make Winter dresses! It makes me feel kind of 'fancy' 😆. They have to be M & S Thermal 100 denier tights though, nothing see through for me! Thanks so much for your comment 🧵😊
Doing a roundup of your autumn makes is a great idea. I had forgotten some of these, so a good refresher. You mention thick tights often, I’m curious as to what brand of tights that you wear. I wear tights sometimes, but not thick ones, they are thicker that pantyhose. I can’t wear them very often because of our crazy weather. They are the called Snaggs, I think. They do not snag, though. Have you ever tried to make your own? 😂
Oh Sue, I have never tried to make my own and you are the second person to ask me that so it makes me wonder if I should be 😆. I am English therefore I get mine from good old Marks and Spencer! I like a nice thick 100% denier tight and thermal if possible 😊. The problem with leggings etc is getting the kind of fabrics that stores use, that has always been an issue for me, even denim I just can't get like the quality in the shops. I think I like the thick tights as I don't feel my legs are 'bare' and they are great for hiding my swollen knees! I am glad you enjoyed my makes, I too had forgotten a lot of them too. Have a good week 🧵😊
Brilliant vlog. I’ve book marked this for next as we are going into spring and summer. I wonder if you made one like this for your spring earlier this year?
Thank you! No I didn't think to make one for Spring/Summer, I should definitely do that. Thank you very much for the suggestion! How wonderful to be heading into Spring right now. Thanks for watching 😊🍂
I have pretty well all of the patterns you showed, and love them all too. Last year, I took out B6859 and considered making it, but decided the fabric I had in mind was too thick, but I've recently bought some Double Brushed Polly that I think will be lovely for it. The Swoncho pattern you showed next might be really cute with that heavier fabric that I didn't end up using last year. Otherwise, do you think it would work in a fleece back sweat shirt fabric that for some reason doesn't have stretch? I thrifted a whole bolt of it (about 10 metres) but am not sure what to make from it.
That B6859 really was a great pattern and I can't wait to use up more DBP that I have. I agree with your decision though, if the fabric is thick it probably wouldn't work as well. Hope you have success with it. Thinking about the poncho, the only thing that would concern me using sweatshirt fabric is the fact it doesn't have much drape and I think that is needed for the poncho? How wonderful that you have a whole bolt of it though, lots of hoodies, zip ups and joggers I think are your main options! You could always just give it a try as you have so much. Thanks for watching as always and being so loyal to my channel 🧵😊
Oh goodness, that is one thing I buy I will admit! The trouble is getting the fabrics they use and I love a super warm, thermal lined pair of tights as I'm such a cold person. I have tried to make leggings in the past but never found quite the right fabric as I have to buy most online and you just don't know what it feels like. Hope I haven't disappointed you! Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Hi Wendy, I am so sorry, I did what I accuse my husband of and using ' business speak'! Indie is just short for Independent and refers to the smaller pattern companies. The big four are Simplicity, New Look, Vogue, Butterick etc and mostly printed patterns. I am obverse to Indies a lot of the time because I like a printed pattern and I hate PDFs where you have to print and stick yourself! Re fabric, I have to buy a lot online as I don't really have any good fabric shops in my area, my top online ones are Beyond the Pink Door, Lamazi fabrics, My Fabrics (based in Germany), Minerva, 1st For Fabrics. It really does depend on what fabric I need and how quickly! Thanks for watching and please, feel free to ask any more questions. 🧵😊
No wonder you are looking forward to autumn - you have a nice pretty warm wardrobe waiting for you! Fun to see everything - and get some ideas, too!
I do indeed have lots of cosy things just waiting for the chillier, darker days! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment 😊🍂

@@socarole66 thanks for your suggestions.
Hi Carole, I'm curious, what tights pattern do you prefer for fall, winter? Could you do a tights, So Carole along?
Oh goodness, that is one thing I buy I will admit! The trouble is getting the fabrics they use and I love a super warm, thermal lined pair of tights as I'm such a cold person. I have tried to make leggings in the past but never found quite the right fabric as I have to buy most online and you just don't know what it feels like. Hope I haven't disappointed you! Thanks for watching 😊🧵
Hi Carole where do you get your Material from please? P.S. what is an Indie pattern please I said I’m new to things xxx
