LOL you think that is going to help? Jan 3rd they come back. It looks like they'll be fighting over who is speaker because Johnson doesn't have the votes. It will be weeks before they get a speaker while the government would still be shutdown. All the while people who spent too much on Christmas will be in trouble because they spent on their credit cards for Christmas and with no money because of the shutdown then they will be in trouble with their creditors. After Christmas sales will suffer because people who are worried about the govt shutdown won't spend. Harming businesses and the economy. You make it sound so easy. You want Trump to start off his term in recession?

No Government workers work less the Congressmen who have literally months off at a time and spend most of their time on the job perusing lobbyist money. Remote work is one the the best things to ever happen in our workforce. It allows people with online work duties the freedom to be productive and live where they want without clogging up the freeways. So of course, Republicans and power-hungry oligarchs are against it.

As a retired municipal employee, I didn’t pay into Social Security on that income but I paid into the pension. I also had 26 years worth of paying into Social Security for which I receive $623 a month only 53% of what I would have received if not for the pension. If I paid into Social Security for all the years via work outside of government, why is it fair to balance that budget of my back and the backs of retirees who had a similar history?

Stop giving Social Security away to everybody who didn't pay into it and forget about cutting benefits to "save the program" so that it exists in name only. The simple fix is when Trump allows drill baby drill put a small tax on those gallons and use it to fully fund SS for our seniors.

    • @randydoak6638

People who didn't pay into it don't get the benefit. Ask a person who is self-employed how much social security money they get. Quite the opposite, most undocumented workers pay into the trust fund though their employers and get nothing in return when their time comes.
