I live in Western Maine, but am very close to Colebrook. A couple of things that you missed was the bike shop, and a great Pastry/breckfast place just up the corner from Rt 26 and RT 3. Although the town is busy and you were walking on the busiest section, it certainly does have a lot of history that you didn't mention. As for colors of buildings/homes, lots of folks in New England simply want to blend into nature and not stand out from it. Another spot that you missed was the Balsams which is in the midst of repair, but a fabulous building with an incredible amount of history, which also has a golf course and small ski area. Hope you take the time to look around, as sadly you missed a good deal of it, along with some of the local history and culture.
I moved to Colebrook 2 years ago after living in Massachusetts my whole life. It's a cute little quiet town. I love all the trails and pretty waterfalls.
It's been too long since I've been there. In the mid to late '70s I traveled up there from CT to snowmobile and stayed close by in the town of Pittsburg. It was very beautiful and friendly back then and sounds like it hasn't changed but seeing the video, it has grown.
Around 74 - 76 on old '70s sleds with leaf spring front suspension we did the Easter Seal Ride In from Pittsburg to Lake Winiaposocki (sp?) , ok Laconia, on club trails as there were no interstate trails back then. The local clubs put up trail signs for us. Had someone meet us at preplanned spots for gas and food. Spent the night around Benton Woods, LOL. Nowadays it's a 70 MPH cruise in 8 hours or less with a sit down lunch! The good old days, and this was all arranged by the owner of the cabins we rented every time and if memory serves me correct his name was Bob Pierce or Prentice, great host.
We went snowmobiling there in the nineties. Love it. Nice people, beautiful landscape. That was before 9 11 when you could cross the border with no hassle!! We would cross the border into Canada and there was a small town with a pub and there would be a hundred sleds parked outside. Good food and drinks!❤
Colebrook is my hometown and was a great place to grow up. What sticks out in this video though is the sidewalks which seem to be in dire need of repair compared to years past. Hopefully soon.Colebrook will always be in my ❤️
Looks like a pleasant place---and good to see small businesses still holding their own in small towns. It's so hard to see the hearts of such downtowns scooped out. Thanks for taking us to Colebrook!
I was in Colebrook back in the 90s. A couple friend that lived in Norton,VT just bought a parcel of land in Colebrook. They have since sold and one passed away the other lives in Champlain,NY. Beautiful part of New England. Thanks. If your into that area go check out Earth People's Park in Norton,VT. That's where my friends lived. It was quite the place before the state took the land. It's a park now.
T-Mobile! 😂 I don't live quite that far north, but I'm familiar enough. Winter lasts from October to June up there. You should have a couple wood stoves to back up your central heating system for power outages, etc. Winters are fun for snow mobiling, but punishing if you're not prepared.
This is awesome!! Most of my family is from Colebrook my parents included. My Grandparents Haynes had an 800 acre farm there. Such an important town to me.
I went there on vacation in the summer of 2021. The border was closed then and the roads were very quiet. No trucks on route 3 but there were moose. Very nice area and very friendly locals.
The Sutton Place (nice restaurant )was where the eyeglass and hair place used to be. You missed so much history. So love you visited our little town!! The antique store has a theater downstairs and there's a bowling alley under the insurance shop on the corner across from the ATM, citizens
When I moved there in 1968 I went to the original elementary school that was were Dunkin's is now and across the street was the nuns convent/boarding house for the catholic school and before that the convent was a grand hotel. The Balsams hotel was also open back then. It was much nicer back then.
@@T1DWanderer the Antique Store was originally JAX Theatre, in high school I used to work there as the popcorn girl, in 1970 we had our high school graduation there. Soon after it became the NH Liquor store.

Love Colebrook, when I was younger I would stay at the Northern Comfort motel with my buddies and snowmobile right from their parking lot. Ate at the Wildeness each time. The locals were so nice to us, they knew us by name when we would go up.

What a cool video! Back in 1996-97, my band Blue Monday used to play the Colebrook Country Club. There was two ladies that were at every performance.. Tweety, who said she worked at George's Pizza, and her friend Julie. It was quite the trip from Rutland, Vermont but everyone made us feel welcome.
@maplebear6527 ok. I never knew the other person's name, only as Tweety. Lol. We played the country club quite a few times and had fond memories of those years. Tweety and Julie were at every show we played! I think we had breakfast at the Wilderness one time. Thanks for reaching out and nice chatting with you!
Is the IGA supermarket still in Colebrook? Used to travel through and stop in town for groceries there all the time when was rv'ing up to Pitsburg, NH often. Almost bought a place in that area back when land was cheap. I'm sure you loved that waterfall!
The old IGA that was right in town moved to route 3 on the right side of the road as your heading north towards West Stewartstown just past the cemetery, same family owns it.
MY father spent 3 years in the seminary for the priesthood in Colebrook back in 1930. The seminary is no longer, did you notice if the building was still there?
The only way to get to Colebrook by a major highway from the South is to take the interstate through Franconia Notch. However in order to preserve the natural beauty of the area, this Interstate has a waiver allowing it not to be built to standards. I noticed the sign at the beginning of the video had a town with the word "Notch" in it. The first results of the Presidential election are of course released in Dixville Notch, which made me wonder what exactly a notch is. Apparently, it's another name for mountain pass, but specific to NH and perhaps other NE states. Maybe everybody knew that but anyway it was interesting for me, as was the video. 😊
You should have visited the Colebrook Village Cemetery and looked up the grave of late businessman Eddie Nash whose grave was dug up by grave robbers. The whole incident was orchestrated by Nash's crazy ass daughter. She thought that her father's true last will and testament were buried with the old man.
Sorry the truck noise annoyed you but we’re working people up here. Maybe the Catskills would better suit your needs or maybe the air bnb could put in better windows.
You failed to do your due diligence and research momentous events in the towns history. Event one was; A state police detective wounded in the capture of accused sex-slayer Christopher Wilder. State Police detective Leo Jellison was critically wounded capturing Wilder on April 13, 1984. Wilder was killed. And the Drega killing rampage on august 19, 1997. I’ll leave that tragic event to you to look up. Both are worthy of mention when Colebrook is the topic.
I see how you had the thumbnail pic in front of a bar and wrote the caption of a small town with a big problem. I can’t be the only one who thought you were gonna tell a tale of a town of booze bags. Or maybe I’m just too cynical and pessimistic.

@@colincostine9775 Marquis Organic Maple 🍁 in Bloomfield! Say hi to Yves and Linda! 😂 (competition is tough out here!)
@@maplebear6527 Hi to Yves and Linda! maybe I rode my snowmobile among their maple trees, LOL. I attended Sunday school with Dave Fuller.
@@colincostine9775 It's beautiful riding up there. I'd love to see Fuller's bush sometime. Gonna have to check it out
Sorry the truck noise annoyed you but we’re working people up here. Maybe the Catskills would better suit your needs or maybe the air bnb could put in better windows.
Nice place to visit. In summer too far from the ocean
Good food at the Black Moose.
Black Bear?
There must be no trucks in Georgia the way this guy acts...
In NH the law is sTo stop when pedestrians are in the crosswalk
Only in certain towns.
@@lori-lou4416It’s the law in all towns.
I figured it was the law, I just wanted to make sure that truck was going to really do it ;)
@@lori-lou4416 pretty sure it's a state law. That's what the message on the cross walk things say. The ones the put IN the crosswalks.
NO BEER !! DRY TOWN......

BYOB
Maybe this section of NH is free from Massthink 😮
✌️
I see how you had the thumbnail pic in front of a bar and wrote the caption of a small town with a big problem. I can’t be the only one who thought you were gonna tell a tale of a town of booze bags. Or maybe I’m just too cynical and pessimistic.
I just wonder why anybody cares. Just stumbled across this and spent 2 minutes. Unreal.
Trump country
USA is Trump country
Yeah everyone can stay away we’re getting to crowded and moving away from our small town legacy
